Amber Portwood Rehab

Oh Amber Portwood, even in jail she continues to make headlines over and over and over – well you get the point!

The latest is a report by TMZ, which states the real reason the Teen Mom star was evicted from her Indiana home last month was because she was scamming the government. Which definitely makes sense as money couldn’t have been the reason, since MTV pays Amber A LOT.

See Amber, 21, was living in a subsidized apartment courtesy of the state’s “Low Income Rental Housing Tax Credit Program.” In the lease agreement, Amber claimed she made $10,000 a year, except she earned a lot more, as in $280,000 in the year 2010 alone.

Sources reveal Amber’s little white lie was the reason for her eviction as her MTV income obviously made her ineligible for the apartment.

The good news for Amber is she won’t need to find a new apartment anytime soon as she has been finally accepted into a drug program.

If you recall, Amber was given the option last month of either doing five years in prison, or going to a court ordered rehab program for drug possession and a probation violation. For once in her life, Amber made the right decision by choosing rehab over hard time.

Amber was back in court yesterday, after being officially accepted into Sister 2 Sister Ministries, a live-in halfway house for women exiting jail.

The Herald Bulletin reports that while Amber had hoped she could live with her grandparents before entering the program, the judge decided against it. “I understand you’ve been in jail for awhile, and you’re frustrated,” Judge David Happe said. “But the last thing we want to do is release you and have you commit another offense.”

So for now, Amber remains in jail as she is scheduled to be evaluated by the Sister 2 Sister Ministries sometime early next week. The judge stated that the amount of time Amber spends in the program will be based on how well she does. He also added that Amber will be able to come and go as she pleases, as long as staff knows where she is. She will also have a 10 p.m. curfew.

While doing the drug program, Amber will undergo daily screenings, fulfill treatment obligations, and attend drug court each week.

The judge made it clear that if Amber fails the program, she will serve five years in prison, no questions asked. Yikes. Good luck to Amber, here’s to hoping she can finally clean up her act and be there for 2-year-old daughter Leah.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE LATEST WITH AMBER? DO YOU THINK SHE’LL FINALLY TURN HER LIFE AROUND?

Following a 2-month stint in rehab, Teen Mom star Amber Portwood is officially back home in Anderson, Indiana.

Looking tan and relaxed, Amber, 21, was photographed above, on Aug. 27, out and about running errands and spending time with her 2-year-old daughter, Leah Shirley.

Mother and daughter were reunited after Amber boarded a plane from LAX on her way home to Indiana last Friday. It appears MTV cameras were on hand to film the event.

Amber, who has revealed her battle with bipolar in the past, had been a patient at Seasons Recovery Center in Malibu, CA following her suicide attempt in June. She was reportedly treated for anger and depression.

In the meantime, Amber’s ex Gary Shirley, 25, has full custody of little Leah. In fact, Gary’s attorney spoke out recently stating he doubts Amber will be able to regain custody of her daughter. “I think custody will go to Gary,” his attorney Jeff Lockwood explained, adding that in other for Amber to regain custody, she would need to be “able to maintain a clean track record.” Something he doubts she will be able to do.

And while Amber’s brother, Shawn Portwood, would like her to move to Nashville to get away from negative influences which he feels includes Gary, it appears Amber and Gary have been spending time together since her return home.

“Quality time w Amber.. Thanking all who have and continue to support her,” tweeted Gary on Saturday. And the next day he tweeted, “Dinner and Movie with Amber.” So the cycle continues…

TELL US – DO YOU THINK AMBER CAN TURN HER LIFE AROUND? SHE AND GARY BAD FOR EACH OTHER?

Following a suicide attempt back in June, Teen Mom star Amber Portwood has spent over two months at a Malibu Rehab facility in California.

According to a new report by RadarOnline, Amber, 21, is getting ready to check out of the Seasons Recovery Center to start a new life with a clean slate.

“After she settles in, she is going to head to the area her brother lives in in Tennessee,” a source close to Amber reveals. “She wants to check out houses in the area as she is considering leaving Indiana.”

