Paging allBig Brother fans! Big Brother 14 premieres Thursday, July 12 at 9 pm ET on CBS. That’s right, there’s only one more week to sleep and pay attention to your families! Big Brother airs LIVE every Thursday at 9 pm ET, hosted by Julie Chen. The “catch up” episodes air Sundays at 8 pm ET (starts July 15) and Wednesdays at 8 pm ET (starts July 18).
If that’s not enough Big Brother for you, as always, you can catch 3 hours of nightly live action on Big Brother: After Dark on Showtime 2 and subscribe to the live feeds for 24/7 uncensored access to the Big Brother house. This is the real Big Brother, not that highly edited crap CBS shows us on Sunday and Wednesday nights.
Big Brother 14 will have the most hamsters ever with 12 new houseguests and 4 returning houseguests (the four HUGE surprises we were promised). Grumble, bitch, moan, grumble – shoot me if one of the four is the highly annoying Rachel Reilly! “Four epic players – including fan favorites and winners – are coming in with their own agenda,” says executive producer Allison Grodner. “It’s a game within a game, if you will.” Allison describes this season’s house décor as “urban pop” and “very youthful.”
I don’t know how many of you are keeping up with the battle of the super networks over Big Brother, but the lawsuit is getting nasty. Like, Miss Jackson nasty!
Here’s the background info: ABC just developed a new reality show called Glass House. The premise is pretty much that big brother is always watching a bunch of wannabe stars living in a glass house and competing for prizes.
Well, if that sounds familiar to you – CBS agrees. They sent ABC a cease and desist letter demanding the show be pulled as it is a blatant rip off of Big Brother, the long running and immensely popular reality show built around a similar premise.
Well, now CBS is suing ABC! Whoa… is the earth going to implode now? TMZ reports that the suit is now in a LA federal court and CBS’s suit alleges: “If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then CBS should take pride in ABC’s latest reality television project, ‘Life in a Glass House.’” They are calling the show a “carbon copy” of Big Brother and accuses ABC of making an “obvious attempt … to capitalize on its unique success.”
CBS loves a reality crossover! Unfortunately for viewers, Survivors turned Survivors turned Amazing Race contestants turned Survivor (you get my drift) Rob and Amber Mariano have been replaced with a new over-exposed celebreality power couple.
Rachel Reilly and Brendon Villegas were the Big Brother couple many people loved to hate. We watched the pair fall in love on Season 12 of the hit show (who thought that would last?) and get engaged before returning for Round Two on the following season. Season 13 brought more of the same for the hot-and-cold, drama-loving pair when they returned with other former BB twosomes to switch up the show’s dynamic (sound familiar, Survivor?) with Rachel going on to win the $500,000 grand prize after her honey got the boot (yet again).
Well, now it seems the couple will have another chance to win over our hearts as they compete in the twentieth season of Amazing Race. Thanksgiving weekend, there were several reports that the new season was filming at Los Angeles International Airport, and among the traveling partners were Rachel and Brendon. Someone has to fill Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca’s shoes though, right?
Perhaps the pair will be the first CBS power couple to actually win Amazing Race. There have been several past crossover pairs, but only Rob and Amber have come close to taking home the title when they finished second on Season 7… not to be confused with when they traveled the world on the “all-star” edition of the series. If these airport sightings are accurate, maybe the couple will find the popularity needed to have CBS foot the bill for a televised wedding!
The new season of Amazing Race is set to premiere early next year.
DID YOU WATCH RACHEL AND BRENDON ON BIG BROTHER? HOW DO YOU THINK THE PAIR WILL DO IN THE AMAZING RACE? THOUGHTS ON CBS RECYCLING REALITY STARS?
Last Thursday, Ragan Fox found himself the latest evicted houseguest from the Big Brother 12 house. The 34 year-old college professor from West Hollywood, CA saw his luck run out as he had no alliance members left in the game.
In a new interview with PEOPLE, Ragan discusses the difficulty of being the Saboteur, while he didn’t form any alliances, and why he wouldn’t be friends with Rachel, even on facebook. Excerpts are below -
Q: What was the hardest part of being a successful Saboteur? Did the guilt of sneaking around ever get to you?
Ragan: Hardest part was having the added stress of sabotage when my game play was falling apart. The Saboteur duties emerged the same week I split from Brendon and Rachel.
Q: You never seemed to form any strong alliances in the house. You were quick to make friendships, but no alliances. Was that strategy or was it necessity?
Ragan: Again, this was a season of friendships not alliances. Several times I tried to form alliances but it never panned out. When Kristen left I tried to scoop Hayden up, but by that point he was already really good friends with Enzo and Lane. I could have been in an alliance with Brendon and Rachel, but that would have involved being in an alliance with Brendon and Rachel — no thanks!
Q: When you suspected the guy’s alliance, why didn’t you follow your gut and try to call them out in front of the rest of the house?
Ragan: I had a hunch about the boy’s week three. The minute you start pointing a finger at people especially early in the game that’s when you form a target on your own back. So going after them early in the game meant they would have come after me early in the game.
Q: Going into a Jury House with Rachel and Brendon, what do you think your first words to them will be? You said your feelings for Brendon had “evolved.” Why? Do you think your feelings for Rachel will evolve as well?
Ragan: My feelings for Brendon have evolved because Rachel brings out the worst in Brendon. Once she left he was a much friendlier person. Regarding Rachel, my feelings have not evolved. I have no interest pursuing any type of relationship with her. I would not even be friends with her on Facebook — that request would be “denied.” First words will be, “Happy to see me?!”
On last night’s episode of Big Brother, we saw Britney get eliminated after being informed of the Brigade alliance. And just like that on of the Brigade douchebags members will win Big Brother 12. The 3-part HOH competition began last night, and tonight we will find out who won the first part.
TELL US – OF THE FINAL THREE BIG BROTHER CONTESTANTS, WHO ARE YOU ROOTING FOR?
On July 9th, the Eleventh season of Big Brotherpremiers on CBS. This will broadcast three times weekly beginning Sunday July 12 (8:00-9:00pm, ET), Tuesday July 14 (9:00-10:00, ET). Julie Chen, who is now pregnant will continue to host the LIVE eviction shows – baby bump and all.
Big Brother is about a group of people living together in a house with several cameras and microphones recording their every activity 24 hours a day. Contestants will compete against, yell at and occasionally sleep with one another. Each week, someone will be evicted by other members of the house. At the end of the three months competition, the last man or woman standing will receive the grand prize of half a million dollars and fame.
Big Brother is arguably my favorite reality show, and I’m very excited for the new season to premier. Season 8 with Eric and Jessica is probably my favorite season of all time. And what can I say about the way Dan from last season played the game? Definitely one of the best players in the game’s history.
Tell Us: Are you looking forward to the new season? What is your favorite BB season?
