Can we all just agree that Phaedra Parks’ life has got to be rough right now? Two young children, a busy(??) law career, the drama of filming the Real Housewives of Atlanta and that small little matter of her husband, Apollo Nida, heading to jail for the next eight years!
At this rate, I am just holding on tight and waiting for our favorite Southern Belle to absolutely lose it! Maybe we will get lucky and Kenya Moore will be the one to push her over the edge!
So far, Phaedra has remained mum on Apollo’s legal troubles and all the other drama in her life….until today.
According to reports Apollo is hurrying to finish a tell-all memoir before he begins serving his 8-year sentence. Apparently Apollo has to get the book done before heading to prison due to the law and he has hired multiple ghost writers to complete the project.
Apollo will serve an 8 year sentence for various financial frauds and also owes about $1.9 million dollars in restitution. His wife Phaedra Parks was not at his sentencing and the couple is reportedly on the brink of divorce, although neither has filed. In fact Apollo himself admitted that he does not think his marriage will be in tact following his prison sentence. “I doubt [that my marriage will survive this]. My wife didn’t even fu**ing show up for my sentencing. I’m still kind of salty about that,” he confessed in an interview last month.
Phaedra Parks has been radio silent on Instagram and Twitter as of late. After her husband, Apollo Nida was indicted on fraud charges and sentenced to 8 years in prison and ordered to pay back the $1.9 million, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star took a much needed break from social media.
Not sure if Phaedra took the time to work on her marriage, or prepare for a break-up, but one thing is for sure. When Phaedra returned to Twitter she came back with a bang and let the cat out of the bag when it comes to the premiere date for our favorite Southern Housewives.
Last season things were rough for NeNe, who battled with Kenya Moore and lost her friendship to Cynthia Bailey. Still NeNe reveals that despite the negativity she’s returning to the show to use it for the amazing opportunities it presents. And she’s also giving an inside scoop on the inner workings of the show, the cast relationships, and whether or not Phaedra Parks will be back!
“Every single season, somehow people think I’m not coming back. Somehow, I’m the only one who people ask, ‘Is she coming back or not?’ But I think that people don’t understand it’s not really our choice like that,” NeNe explains. “When I signed on for season 1, I signed on for a number of seasons. We’re like actors, we sign for a number of seasons and they’re either going to pick you up at the end of the season or drop you, unless you finish out your contract. So I have obligations. It’s not like I can just walk away from something like it’s just that easy, it’s really not.”
Oh my… Real Housewives of Atlanta is turning into the new Real Housewives of New Jersey. Meaning what is happening behind-the-scenes is far more juicy than what’s happening on camera!
With Apollo Nida heading to prison, it seems he and Phaedra Parks are getting divorced. Rumors have cropped up that the couple is living apart and Apollo hasn’t been seen at their home in months. RHOA producers are filming Apollo until he relocates to the Big House, but he and Phaedra are barely interacting – in fact a previous report spotted them only coming together for their sons and having a terse conversation!
Now comes a new report that states Phaedra is refusing to film with Apollo – and even skipped a recent RHOA event to avoid him. This tea is piping hot and sweet like molasses so settle in! It’s been rumored that Phaedra is ‘taking a break’ from filming this season as she sorts out her affairs, but that’s not true – what Phaedra is actually breaking from is putting her marriage and drama with her soon-to-be-ex-husband on TV.
Apollo Nida was giving yet another interview – this time to Be100 – and, as always, didn’t hold anything back. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star drops a few shocking drops of tea. His restitution initially started at $14 million. He doesn’t think his marriage to Phaedra Parks will survive. And he says there were others involved in the fraud dealings, but he took the brunt of the fall.
When asked how the sentencing has affected his family life, Apollo says “It’s hell. Hell on wheels. I’ve asked god to forgive me. I’ve forgiven myself. I had to move on. From there I just had to bite down, I was going through so much. It doesn’t make you less of a man to cry and shed tears. I’ve shed tears. I’m just upset at how I was raised and to possibly be taking my son through the same thing. But by the grace of God he’s still young and we have many years ahead of us. I just can’t make those same mistakes. It’s all on me.”
He continues, “a lot of people could be held accountable, but at the end of the day, it’s over with now. We’ll pay back the $1.9 million and keep going. By the grace of God I was able to get that down. It [restitution] was $14 million.”
