Basketball Wives LA has transformed into a ridiculous reunion by women who once claimed they never wanted to be part of the show. If this is their plan to redeem themselves from bad behaviors of the past, they are going about it all wrong! Shaunie O’Neal made her crossover last week, but last night’s episode included a cameo by Evelyn Lozada and the arrival of Tami Roman.
The night unfolds with with MehganJames continuing to scream at Draya Michele for the FUPA comment in Jackie Christie’s cognac commercial. Draya stays calm, claiming that she just wanted to spare the newbie from looking badly in the video. After the viewing, Draya remains quiet as Brandi Maxiell, Malaysia Pargo, and Patrice Curry fight her battle. When Mehgan tries to bring Jackie into the argument, Jackie reminds Mehgan that she was the star of beautiful cognac commercial debut and she’s not about to speak out of turn in the silly FRUPA (no R!) battle. Shaunie swoops in to see why the girls are ganging up on Mehgan, and Draya exits with an eye roll. Malaysia dismisses the newbie as Mehgan shows her lack of FUPA to the group, and Jackie is appalled when Meghan ducks out of the debut party without saying good-bye…or thank you.
Tami was expecting a child with Reggie Youngblood, the first for her boyfriend. Tami has two older daughters from her previous marriage to NBA star Kenny Anderson. This news comes on the heels of Tami’s frienemy and former Basketball Wives Miami cohort Evelyn Lozada opening up about her recent miscarriage on her new series Livin’ Lozada.
Basketball Wives: LA started the Miami crossover last night, introducing show creator Shaunie O’Neal. She’s already picking sides and diving into pettiness, which isn’t shocking in the least. When we last left the ladies, Malaysia Pargo and Doug Christie were meeting with a binocular wearing interloper spying from across the street. Reality is so real, y’all!
After Jackie Christie allows her husband to meet with Malaysia, she’s teeming with jealousy, even though Doug promises there is no reason for her insecurities. Doug compliments Malaysia as a person, and Jackie wants to know every single detail of their sit-down. Not wanting to cause too much of scene, Jackie decides to meet with the OG basketball wife Shaunie. Having jumped from the Miami franchise, Shaunie is one nip-slip away from a modesty bar with her latest outfit. The women discuss Jackie’s recent issues with Malaysia, and Shaunie revels in living it up on the cusp of her fortieth birthday. It pains me to be the same age as Shaunie. Jackie dishes on Doug’s latest sex drive, and admittedly, I tune out for a bit.
It’s horrible, but I can’t wait for Shaunie O’Neal and Tami Roman to arrive on the scene of Basketball Wives: LA. I know I will grow to regret ever making that statement, but something needs to break up the lather, rinse, repeat monotony of this group! Am I right?
Last night’s episode begins with Draya Michele revealing Malaysia Pargo’s request to meet with Doug Christie. Jackie Christie did promise she’d do whatever it takes to make nice, and Malaysia knows that’s the one thing that Jackie would never allow…so they will never have to be friends again. Draya tries to explain that Malaysia just wants to learn more about Jackie from the person who knows her best. Jackie is confused…this woman wants to meet with her husband while she’s not around? Draya wonders if she should have used the word “date” to describe the event instead of calling it a meeting. Too late now!
VH1 has us pegged for sure. As the summer wears on and reruns abound, we can count on reality shows to provide us with some new material and much needed drama. Enter the ladies of Basketball Wives: LA. Who cares if you’re the wife of a basketball player? If you want to create tension with the series veterans, by all means, join in the shenanigans! Last night was the long awaited (by me, at least, but I know I can’t be the only one!) premiere of the latest season of BBW: LA, and it did not disappoint.
It’s been so long, I can’t keep up with which ladies hate the others, which ones threatened to never return but are still front and center, and why in the world Tami Roman decided to jump casts. I’m sure it won’t be too difficult to catch up to speed. The episode begins with Malaysia Pargo redecorating her home in the midst of her divorce from Jannero Pargo, and Brandi Maxiell stops in to check up on her friend. She’s ready to play matchmaker, but Malaysia wants some me time for a change. Malaysia explains that she couldn’t keep being disrespected by her husband, and he wasn’t willing to go to counsel. Brandi can relate, but she’s not willing to consider divorce…yet. Malaysia wants to change the subject, but she doesn’t want it re-routed to a conversation about Jackie Christie. She hasn’t forgiven Jackie for her behavior and insensitive comments last season, so it will be game on when the ladies are forced to interact.
Just in time for the new season of Basketball Wives: Los Angeles! I’m thrilled to see that Draya Michele is finally ready to be a wife after several seasons where she wan’t one, but yet continued to star on a show about them.
Of course, Draya has made waves during her time on the franchise spin-off. Her co-stars loved to hate her in her first season, only to buddy up to her when she became a fan favorite. Her past has been dissected, and Draya doesn’t shy away from her controversial role on BBWLA. Without question, she makes that gaggle of ladies much more entertaining! That said, I’m happy she’s settled down and found happiness with new fiance, Orlando Scandrick of the Dallas Cowboys. While the two have had their share of ups-and-downs, they are committed to building a life together.
Last month Draya Michele confirmed she and her beau of two years Orlando Scandrick had split! Rumor has it a major reason for their split is that Draya wanted a proposal but Orlando wasn’t ready. Draya’s official statement announced that the couple “mutually” decided to go their separate ways because their hectic schedules didn’t allow them invest enough time into their relationship.
Last week Draya was spotted having her car door opened by Tampa Bay Buccaneers player Jameis Winston, prompting rumors that the two were an item. Draya dismissed it as “nothing” but Jameis being a gentleman when they were coincidentally at the same club, at the same time. Additionally Draya is no single lady – she and Orlando are still trying to figure things out!
It was Shaunie who prompted Tami to give the LA franchise a try by introducing her to the cast while she was working in L.A. But this season she’s largely a spectator to the drama and not an “official castmember.” You mean, instead of her usual role as perpetuator of the drama?!
“I don’t want to catch no cases,” Tami quips. “You can change but the inner workings of you sometimes–people can push those things. I appear as a special guest for a few episodes. I was inserted to meet the ladies and bring my straight to the point personality to the group.”
