Shaunie O’Neal has turned being an ex-wife (or former girlfriend) of an NBA player into a new career and now that Vanessa Bryant is divorcing the uber famous Kobe Bryant that makes her a prime candidate for a certain VH1 show!
TMZ is reporting that the producers for Basketball Wives LA are hoping to score Vanessa for next season and sources reveal they are putting together an “extremely lucrative pitch for Vanessa,” in the hopes she’ll sell out her dignity for the chance to on-air tussle with the likes of Jackie Christie. According to insiders if Vanessa accepts the offer producers will be casting her in a lead role in the upcoming season!
Apparently, producers would have never asked Vanessa to the join the cast while she was still married to Kobe, but now that she is a free agent, so to speak, the door is wide open for her to stir up some major drama on the already insane show.
Rumors of Vanessa’s rather interesting behavior have been circulating the net for years and I’m sure many of the basketball wives have had first-hand experience with the controversial Vanessa! “Vanessa has more than enough storyline and would bring the show to another level,” a source explains.
Especially considering the details of why Vanessa’s marriage to Kobe ended! Many believe Kobe’s affair with Kim Kardashian‘s close friend, Carla DiBello was the final straw that pushed Vanessa to file!
Another reason producers have waited so long to approach Vanessa is budget constraints. Before the show was a breakout hit for Vh1 the budget was very tight — which necessitated they hire desperate famewhores (ahem… Evelyn Lozada) and wives or girlfriends of less famous players. Now that the show is a hit, attracting a huge audience and branching out into different cities, they can attract women associated with big-name players!
Speaking of budget, Vanessa isn’t going to be counting her pennies anytime soon. New details of her divorce settlement are being leaked and I have to say she is taking the Ivana Trump route: “Don’t get mad, get everything!”
Vanessa is apparently scoring not one, not two, but THREE Newport Beach mansions in the divorce as well as an estimated $75 Million dollars — which is about half of their total assets. Remember, Vanessa and Kobe married when his career was just taking off and allegedly they do not have a pre-nup!
Sources close to the proceedings told TMZ the property settlement agreement has been signed and is official. Vanessa will retain control of the mansion the couple was living in prior to filing for divorce, the estate her mother is living in and the new estate the couple has been renovating for the past two years and has just been completed. No word on Kobe’s new digs!
If this true, Vanessa would definitely be a HUGE score for Basketball Wives L.A.!

DO YOU WANT TO SEE VANESSA ON BASKETBALL WIVES? DO YOU THINK SHE WILL SIGN ONTO THE SHOW?
The Insider is confirming that VH1 has greenlit an all new season though no date has been set on when it will return to airwaves. Sources reveal Jackie Christie will be returning despite the fact that her costars have repeatedly stated they want nothing to do with her. Can’t blame VH1 though because Jackie brings the cray and the drama!
Even better, Wacky Jackie is also reportedly working to get her own spinoff show!
“Jackie will have a full plate in 2012 as she prepares to release her new book aimed couples, and how to focus on intimacy. We’re also told she just shot a pilot for BET,” states The Insider.
Interesting. This, however, wouldn’t mark the first time Jackie’s had her own reality show as she and her husband, retired NBA player Doug Christie, actually had a show on BET back in 2006 titled The Christies Committed.
TELL US – EXCITED ABOUT A SECOND SEASON? WOULD YOU WATCH A JACKIE SPINOFF?
She’s the lady many fans love to hate. She adores her husband, despises pork and like it or not, generated a lot of buzz while earning the nickname Wacky Jackie.
Jackie Christie has a lot to discuss regarding the first season of Basketball Wives L.A., and while everything she says is coherent, I’m not sure we were watching the same show. In a recent chat with VH1, Jackie dishes on how she was portrayed, her confrontation(s) with the other women and how she believes that one day they will all be friends again. Good luck with that!
Highlights from her interview are below.
How do you feel about how the season went?
I feel ecstatic. There were ups and downs. Sometimes I didn’t know what to expect when episodes would come on. I said going in that I would wait until the end of the season to give my opinion, but I really think that here are messages in everything we do.
So, by the time things ended though, after Hawaii, and after the girls confronted you how did you feel?
I felt upset, more or less frustrated, and very disheartened. I felt betrayed, definitely, because I felt like the girls knew where I was coming from, and they were all coming to me asking for advice and I was mentoring them, trying to help them be better people. It got twisted up and misconstrued. All I ever said was let’s put it all on the table and talk about it and move through it. I felt like they all kind of cowarded out and didn’t really didn’t play ball.
How did you and your family come to the decision to do the show? Was anyone apprehensive about you doing it? Did Doug warn you?
