Y'all realize that Shaunie O'Neal is laughing all the way to the bank, right? The Basketball Wives creator and Executive Producer thinks she has a franchise hit on her hands, although, has she watched the L.A. version?
She doesn't care about how the women are perceived, she just cares about the ratings, and she pretty much says just that in a recent interview. I can't say I'm surprised, but you'd think that Shaunie would at least have the sense to keep her smugness to herself. Who I am kidding, this is Nostrils we're talking about!
Well, are they or aren't they? All of the gossip lately surrounding Basketball Wives: L.A. is that the show won't be returning for another season. However, thanks to an overly eager cast, we're getting word now that we'll be treated to yet another round with these wackadoos!
Not only did Draya Michele post the above picture on her Instagram, she claims that it was taken while filming new episodes. Brooke Bailey also dished on the upcoming season at a recent event.
Oh Laura Govan, please try to do everything you can to stay slightly relevant in light of the rumored cancelation of Basketball Wives: LA. The former reality star is posing for a photo shoot where she sets a wedding dress on fire in a symbolic protest regarding society's views on single women being less important than married women. Ohhhh, deep!
Of course, Laura is engaged to NBA player Gilbert Arenas who is the father of her four children, so she's kind of straddling the fence between single and married while trying to raise awareness about how flammable satin is women's roles.
I'll bet Jackie Christie of VH1's Basketball Wives: L.A. is vying for a spin-off right about now. That said, I hope Draya Michele is churning out those teeny bikinis to pad her bank account. It seems that the two women, along with the other more forgettable cast members from BBW: L.A., will all need to find something to do with their time if this gossip is true…
Gloria Govan hinted about jumping ship a while ago, claiming to be working on other projects (Internet ballerina/ninja movies, I presume), and now it looks the rest of the women will following suit–whether they like it or not!
Uh oh. I hope this isn't a case of biting the hand that feeds you! Gloria Govan of Basketball Wives: LA hasn't exactly been loyal to the network who made her a reality star, and VH1 needs to take note about what the reality star is saying in the media. She's got way more important projects in the works, yall like that web series…!!
On season two of the show, Gloria pretty much alienated all of her cast mates except for sister Laura, and it's no secret that her husband Matt Barnes isn't a fan of his wife's involvement with the reality series. And speaking of her husband, Gloria didn't even inform the network when she eloped with Matt while the season was filming. That certainly couldn't have gone over well!
Another day, another Basketball Wives LA casting rumor! Seeing as Shaunie "Nostrils" O'Neal has several spots to fill, I'm sure it won't be the last gossip we hear about women who may be making an appearance. We've heard multiple things about a casting shake-up among the ladies, with the most recent being that only Jackie Christie and Draya Michele will be returning. That should be entertaining to watch…of course, anything would be more entertaining than the current season! It's now being speculated that Karrine Steffans will be joining the as yet unknown cast. She better prepare herself though…we all know the newbies never last. She needs to get on boss Jackie's good side fast.
I don't know about y'all, but I predict that two seasons from now, this show will actually become The Jackie Christie Show, name change and all. If I'm right, mark my words, the entire season will be vow renewals, Jackie dressing in slutty pirate Halloween costumes for family gatherings, and her participating in poetry slams. The poetry slam part is key, given that she won't have any other cast mates with which to interact. In all honesty, I would much rather watch Wacky Jackie in beret doing beatnik spoken word open mic nights than watch these ladies continue to meet up for coffee/lunch/cocktails/martial arts. Am I the only one?
