When we last left the ladies ofBasketball Wives, Tami Roman had enlisted Suzie Ketcham to do her bidding in breaking down new girl Tasha Marbury while she sipped on her lukewarm Bud Lite and hoped for crazy drama As last night's episode began,Evelyn Lozada and Shaunie O'Neal avert their eyes as Suzie questions Tasha about her husband's rumored affair. Instead of getting defensive or starting to scream and throw things, Tasha calmly says that yes, it did happen, and she's not going to lie about it. She stays classy and keeps her cool. Remind me again why she's on this show?
Tami then has the nerve to tell Tasha that she can't believe how rude Suzie was to ask the question. Tasha knows that it comes with the lifestyle, and Tami is shocked to learn that Tasha and Stephon did pay off the mistress. Evelyn is just happy that her friend was able to keep the energy from going to that negative place the ladies are so used to going.
The following day, Evelyn and Suzie are cruising the Hudson and discussing the dinner's events. Suzie admits that she felt badly for rehashing Tasha's marital issues, and she wants to clear the air with the new girl in hopes of forging a new friendship. In Central Park, Tami and Shaunie are also discussing the evening. Tami learned from Tasha that Shaunie and Evelyn told her that things could go really badly with Tami at their initial meeting. Tami confronts her friend about painting her in a negative light. While Shaunie understands where Tami is coming from, she still stands by her statement. After all, the women got along didn't they?
Y'all realize that Shaunie O'Neal is laughing all the way to the bank, right? The Basketball Wives creator and Executive Producer thinks she has a franchise hit on her hands, although, has she watched the L.A. version?
She doesn't care about how the women are perceived, she just cares about the ratings, and she pretty much says just that in a recent interview. I can't say I'm surprised, but you'd think that Shaunie would at least have the sense to keep her smugness to herself. Who I am kidding, this is Nostrils we're talking about!
Real Housewives of Miami held steady at 1.3 million. Meanwhile, Bravo's surprise (to me) hit Below Deck attracted its largest audience yet, with 1.75 million viewers. That's up 200,000 from last week's 1.55 million.
Finally, 1.810 million viewers checked out the series premiere of Teen Mom 3, but only 1.554 million stuck around for the second episode. I'm not surprised roughly 250,000 viewers checked out. Two hours of any new series is overkill.
I had no clue what to expect after last week's premiere of the Feel Sorry for the Mean Girls. Evelyn Lozada can only cry so much, right? Tami Roman quickly shed her sweet ways on last night's Basketball Wives, and I was surprised at how easy it was for her to manipulate Suzie Ketcham into being her puppet. Speaking of puppets, the puppet master Shaunie O'Neal just sat back and watched smugly as things began to unravel, nostrils flaring and all!
Evelyn is meeting up with Tasha Marbury, Evelyn's longtime friend and wife of Stephon Marbury. The women are grabbing cocktails in Los Angeles. Evelyn's fingernail polish makes her look like she just got slimed by some ectoplasm. She ain't afraid of no ghosts! Seriously, it's so distracting. I can barely keep up with Tasha dishing about her husband's new life playing basketball in China while Evelyn moans about her still strong spiritual connection with Chad.
Tami is bonding with her daughters over basketball and driving skills. Her youngest is concerned when her mom offers to give her lessons…after all, both girls know just how "impatient" their mother is if things don't go exactly her way. Just how did all these crazed women wind up with such sweet, grounded children? Does the hateful, hair-pulling gene skip a generation?
Well, I don't know about y'all, but after Monday night's premiere of Basketball Wives, I'm curious to see where newbie Tasha Marbury fits in with this illustrious group of "ladies."
Tasha, who is married to former NBA star Stephon Marbury has admitted to agreeing to the show so that she had something independent of being known for the man she married. Stephon used to play for the Boston Celtics, and he's recently signed on to play in China for the Bejing Ducks. While that's great for him, I really just want his wife to make an appearance on BBW because she's rumored to ruffle Shaunie O'Neal's feathers!
Words can't even describe how much Basketball Wives'Shaunie O'Neal grates on my nerves. She doesn't own her inner mean girl, and she lets Evelyn Lozada and Tami Roman do her bidding while she sits back feigning clean hands. This season is going to be no different, I presume.
However, on Monday's premiere, Nostrils promised to be more outspoken and not hold back in what she's thinking. Did I miss the part where she promises to be arrogant to the point of making me nauseous? Because she is.
The Monday reality TV viewer numbers are in and they're not too shabby!
Basketball Wives is back with a bang! The season 5 premiere episode pulled in 2.39 million viewers. Now let's just hope that the audience wasn't turned off by the hour long 'woe is Evelyn' fest. I don't mean to be cold hearted, but it was a bit much and I hope they don't plan to dwell in it all season.
This is going to be good, y'all! The mean girls are back with tagalong Suzie Ketcham trailing not far behind. It will be interesting to see if Evelyn Lozada, Shaunie O'Neal, and Tami Roman can keep their promise to keep tempers in check. Newbie Tasha Marbury is also going to be thrown into the craziness, but not this week. Of course, first VH1 needs to explain away Ev & Ocho.
A bittersweet melody plays as we're treated to a photo montage of Evelyn and Chad Johnson's wedding peppered with redacted police reports and Chad's mugshot. A somber Evelyn tells of her brother-in-law's death two days after she learned of Chad's cheating and the subsequent head butt that left her with several stitches in her forehead. She feels like people blamed her for ruining Chad's career. Is this Basketball Wives or the lead in for a 20/20 special?