[Laughs] When I first told him, he kind of took a step back for a sec, but as he thought about it he said, you know what? I think this would be a great thing for you to do. I think this will be a huge opportunity for you to get your message out there. I write books that inspire women and motivate women to do better things in their life, so he thought this would be a great idea to get my message out there.
How did your feelings for each girl change as the season went along?
I did not know Imani beforehand at all, so I was really surprised that we had so much in common. We got along very well. She called me all the time; we would chat and talk and, you know, laugh. She was really fun. As far as Malaysia [Pargo], she’s another one who I was getting close to. She’s a Leo like I am. She really expressed how much she looks up to me. She’s also married. She’s one of the ‘wives’ on the show, so we had a lot in common. I would pretty much talk to both of them and kind of mentor them. We got close as the season went on. Draya [Michele]? I look at her like a little sister. She was funny to me. I was really starting to get to like her a lot as well.
Have you spoken to the women since your meeting at the restaurant?
No. I’ve seen Laura and Gloria. I’ve been to fashion events with them. So, I’m around them. There’s still that tension; I can tell, but yet we all know that in the end we’re all going to be friends, hopefully, but we have not hashed out all the differences at all. As far as the rest of them go, I have not talked to any of them. I’ve talked to Tanya [Williams] and Kimsha [Artest] for sure but they’re not involved in that whole conflict.
Did they watch the show? Do you know if they have an opinion of like what’s going on without them being there?
Yeah, I think that they well, Tanya, I don’t think watches it — or at least she tells me she doesn’t. Kimsha? I rather not disclose how she feels about it. [Laughs] But Kimsha is a sweetheart and she understands. She was a part of the show and, hopefully, will return and be a part of the show.
I know you said you’re not a s— -starter, but you’re a s— -finisher. Were you ready to throw down if it came to that?
Oh, definitely. [Laughs] I hate to say that but that’s just how I am. I’ve been a fighter my whole life.
Are you happy with how you’ve been portrayed? Because the final episodes are pretty harsh.
Yeah. So far, I’m like, “Here I am again taking the hits for everybody else.” I tell my fans and my followers on Twitter, “Hang in there. Stay with it!” I mean, nobody would want to hear “She’s a bully. She’s a psychopath. She’s all these different things.” I know that I’m a very confident and strong person. I know who I am and what I’m representing. Names don’t really hurt me that much to where it’s going to change anything. But I would have preferred to been edited like Draya was.
Draya was brought into the group as the girl who had to fight to get her way in, and now she comes off as the person who’s the least judgmental — do you think that that’s pretty accurate?
No, I don’t and Draya knows it’s not as well. I think that’s why today it’s good that there is a reunion and everyone gets a chance to express how they feel. I’m definitely not one to hold my tongue. I don’t have any personal issues against Draya. It’s not Draya’s fault. It’s not anyone’s fault. It’s the way that the ball bounced. Now it’s time to put it out there and let’s get to the bottom and the realness of what’s going on and whats the essence of who you are.
If there is a season two, do you want to do it?
[Laughs] I would definitely be open to discussing it. I’d love to do it, but I’d like to have some conversations first just to make sure that going in, I’ll get that opportunity for the world to know who I really am.
I have to admit, if I hadn’t watched the entire season I would think Jackie seems like a pretty down-to-earth chick from a quick read of that interview. Funny how that works, huh?

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF JACKIE’S INTERVIEW? WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE ALL THE LADIES RETURN FOR SEASON TWO? WOULD YOU EVEN WATCH A SEASON TWO?
Again, you didn’t think they would go quietly back into obscurity, did you? On the heels of the Basketball Wives: L.A.’s reunion, the women are still everywhere, making sure we don’t forget them during the downtime until a potential second season. VH1 caught up with the once bullied — now break-out star — Draya Michele. The following is an excerpt from that interview.
Did you have any idea what this would be like, this whole filming experience?
Definitely imagined it to be something different. I kind of imagined it to be with me more like Royce [Reed] in the Miami show…I don’t think it turned out that way, though.
What I’m most surprised by is you are the one person, you even said it yourself at one point, “Everybody at first is against me and now everybody’s with me.” I don’t think anybody really expected that.
Right. I mean, I don’t know what everybody thought they were going to think of me, but what I thought everyone was going to think of me—I though everyone was going to hate me and just not like me. You know, what I did was I just went in and promised myself that I’d stay true to myself, and I did, and it ended up working in my favor.
Watching the show back, was there anything that shocked you the most about how anyone was portrayed?
Not really as much as anyone was portrayed, I was shocked about how much time they consumed talking about me because I really had no idea all of that was taking place.
Are you—were you offended at all that people were so harsh and calling you names from the get-go? “Groupie” and all that stuff.
