We recently reported that Lynne Curtin of The Real Housewives of Orange County received an eviction notice from her landlord, giving her just 3 days to pay up or leave. Well the 3 days are now up, and Lynne has yet to pay up or move according to TMZ.
The reason being? Well it appears Lynne and her husband, Frank Curtin, are now claiming the legal document is invalid because it was served on their daughter — who happens to be a minor.
The Curtins, who rent the home they live in on the show, allegedly owe their landlord more than $12,000 in rent and other expenses.
According to TMZ, the Curtins have now lawyered up with plans to contest the eviction. Their landlord however still plans to re-serve the eviction notice, hopefully to an adult this time.
Something about this story is a tad sad, as it appears Lynne and her husband truly cannot afford to pay the $12,000 they owe. Lynne is one of the nicer housewives so it makes it sadder to see this happen to her. However, I do think people should think twice before choosing to appear on a reality show, that solely focuses on the personal lives of the wealthy, especially if they are not wealthy and cannot afford to pay the rent on their rented home.
Atlanta “Housewife” Kim Zolciak is touching on a lot of issues in her new interview with Essence.com. Kim speaks out on fighting with Nene and Sheree, her new leaked single – “Don’t Be Tardy To The Party,” plus her relationship with the infamous Big Poppa aka Lee Najjar.
Below are some excerpts from the interview -
ESSENCE.COM: Your first release, “Tardy for the Party,” was leaked on the Internet yesterday. What happened?
KIM ZOLCIAK: I’m super pissed off about it. I never released that song to Ryan Seacrest or anyone else. It was going to be on iTunes and I wanted people to see all the thought that went into it, along the timeline of the show so you can see me in the studio and watch me go through the whole process. This is just not how I wanted to release my first song. There’s a snake out there. I just have to figure out who it is.
ESSENCE.COM: NeNe’s new book, “Never Make the Same Mistake Twice,” just came out. Have you read it?
ZOLCIAK: I have not read the book yet, but hell yeah, if she wrote about me, I’m going to read it. I mean, she had to write about me in order to sell the book. She told me, ‘Well, maybe you should read it on your way back from New York. So I don’t know what she wrote but I do wish her success and I’m happy for her.
ESSENCE.COM: You two came to blows a few months ago. There was a police report indicating that NeNe assaulted you. What happened?
ZOLCIAK: Nene and I have decided to just move on from that. Yes, there was altercation but we’ve talked in great length about it and we’re just both on to bigger and better things like her book and my wig line. NeNe and I care about each other and because we do, sometimes emotions run a lot higher than if we didn’t care at all.
ESSENCE.COM: Thanks for bringing that up. Photos of what appears to be you and a man named Lee Najjar walking on a beach popped up on the Web recently. Is Lee Najjar Big Papa?
ZOLCIAK: There are a lot of people who are alleged to be Big Papa and I know all of them, from Dallas Austin to Lee Najjar to Quincy Jones to Ted Turner. You just have to stay tuned and watch what happens to see who Big Papa really is.
ESSENCE.COM: This season has been a lot for you—between the fight with NeNe and the hair pulling with Sheree. How are you dealing with it all?
ZOLCIAK: It’s been incredibly stressful and my best friend Cori has been my rock. My girls are always trying to pump me up and they keep me grounded. I can’t deny that I do get emotional and ask myself sometimes, ‘Oh, my God, what have I done?’ But it’s a catch-22 and I just keep moving forward.
ESSENCE.COM: Tonight, Bravo has added an extra hour, featuring more details about your fight with Sheree. Do you think this is all overkill?
ZOLCIAK: All I know is that Sheree acted a fool. I mean, who does that as a grown woman? It was immature and I was really caught off guard by the whole thing. I guess controversy sells. We’re not the highest rated because we go to church and bake cookies.
Tonight is the finale of Bravo’sMiami Social. Above is a preview of what is to come. We get to see Maria go on a first date, Katrina wavers on whether or not to sign those pesky divorce papers, and the biggest shocker of all comes in the form of Hardy proposing to girlfriend, Trixia.
Katrina gives us a great quote – “If it’s taken you six years to figure out if they’re the one, they’re probably not the one.” Great foreshadowing there Trina.
Nene seems to believe her stripper past has no reflection on her presence as an “Atlanta socialite,” saying, “What difference does it make if I danced or not?” she asks. “Is the sun going to stop shining? Is my past taking food out of your mouth?”
