After performances by Natasha Bedingfield and the Macy’s Stars of Dance, we have Boys II Men on the stage. Sometimes I’m a little confused about the purpose of these results shows. They just don’t have much to do with the DWTS, in my humble opinion. It’s not that I don’t enjoy the extra dances and musical guests, maybe I just don’t have the patience for it when I’m waiting for them to get on with the eliminations?
The “Bottom Two” couples become Gladys and Tristan vs. Roshon and Chelsie, who must dance in front of the judges in a dance duel. The couples dance the jive for this one and they both did a great job, but the judges have to pick only one. Carrie Ann and Len praised them both for their efforts. Len tells Gladys again that she dances with her heart, just like she sings. Bruno tells her it’s been an honor to have her on the show.
When it’s all over, Bruno and Len choose to save Roshon and Chelsie, which means Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus are eliminated. Gladys has had low numbers all along, but I was secretly hoping she’d turn it around and stay longer.

The Dancing with the Stars contestants got their rock ‘n roll on tonight. It was a sea of black satin, big hair, and lame fauxhawks. And no season of DWTS is ever complete without at least a half a dozen injuries or so. Oh, and pretend “groupies” gyrating on the judges table.
Brooke Burke really got into the spirit of the night with some huge ’80′s hair that would make Dee Snider jealous.
Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus tried their hardest to dance to a difficult song, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, which the judges gave them credit for attempting, but they weren’t impressed. Carrie Ann didn’t think it came together well and their posture wasn’t strong enough. I gave them an extra point for Gladys’ costume!
Cheryl Burke and William Levy received stern words about their goofs, which included a fumble or two that threw off their rhythm and caused them to go on too long. Carrie Ann told them they needed to stay focused.
Chelsea Hightower and Roshon Fegan gave it their all and the judges were thrilled. Carrie Ann gushed that she thinks Roshon is the best dancer among this season’s men.
Maria Menounos and Derek Hough danced an incredible tango to “School’s Out”, despite Maria’s foot injury. Maria was a trooper and never let us see how much pain she is in, but all Len could muster for her was a “just pretty good”. Carrie Ann was blown away by their chemistry. Derek did his best to get a few sympathy votes by carrying Maria upstairs for their score reveal.
Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff drew criticism for the form/posture, dancing to ‘Paint it Black’.
The top scorers of the evening, Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd kicked up the heat in a paso doble to Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze”. The judges were blown away, with Carrie Ann Inaba dubbing it “psychedelic, bizarre, sexy, raunchy, hot. One of the most memorable moments.”
Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy disappeared after their performance because Melissa needed to be seen for an injury and it couldn’t wait. From updates shared this morning, Melissa was suffering from whiplash and a concussion.
I don’t know about you, but this season is just a little ho-hum for me. It needs a shake up. Get some Housewives on there. An entire contestant lineup of just Housewives.

The hotness known as Maksim or is it ‘Mad Maks’ rather blew a fuse during the live competition last night following some harsh criticism by Len. After dancing a sexy rumba with his partner/soccer player Hope Solo, Len stated it was Hope’s “worst dance of the season.”
“I always feel like there is so much there, and for some reason it hasn’t come out,” stated Len, 67. “This is your worst dance of the season in my opinion.”
Maksim, 31, made it clear he did not agree with Len’s comments which promtped Len to tell him: “I’ve been in this business for 50 years.” Maksim was less than impressed as he promptly retorted: “Then maybe it’s time to go!”
In fact judge Carrie Ann Inabahad to step in as she scolded Maks by telling him, “Don’t be disrespectful like that!”
After receiving a low score of 20 from the judges (Chaz Bono was the only contestant to score lower with a score of 19), Maksim was unapologetic backstage! “With all due respect, this is my show. I help make it what it is,” said Maks to host Brooke Burke Charvet, leading to a slightly awkward moment.
As for Maks, the ballroom seems to be split as some of his pro dancers supported his opinion while others made it clear they did not agree with his stance.
Lacey Schwimmer agreed: “They always have their favorites, and this season it’s completely clear who they are. I won’t name names, but we are not one of them,” she said. “I’m actually proud of what Maks said. A lot of us don’t get the chance to stand up for us and our partners.”
Karina Smirnoff, who also happens to be Maksim’s ex-fiance, did not share his point of view. Karina told E! News, “We danced right after Maks so I just wanted to make sure that the judges made sure that we didn’t concur with Maks’ opinion…He needs a hug.”
Hope stated she was “so grateful” that Maks defended her while Maks has no regrets about his outburst. Maks said “I’m extremely proud of her. This is the first time she came out and she did exactly what she planned and there was no stress and no tension and it was a great performance. And I really liked dancing with her tonight. And to get comments that was the opposite of what it was, it wasn’t even upsetting, it was more like, ‘I have had enough!’ You have an opinion. I also have an opinion…The judges will say, ‘Hey, this is show business, this is supposed to be fun.’ Well, I had fun tonight.”
Playboy honcho Hugh Hefneractually broke the news on twitter Wednesday. “The May issue of Playboy is unforgettable with Dancing With The Stars‘ Karina Smirnoff on the cover & nude inside,” Hugh, 84, tweeted.
For the time being, Karina, 33, is remaining mum on her nude pictorial while a Popeater report states the Playboy spread might get her in trouble with DWTS.
“If Karina posed naked, she can kiss her dancing days goodbye,” a ‘DWTS’ insider stated. “I hope for Karina’s sake that this isn’t true.”
The reason? Apparently the folks at ABC feel having one of their dancers pose naked during an ongoing season could “soil” the wholesome image of the show.
It should however be pointed out that Playboy Playmate Kendra Wilkinson is currently a contestant on the show plus Holly Madison participated in the show a few years back. Also, show host Brooke Burke has appeared in the mag before.
The Popeater report does state the issue with Karina is that she will be appearing in the mag while the show is currently on the air. Karina, who got engaged to professional baseball player Brad Pennyback in November, has also received some criticism from fans who wonder why she has decided to pose nude. Jersey Shorestar Mike Sorrentino aka The Situation got eliminated following his very low scores from Monday night. The Sitch however took things in stride, telling co-host Brooke Burke, “You know what, I told myself if I got eliminated today, I put it all on the floor last night. I really hoped [the scores] weren’t fours. But it is what it is, and at the end of the day, someone’s got to go home.”
The Situation’s elimination wasn’t exactly a surprise as he received the lowest score on Monday night. In the bottom two with The Sitch last night was Bristol Palin, who also scored low on Monday.
The Sitch also revealed he was happy he got to show another side of himself, other than the party-boy persona that is shown on The Shore. “I’m not a dancer, and this is definitely hard,” he explained. “On ‘Jersey Shore,’ you get a little keyhole of who I am. On ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ you really get the whole Situation.”
TELL US – DID THE RIGHT PERSON GO HOME? WHO DO YOU THINK WILL BE THE NEXT TO LEAVE?
As previously reported, former backstage host Samantha Harris quit the job a few months back, and Brooke along with Melissa Rycroft and Vanessa Minnillo were the three front runners to replace her.
Many thought Melissa would get the job as she co-hosted the cast announcement just last Monday. However, insiders have now revealed to Star that Brooke, 38, who was also the Season 7 champion, will be co-hosting with Tom Bergeron this season.
The 10th season of DWTS kicks off Monday, March 22, on ABC.