Yeah, I was definitely offended being that it was coming from them. I mean, they’re not God-like women, so it’s like, where do you get off saying that? It was shocking but, you know, I took it.
Did you know when the series started that your past and the whole internet thing was going to be a topic of conversation?
I pretty much expected it and prepared myself for it. But I just assumed that if I discussed it once, I wasn’t going to have to discuss it several times. Once I did discuss it one time, I thought I was done. So being that it kept being brought up, it became a problem for me.
At this point, are you friends with everyone? It seems like Hawaii helped you all bond.
I don’t want to dwell on one storyline, but like, the worthless thing; does that still stick with you at all?
No, only because like…as soon as Imani [Showalter] called me worthless, her dirt hit the blogs because people were like, “How dare she?” You know, everybody has their own stuff, mine just surfaced. Luckily for them, no one even cares enough about them to even put their dirt out. But I mean, it happens. Everybody has dirt, so coming from her I was just like, it’s the pot calling the kettle black…You know, she was one of the people I was most shocked at because in the beginning, I really liked her.
Speaking of Imani, she also weighs in on some of the similar issues, focusing mainly on the backlash she ensued after calling Draya “worthless.” She regrets how she was portrayed on the show and while her interview is very articulate and uber-calm (typical Imani), there is something about her that still seems to come across as condescending. It’s probably just me. Portions of her interview are below.

We convene with the ladies of Basketball Wives: L.A. for the second half of the reunion. Fingers crossed that we actually get some gossip and hopefully a resolution to the drama. What am I thinking? That never happens on reunion shows!
John Salley questions Laura Govan about the Kardashian-esque twenty-three karat ring on her finger. She coyly reveals it cost almost a million dollars. Laura and Gilbert Arenas are engaged, have bought a house together and are living in Orlando.
Speaking of weddings, Jackie Christie’s sixteenth wedding to Doug Christie is highlighted. Doug joins the ladies on stage, and he is such an eloquent, well-spoken gentleman. I guess opposites truly do attract! Jackie expresses her disappointment that Draya Michele wasn’t at the ceremony, and Draya defends her decision not to come, reiterating that she was casually invited as an afterthought during a phone conversation.

In the bombshell statement, released Wednesday, Matt explains the real reason Gloria and he parted ways was due to an “ongoing affair” she continues to have with a friend of his. Even more shocking, Matt claims they actually broke things off in May, but Gloria begged him to put on a facade due to her TV career. Ai ya ya.
Matt’s full statement via his Twitter page is below –
“In May, Gloria and I decided to separate and in the best interest of her career, I foolishly agreed to portray that we were still together for the upcoming season off her show on VH1. As recently as August we decided to revisit a joint statement of our separation, but Gloria asked to delay making our separation public for the interest of her show.
It is ironic now how Gloria is trying to manipulate the professional relationship between Eva Longoria and myself as the sole reason for our separation, when she knows we split up in May. The reason I broke my silence and released the separation statement a month ago, was due to her on going affair with a former friend of mine. Again, I wish her nothing but the best and I will continue to keep our children as my first priority.”
Wowzers. According to the rumor mill, that friend might be none other than rapper The Game. The Game is pictured with Matt in the pic below and even gave the couple a shout out in his song ‘Good Girls Gone Bad.’ The Game rapped, “Drizzy, I’m sittin here watchin’ Basketball Wives, Like ugh, them is basketball wives? Only cute one, Gloria, thats my ni**a Matt Barnes chick, Can’t swim in that pool fool, thats a crucial conflict.”
It has been rumored for weeks now that Gloria has been having a fling with The Game. Perhaps the rumors are true or perhaps Matt is just believing what others are whispering.
Gloria responded to Matt’s claims via Twitter… of course. Below is what she had to say:
“So Matt’s at it again I see… Whatever he feels like he needs to say to justify our separation is on him. Obviously his relationship with Eva is important enough to bash me. So I wish him and her nothing but the best. Ad will continue to focus Me and out kids. Happy thanksgiving everyone xoxo.”
As for Matt, multiple media outlets continue to report that he is now seeing actressEva Longoria. Despite their denials, the two continue to be photographed together with Star magazine reporting they are indeed having a “fling.” An insider told the mag: “Eva and Matt are sleeping together. It’s a full-blown fling!”

John Salley’s teeth may be a tad whiter, his smile a bit wider and his demeanor even more subdued than normal, but there’s no mistaking his presence means that there is a Basketball Wives reunion in the works, this time L.A. style. He introduces the ladies, and apparently Gloria Govan and Jackie Christie missed the hair memo. Why Maylaysia, why? Your hair looks so good straight! I also have to give credit to a reader that commented in an earlier thread that Laura Govan looks like a long-lost member of the Jackson family. Spot on, Super Reality Junkie!
