They're rich, they're fabulous – wait, no that's only some of them. Anyway Real Housewives of Beverly Hills returns! In its third season Bravo welcomes new Housewives and brings back some of the old favorites. Some we want to see back (Lisa, Lisa, Lisa!) and some… well yeah, we're a little less excited about.
Oh gracious. Would I be totally remiss to suggest that maybe Real Housewives of Beverly Hills'Brandi Glanville and her nemesis/frenemy/mistress turned wife of her ex-husband LeAnn Rimes could possibly in cahoots to get twice the attention? I mean, first LeAnn checks into rehab because she loses a Twitter battle (Lindsay Lohan, take note) to Brandi's zombie followers, and the next thing you know, there is a rumor circulating that the real reason for the former singer's "exhaustion and anxiety" is that LeAnn's hubby Eddie Cibrian is cheating on his current wife with his former wife. Follow? I don't blame you.
If you think about it, it's truly a diabolical plan, and it benefits both of them. Brandi gets to enact her revenge on her skeezy husband and his homewrecking new wife, while LeAnn finally appears oh-so-slightly sympathetic. Kind of. If you can over look the fact that she got into a Twitter war with commoners. So no, not really. At all.
Last week LeAnn Rimes – who is not a reality star but whose life certainly warrants a reality show – entered rehab after filing a lawsuit against twitter followers she claims harassed her over Brandi Glanville, who as you know is a reality star.
This prompted Fox News to do a little investigative reporting into what they are terming the "dark side" of twitter. And it does posit an interesting question: Is social media ruining even celebrities lives?
"I've been built up and torn down, built up and torn down," LeAnn previously told People. "It's been difficult to tune people out, especially in the last few years." The singer decided to go into rehab to learn "coping mechanisms" to help her deal with the constant social media onslaught. Here's a tip: Don't engage the crazies! Especially if you are one of the crazies.
Aaaahhh… Brandi Glanville vs LeAnn Rimes. If ever there were two people who needed their own reality show. If you aren't up to speed on what's been happening here's a brief rundown: Brandi was once married to a fine gentleman named Eddie Cibrian, who left her for LeAnn – once a mistress now a wife.
LeAnn starts copying everything Brandi does and has been allegedly harassing her on Twitter. She amasses an army of regular folk to join in on the bashing. Brandi hates LeAnn but wants to make fake nice for her kids…. sometimes. LeAnn likes dryhumping Brandi's ex-husband in front of staged paparazzi and her step-sons. Brandi no likey. Brandi also no likey LeAnn.
LeAnn, who recently entered a thirty day treatment center for anxiety, is now embroiled in a lawsuit with a teacher and mother of six due to a Twitter battle between pro-Brandi followers and pro-LeAnn followers. The singer (former singer?) filed a suit against high school teacher Kim Smiley for invasion of privacy after Kim allegedly recorded a phone conversation between herself and LeAnn regarding Brandi.
Now, there are so many different tabloid rumors swirling about the uber-wealthy housewife, from her crumbling friendships to her faltering empire to her headline-making divorce. Are things ever going to go back to normal for the woman I once considered to be too down-to-earth for the over-the-top franchise?
I can't. I just can't. The Real Housewives of Orange County may be the original housewives (although most aren't, in fact, wives), but sometimes they are also the most ridiculous. Let's take Gretchen Rossi, for example. She's not a wife–and with Slade Smiley as her beau she may never be one–but, like her counterparts, she loves to talk about whatever it takes to keep her in the spotlight.
For example, last week, Gretchen was yapping about how former best friend/current nemesis Alexis Bellinocopied her hairstyle…because that's news. This week, Gretchen is sharing with us her workout routine while applauding herself for overcoming bulimia. Wait…didn't Alexis say she struggled with bulimia growing up when the ladies took a quick trip to Texas during season six? Who is the copycat now, Gretch?
It's an understatement to say that LeAnn Rimes is having one helluva week. What should've been a fun week as she turned 30, turned into one filled with lawsuits and rehab!
LeAnn'srep shared this morning that she had entered a 30-day treatment program for stress and anxiety. "LeAnn has voluntarily entered a 30 day in-patient treatment facility to cope with anxiety and stress. While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."
