Brad Womack

While this current season of The Bachelor has been drama free and going according to script for the most part, that changed last week when one of the contestants, Madison Garton, decided to quit the show.

In a new interview with PEOPLE, Madison, 25, a model from Brooklyn who is now infamous for her fake fangs, explains the reason she decided to walk out on Brad.

So was Emily Maynard’s emotional story the real reason she quit? “It was definitely the Emily thing that set it off,” states Madison. “When she came clean, it pulled on my heartstrings. I felt like I was competing for something I wasn’t necessarily sure I needed. You feel less deserving. They all have these stories and heartache and they need this love.”

As for why she didn’t want to fight for Brad, Madison explains “fighting other girls for a guy has never been my style.” She adds, “Had I stepped out of the limo and knew he was going to be my husband, I would have been in a stronger fight for him. But at the end of the day, did I see myself being his Texas housewife? Not sure. Could we have worked? Maybe. Probably not. He said he’d have a hard time bringing me home to his grandmother.”

And what’s with the fangs? “I have always been into the darker side of things and love the mystery and sexiness of vampires. I became friends with the leader of the underground vampire world. He had a fangsmith so I had a pair made,” she explains.

In other news, reports came out recently that revealed the criminal past of Brad Womack. According to a RadarOnline report, Brad, 38, was first arrested back in 1993 for carrying a forged driver’s license. Other past arrests include public intoxication and being found guilty of passing a bad check.

In a statement given to PEOPLE magazine, Brad admits his criminal past. “I’m sure I wouldn’t be the first to admit that I had a couple of missteps when I was a teenager – some 20 odd years ago. Some of the claims have been blown out of proportion but I took responsibility for my actions and took immediate measures to remedy the situation,” says Brad.

A new episode of The Bachelor airs tonight on ABC at 8/7c. A mugshot of Brad, updated in 2009, is below. The mugshot is reportedly recent because the state of Texas monitors its criminal convictions.

Two days following the lackluster premiere episode of The Bachelor season 15 featuring Brad Womack, it seems a new controversy is brewing.

The “controversy” involves the slap heard around the world. While Brad was meeting his 30 bachelorettes, one of the ladies, Chantal O’Brien, decided to give him what appeared to be a playful slap on behalf of all the scorned women in America. Chantal was referring Brad’s actions during his previous season of the Bachelor during which he dumped both of his final two picks.

TMZ is now raising the question of whether or not Chantal should be prosecuted for the slap. “If Amber Portwood gets prosecuted for beating on her boyfriend, what’s the difference?” asks TMZ.

Brad however tells the blog he sees no issue with Chantal’s actions. “I think what Chantal did was a light-hearted gesture which I took as such. I do not condone violence in any relationship, nor would I keep someone around who I felt truly wished to do me harm,” said Brad.

Famed attorney Gloria Allred also agrees with Brad as she tells TMZ Chantal should not be prosecuted as the slap was an isolated instance with no significant injuries.

According to a TMZ poll, 67% polled believe the slap was innocent with the other 33% thinking it was criminal. Interesting.

On the 2-hour premiere, Brad, 38, will move into the familiar Los Angeles mansion, where he will be greeted by 30 bachelorettes. Yes 30, a huge difference from the 20 bachelorettes Jake Pavelka had to pick from last season. So why the additional ladies? “We’ve added episodes and gone to two hours of late. We can also expect to see a very buff Brad in many shirtless scenes this season. “The rule with Brad is he could not have his shirt on more than 30 percent of the time,” Chris joked. “It’s an incredibly sexy season.”

And finally, an happy ending awaits us this season as Brad himself as confirmed he definitely falls in love and picks someone. “I did find somebody, I did fall in love … a true love story happened,” stated Brad.

The new season of the Bachelor airs tonight at 8/7c.

TELL US – WILL YOU BE TUNING IN TONIGHT? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE PREMIERE EPISODE?

Following the very dramatic and scandalous last season of the Bachelor, the ABC hit show returns this year in what is being called a scandal free season.

The 15th season of the Bachelor brings us back Brad Womack, a 38-year-old Texas bar owner. ABC’s decision to choose Brad as the new bachelor was met with some criticism as some felt he already had his chance and blew it. This is in reference to Brad’s now infamous decision to not pick either of this two finalists, DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft, back in 2007.

In a new interview with PEOPLE magazine, Brad reveals he has turned a new leaf and even declares he is “very much in love” with his final pick. “I did find love, and I’m very happy to say that,” Brad said. “I’m very much in love. I’m a happy guy.”

Brad adds, “A true love story happened.” The new season of the Bachelor premieres Jan. 3 (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.

In related Bachelor news, Dancing With The Stars professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy blogged recently that he is now filming the Ukrainian version of the Bachelor. Even more interesting, Maksim revealed ABC had asked him to be the Bachelor on the US version but he declined.