The first issue at hand is the season opening fight when Laura and Malaysia come to blows after repeated belittling and “hood-rat calling” on the part of Ms. Govan. I still love that Malaysia took off her shoes for the brawl. John recaps the fight, saying that Malaysia “pushed Jackie over like she only weighed a hundred pounds.” Oh no he didn’t! He questions Gloria who says she got her information regarding the tiff from none other than Jackie.

Basketball Wives: L.A.’sImani Showalter does not agree that what fans saw on the hit VH1 show is an accurate representation of who she is. This season, viewers saw her bash young newbie Draya Michele and befriend Laura Govan only to toss her belongings into storage. We also got to watch an awkward date. In an interview with VH1 Access, Imani opens up about why she joined the cast, her thoughts on how she portrayed, Draya-gate and just how crazy she thinks Jackie Christie is.
Gloria Govan originally approached her about doing the show, to which Imani responded, “HELL to the NO!!!” However, she continues, “About three months later I was contacted by the VH1 and they gave me an overview of how they wanted this version of BBW to be and the direction they wanted to move in (totally different than Miami, a more positive show without all the fighting and drink throwing), and so after that meeting I agreed.”
Imani reveals, “I’d known Gloria for about a year and was introduced to her sister Laura maybe about 6 months before we started filming. Kimsha (whom I adore) and I met while we both lived Indiana a few years prior when our guys were both playing for the Pacers. The other girls I met on the first day of shooting.” Initially, she had reservations about putting her life out there for the world to see.
She admits, “Before we started filming I was very nervous about how this would be received by my loved ones. I have always been a VERY private person and I like my anonymity, however, I thought this would be a great opportunity to show the other side of being a BBW. We are mothers taking care of our families, supportive friends, faithful partners, and stable positive people.”
Jumping off to what seemed to be the buzz word of the season, Imani shares, “Not all BBW were ‘groupies’ that got lucky, which is a common misconception I hear over and over. I met Stephen in the Lincoln Tunnel (in a car so I didn’t even know he was tall Hahira) not in a club, and I was working holding it down for myself with a VERY well-paying job on Wall Street…. Just FYI.” You know what I think is a common misconception? That you don’t have to be an actual wife to be on a show called Basketball Wives…
The ladies don’t get to preview the episodes before they air. They are watching along with viewers, which means the ladies have just learned how they were edited. As for Imani, she says, “I was extremely disappointed with the way I was portrayed. I feel as though I was portrayed as judgmental and mean, which is the farthest thing from who I am… To me, they painted the show to make Draya Little Bo Peep and all the other girls as the Big Bad Wolves, and it was sooooooo not like that in real life.”
Little Bo Peep? Perhaps Draya did get a more sympathetic edit, but that doesn’t change the fact that, edit or not, Imani still called her cast mate “worthless.” She explains, “That was a very emotional and impulsive action on my part. Prior to us going into the passion party (completely off camera and in the hotel lobby), it was brought to all of our attention by Jackie, about Draya’s arrest and what the charges were.” So, Jackie, huh?
She explains, “At the time, Casey Anthony was a huge topic in the news for ‘neglecting’ her child as well, and we all know how that ended…So when the box of adjectives was passed around for me to pick from, I looked on top and that was one of the first words I saw, and out of emotion and in the heat of the moment I just picked it and put it in Draya’s box. I regretted it instantly.”
When asked if Imani feels that the show portrays Draya as being bullied by the other women, she responds, “As a viewer I agree, but as someone that was in a lot of the scenes for the full 2-4 hour duration, I strongly disagree! There were a lot of things that transpired that the viewers have no clue about because A LOT of important details were edited out.”
Speaking of Draya, lately there have been some rumors of a Kimmie Kardashian-esque tape (minus the potty play) that documents the BBW’s reality star’s sexy time with R&B bad boy (I would really like to call him something else, but I’m trying to have love in my heart) Chris Brown. The pair dated for most of 2010, and both are denying that any such video exists. TMZ is reporting that Draya is contacting attorneys in an attempt to stop whoever is spreading the allegations.
Maybe Draya will address the Chris Brown gossip on the first part of the reunion, which airs tonight on VH1 (8PM ET). What we can expect, according to Imani, is for the women’s true colors to shine through. She teases, “I think we all showed who we REALLY are at the reunion. Some came out redeemed, others were exposed for the nut bag they are… You just have to watch.” Nut bag? I wonder to whom she is referring? Certainly not Jackie, even though she answered a resounding “YES!” to fan questions as to whether her co-star was actually crazy…