It was reported weeks ago that Amber is seriously contemplating leaving her hometown of Anderson, Indiana in other to get away from negative influences in her life, which her brother claims includes her baby daddy Gary Shirley, 25. Amber checked into the expensive facility on June 24 just days after she reportedly tried to hang herself, while also taking some pills.

Meanwhile, a fresh start and a rehab stint might not be enough for Amber to regain custody of her 2-year-old daughter Leah.

Gary’s lawyer, Jeff Lockwood, tells Star magazine that it’s highly unlikely the troubled Amber will regain custody of Leah, adding that Gary’s temporary custody arrangement will be made permanent.

“I think custody will go to Gary,” his attorney explains to Star, adding that in other for Amber to regain custody, she would need to be “able to maintain a clean track record.” Something neither Lockwood or Gary think she will be able to do.

In addition to the recent suicide attempt, Amber is still in hot water with Child Protective Services for physical abuse after she attacked Gary on the MTV hit show.

“We will aim for her to have a whole lot of visitation,” said Jeff, hinting that Amber might even move in with Gary to allow her to be a full time mom. “Gary and Amber do have a relationship and a child,” he added. “Who knows, they may even move in together.”

TELL US – IS GARY A NEGATIVE INFLUENCE ON AMBER? SHOULD AMBER BE ABLE TO REGAIN CUSTODY OF LEAH?

Teen Mom star Amber Portwood, who recently stated she was planning to enter treatment made good on her word, as sources confirm she has recently checked into rehab for unspecified reasons.

According to E! News, Amber, who attempted suicide just two weeks ago, has entered a fancy-smancy rehab facility in where else – Malibu.

In fact, helping to confirm the reports of Amber’s rehab entry were facebook posts from Amber’s own fame-seeking brother, Shawn Portwood: “Best wishes to my sister while in rehab. For everyone who might not know, it is not for drugs btw,” as Shawn makes sure to point out his sister’s rehab stay is not for illegal substances. Amber recently came forward admitting she suffers from bi-polar disorder which may help to explain some of her actions.

According to a friend of Amber who followed up on brother Shawn’s FB post, things are going well for her since going to treatment and she is headed in a positive direction: “I talked to her last night and she sounds amazing and positive! She has a great support system that stands beside her and are supporting her in this life changing journey.” Amber will reportedly remain in rehab for 30 – 60 days.

The article does not give information on who is providing for Amber’s two-year old daughter, Leah while she is in treatment, but it has been reported that Gary Shirley now has custody of her.

In other Teen Mom Rehab stories, Jenelle Evans has finished her stint in a Malibu rehab facility following reports of out-control partying and fighting, plus multiple arrests. In a RadarOnline interview, Jenelle’s attorney, Dustin R.T. Sullivan reveals what’s next for his client: “She’s back home in North Carolina and started class at Cape Fear Community College on Wednesday. She’s taking American History and a math course. She wants to finish the two year program with an Associate’s Degree and then get her Bachelor’s Degree from UNCW (University of North Carolina Wilmington).”

As for her terror-relationship with on-off boyfriend, Kieffer Delp, they are NOT together (good!) but according to Jenelle’s lawyer: “They may still communicate, but as far as I know they aren’t together.”

Adding that she apparently learned the concept of “planning for the future,” Jenelle is applying for jobs, other than reality TV star, so she can provide extra income for her son with whom she has been recently reunited. Jenelle herself explained her goals in an interview, stating: “In 10 years I see myself living in a decent house with a decent car and with Jace and married to a man that deserves me and my family. I also see myself with a career as a film editor.”

Best of luck to Amber, Janelle, and their kiddies – they’ll need it! Hopefully this is the fresh start they both need, because it would be nice for MTV to chronicle Teen Mom success stories for a change!

Do you think Amber will straighten out? Do you think Janelle is a changed woman after rehab? Will you be watching the upcoming season of Teen Mom?