Many fans were shocked to hear that Brad Womack of the Bachelor season 11 was once again chosen to be the new bachelor on the upcoming season 15, as Brad is notorious for dumping both of his final two contestants during his 2007 season.

But ready or not, the new season has been filmed and is all set to premiere early next year on ABC! In the preview clip below, we see that Brad really really wants us to know that he is indeed a changed man, but the best part of the clip is when one of his bachelorettes decides to give him a slap on behalf of all women.

According to an ABC executive, the women had heard rumors of Brad being the next bachelor but they did not know for sure until they got out of the limo.

“The rumors about Brad were out there and some of the girls had seen them and were prepared for Brad but for a majority of them, it was a surprise,” the executive tells Entertainment Weekly.

The new season of The Bachelor premieres Monday, Jan. 3 at 8/7c on ABC. A preview clip is below -

TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE PREVIEW? WILL YOU BE TUNING IN?

It’s official! Following weeks of speculation, ABC has officially confirmed Brad Womack will be returning as the new Bachelor.

The announcement came during last night’s episode of Dancing With The Stars.  For those of you not familiar with Brad, he was the season 11 Bachelor back in 2007, and became infamous after dumping both of his final two picks.

ABC is however claiming Brad, 37, is now a changed man.  According to the network, Brad has undergone “intensive therapy” and has been on a “quite painful journey of self-awareness” since the 2007 fiasco.

Brad, a Texas bar owner, is also set to appear on the Ellen show today, during which he will admit to having some “commitment issues” in the past.

“More importantly, that [Bachelor] process is difficult,” said Brad in the Ellen interview. “I thought that I was as open as I was supposed to be and clearly I wasn’t. I walked away and wound up all alone and left two girls standing there.”

Brad also assures fans of the show that things will be different this go.  “I know it’s tough to believe it’s a television show but…I am a completely different person. I don’t want to visit that thought.”

Moving right along to last night’s Dancing With The Stars episode.  For the most part, all of the stars showed major improvement over their first dance with the sole exception of Michael Bolton, who earned the lowest score of the night – a 12 for his dull jive, which Bruno called the worst jive dance in the history of the show.

Despite being toted as the one to beat, Brandy and partner Maksim failed to impress last night, falling to the middle of the pack with a score of 21.  The highest score of the night once again went to Jennifer Grey, scoring a 24 for her impressive quickstep dance.

A full recap of last night’s scores below -

Jennifer Grey & Derek Hough: 24
Audrina Patridge & Tony Dovolani: 23
Bristol Palin & Mark Ballas: 22
Kyle Massey & Lacey Schwimmer: 22
Brandy & Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 21
Kurt Warner & Anna Trebunskaya: 21
Rick Fox & Cheryl Burke: 21
Florence Henderson & Corky Ballas: 19
Margaret Cho & Louis van Amstel: 18
The Situation & Karina Smirnoff: 18
Michael Bolton & Chelsie Hightower: 12

TELL US – WHO SHOULD BE SENT HOME ON TONIGHT’S DWTS?

Avid Bachelor watcher, Elisabeth Hasselbeck of The View, is not happy with ABC’s reported choice for the next Bachelor.

As we reported last week, the buzz is that indecisive former Bachelor, Brad Womack, has been chosen once again to be the next Bachelor.

“Ugh!” she told UsWeekly. “Translation: They couldn’t find somebody!” Elisabeth might be onto something as several media outlets have reported that ABC’s first choice, Chris Lambton, turned them down.

Brad, 27, became infamous in 2007 when he left the final two women, DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft, broken hearted by not choosing either of them. At the time, the Bachelor was still somewhat of a classy show, hence Brad’s decision shocking fans of the show.

Elisabeth, 33, feels that Brad doesn’t deserve a second shot at love, at least not on TV. “He didn’t have enough choices before? How many women do you need, Brad?” she asked. “They should really reevaluate that one.”

In other Bachelor news, Entertainment Weekly is confirming ABC will officially announce the new Bachelor on tonight’s episode of Dancing With The Stars.

Is The Bachelor franchise ready to do something it has never done before?

According to Star magazine, that answer is yes! Star is reporting that Brad Womack, who starred on 11th season of the Bachelor in 2007, has been chosen to once again star on the upcoming season. Brad is infamous for not picking anyone during his season, dumping his final two women, Deanna Pappas and Jenni Croft.

“All signs are pointing to Brad being the next Bachelor,” Bachelor insider Steve Carbone tells Star. “And it’s not that far fetched because apparently they asked him last year before asking Jake Pavelka.”

This comes as a huge surprise as ABC had been privately and publicly courting Chris Lambton to be the next Bachelor, but as reported back in August, Chris refused ABC’s offer citing that he wanted to step away from the spotlight and return to his “normal life.”

Star magazine adds that ABC will be making the announcement any day now. PEOPLE magazine is also reporting that the next season of the Bachelor is scheduled to begin filming next month.