Nene proceeds to explain her reasons for stripping, “[I stripped] for the sake of my son, and to restore my confidence in myself,” she explains. “My son was in private school, his father wasn’t chipping in for pull-ups or food, I had no job and no money coming in, the rent was past due, and the super told me and my roommate that our condo owner was about to put us out. It was about survival.”
The ex-stripper, who referred to herself as Silk during her dancing days as a twentysomething year old – admits that she liked the power that came with being a stripper. “I could make $500 off one guy just by turning him on.” These men “were obviously there to see what I had, and I quickly realized that those men weren’t there to make me feel bad about myself.”
Interestingly, it has always been said that Nene’s husband, Gregg Leakes, met her at a strip club while she was working. Fellow castmate, Kim Zolciak was also outed has being a past stripper by her former publicist. My favorite part of this story is that she stripped to restore confidence in herself – brings out the lols.
In not so shocking news, another Bravo housewife is now facing an eviction. TMZ reports Lynne Curtin of The Real Housewives of Orange County, along with her husband Frank Curtin, received a 3-day eviction notice from the owner of the Laguna Beach house where they live. And yes, their home is rented.
According to TMZ, Lynne could be evicted from her home if she doesn’t come up with more than $12,000 in the next three days.
The notice says the couple owes the home owner a $10,000 security deposit, $600 late fee and $1,763 in other expenses. The homeowner also claims the Curtins have been delinquent on their utilities, which have now been shut off.
It gets even better worse, as Bravo cameras were said to be rolling when the eviction notice was served. No word on whether or not this will be shown when the show returns this fall. Knowing Bravo, something tells me it will.
The alleged chokegate involving Nene Leakes and Kim Zolciak of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has been making recent headlines. Kim filed a police report back in April, accusing Nene of choking her during an argument.
On Wednesday, NeNe claimed Kim was not an innocent victim in the alleged assault, in which Kim claims NeNe “choked her out.” NeNe appearing on Atlanta’s Q1000 radio station said of the fight. “Kim is trying to make it seem like, ‘I need an apology. I’m so hurt’.”
Kim is now admitting to OK! that she did “smack NeNe’s finger” — but insists she did not strike out first. Kim continues, “I was not pleased with the stuff that’s coming out her mouth, but as far as putting your hands on somebody, absolutely not. I didn’t touch her first.” Umm how old are these women again?
Adds Kim, “She put her hand in my face after she choked me the first time, and I smacked her finger out of my face.” This fight was allegedly taped for the show, so it’s safe to say we will be seeing it on Bravo in the near future.
In other news, Nene’s broke husband Gregg Leakes‘s legal records are making its rounds. According to a public search, Gregg has been involved in 17 legal cases in recent years. These cases range from non payment of child support , receiving stolen propery, to writing bad checks.
People with skeletons might want to think twice before choosing to appear on reality shows. Just a thought.
Tamra claims that this was a “business decision” after she and her husband lost $600,000 on the house.
However a reader the Register’s comments section had a different view on the issue, posting the following -
When a home goes to a short sale their credit is SHOT, the Barney’s will be lucky if anyone will even RENT to them! They’re deadbeats who obviously don’t pay their bills. A short sale is a last attempt before FORECLOSURE. I don’t know who they’re trying to fool with the custom home.
Banks don’t loan money on a new home if they haven’t paid for their old mortgage. The Barney’s are HIGH RISK and lenders are very careful now, this is BS. Three lates on a mortgage and banks won’t look at you for at least 2 years after the last late payment.
All very interesting. The show mentioned last season that Tamra’s husband, Simon Barney, lost quit his job with a Mercedes car dealership.
Despite a report by TMZ revealing that Lisa Wu Hartwell and husband Ed Hartwell had their home foreclosed, Lisa is now denying the foreclosure to People magazine. We were “not evicted, it was a short-sell. It was not a foreclosure,” says Lisa.
Lisa, 38, continues, “It was decision that we made and not one that was made for us. But we were not put out.” As for the TMZ report that the couple defaulted on their bank loan, she re-affirms that an attempt to restructure the loan “didn’t work out.” Lisa claims, “we chose to move, we were not evicted.”
It seems short-sell is what they’re calling foreclosures nowadays. I take it she “chose” to move after receiving notification of a foreclosure from her bank. Even her rep confirmed the foreclosure story yesterday. Plus TMZ has documents confirming the story.
Lisa however admits her family has moved into a new “downsized” home in a neighboring community due to the pressure of the recession. This clashes with the comment her rep made yesterday, saying the couple has moved into a new home sitting on 10 acres. Not sure how 10 acres is downsizing.
