Bethenny Frankel UsWeekly

Bethenny Frankel continues her attempt at world domination as she once again graces another magazine cover, to once again discuss her past dieting issues.

Bethenny, star of the upcoming Bethenny Ever After on Bravo, is on the latest cover of UsWeekly magazine under the heading, “I Was Obsessed With Being Thin.”

The 5-foot-6 reality star reveals she weighs 123 pounds and maintains an everything-in-moderation, guilt-free approach to eating. Bethenny, who has ten-month-old daughter Bryn with sales exec hubby Jason Hoppy, 39, however makes it clear that giving up the guilt was a lifelong battle.

“I spent my entire life being obsessed with dieting,” says Bethenny. “Bingeing and then fasting or starving. Forbidding everything. That’s how I used to be: up and down 5 pounds every single day, to the extremes. My metabolism was totally wrecked.”

According to Bethenny, her issues with food first started at age eight — when her mom sent her to a New York obesity clinic — and continued well into her thirties. Below are some excerpts from Bethenny’s interview -

Bethenny On Diet Extremes

“Truthfully, I grew up and I took laxatives for periods of time. I did suffer from constipation for most of my life. I don’t know if I took them because of that or because I wanted to be skinny, or if it was a combination of both. I also did the Jane Fonda workouts in seventh grade. And I would go buy magazines just to see what the new diet was and rip it out: the cabbage-soup diet, the stewardess diet, the Atkins diet, the Scarsdale diet, the Beverly Hills diet. I’ve been on 5,000 diets.”

Bethenny On Being Told To Lose Weight By A Casting Agent -

“Yes. A casting agent for Aaron Spelling – it had to be, like, 1992 – said, If you’re going to be an actress, you should maybe take off 10, 15 pounds. So I went on a diet. I went to Diet Center, where they would weigh you every morning. I lost 8 pounds.”

Bethenny On Her Relationship With Food Today -

“It’s more about balance. Eating real when you can. At a minimart the other day, I ate corn nuts and looked at the back of the package: They were corn, oil and salt. But compared to neon-orange potato chips, it’s the lesser of two evils. People assume that I’m going to tell everyone that everything needs to be organic, local and vegan every day. It’s not like that. Yesterday, I had a little bit of gelato and a red velvet cupcake. You can go into a deli and have a bag of potato chips and it’s OK. You can have pizza.”
