Bruce Jenner is petitioning a judge to throw out a wrongful death suit filed by the adult step-children of the victim of the fatal car accident he was involved in this February.
While it’s not entirely clear what ultimately caused the fatal car accident, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star’s SUV rear-ended a Lexus sedan driven by 69-year-old Kimberly Howe. Ms. Howe died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained from the accident, which Bruce described as a “devastating tragedy.” Five others were also injured, although Bruce was unharmed.
E!’s summer reality TV lineup thankfully doesn’t include a Kardashian spinoff -unless you count the widely anticipated docu-series about Bruce Jenner and his transition to living as a woman. But that’s not all E! is giving us this summer -there’s also more Botched to look forward to as well as a whole host of new shows so you can escape from the heat.
It’s almost been a whole entire year that Kim Kardashian stayed married to a man, ya’ll! And that man, Kanye West, wants a do-over. Well, of sorts. The couple plans to renew their vows in Paris, France, later this month. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star and her hip hop hubby, in full diva mode, will be actually be renting out the Eiffel Tower for festivities surrounding the blessed event, according to reports. A private dinner will also be held at the posh 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant.
Paris is where the couple started their media storm wedding preparation last year with family before flying to Florence, Italy, for the main event on May 24 of 2014. Kim still thinks of Paris fondly, saying, “We fell in love in Paris…and then I got pregnant with our daughter in Florence.” After their 2014 wedding, Kim also told Jimmy Kimmel that “It was the most amazing experience just to be able to share it with so many family members and friends. We wanted everyone to be on this love journey with us.”
About Bruce‘s interview with Diane Sawyer, Kim said, “It was amazing. He got such a great response, such a supportive response, and that means the world to him. This was a big step for him. He can feel the love [and the support]. That makes him so happy.”
“I’m trying to hook him up with designers now,” added Kim. No, Bruce! No! Run!
Kim said she promised Bruce she’d help him every step of the way … as long as he doesn’t try to steal her glam team. “I’m like, ‘That’s not going to work. You gotta find your own team. If you are going to do this, you have to do it right. You have to look amazing, and I’ll help you.'” #priorities
Like confetti on your clothes after a Lady Gaga concert, Bruce Jenner is in every crack and cranny you look in these days.Jenner has been all over news and gossip websites lately in the wake of his Diane Sawyer interview about gender identity, but now the February Malibu car crash Bruce refused to comment on during that interview is bubbling back up to the surface.
Kim Howe, who died in the crash, is survived by two adult stepchildren who are seeking restitution (Kim had no other living relatives). They are jointly filing a wrongful death lawsuit “claiming Bruce was ‘careless and negligent’ when he slammed into Howe’s Lexus on PCH back in February, causing it to careen into oncoming traffic where it collided head on with a Hummer,” according to TMZ. The crash itself is still being investigated by the LA County Sheriff’s Department who will send their findings to the LA county DA for possible prosecution, but sources say “it’s unlikely prosecutors will file.”
Although both sides of Bruce Jenner’s family showed public support (tweets, interviews, soundbites) in the wake of his Diane Sawyer interview last week, things aren’t as hunky-dory as they may seem. (Are they ever!?) In the new issue of US Weekly, an “inside source” reveals, “It’s still Camp Jenner and Camp Kardashian, in a major way.” (On the Kardashian side are Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Rob, Kendall, Kylie, and Kris; on the Jenner side are Burt, Casey, Brandon, and Brody, Bruce’s kids from his marriages to Chrystie Scott and Linda Thompson.) Evidence of this divide may lie in the fact that the two camps have not come together in a joint statement, joint interview, or – US is told – even in a joint viewing of the original interview on TV last Friday. US reports, “In order to keep the peace, Bruce scheduled two separate viewing sessions for the 20/20 interview, one with his Keeping Up With the Kardashians family, and one with Scott and his four eldest kids, who appeared on the ABC special in a show of solidarity with their father.”
Kylie and Kendall Jenner, the youngest of the Jenner children, and the “link” between the Jenner/Kardashian tribes in many ways, are reported to be struggling the most with Bruce’s public revelation. “The whole transition was much harder for the Kardashian kids and Kylie and Kendall,” a source tells PEOPLE. “It was hard to grasp. And there was a lot of lying to the kids over the years on Bruce’s part, even as close as they were. It’s going to take some time for the kids to get used to it all.” But one more clue of the disrupt between the families came in the form of a tweet from Burt Jenner, 36, who wrote, “Having a hard time not putting a few people on blast who were not supporters beforehand, but want to act like they were all along.” Hinting at the tension between the Jenners and Kardashians, one source tells us, “He [Burt] feels they’re [the Kardashians] only supportive now for publicity.” Burt has since deleted the tweet.
Bruce Jenner’s still untitled 8-part docuseries to be aired on E! this July will chronicle his journey transitioning from a male to female. The series will reveal not only how Bruce is handling the transition, but will also include reactions from his family along the way. But it’s not all heavy-handed, serious stuff, says Bruce. He insists there will be plenty of lighthearted, “fun” moments too, like how he’ll have to adapt his golf game when he’s walking around with new breasts. TMZ’s production sources say “Bruce’s golf game will be front and center. Bruce is a great golfer, and apparently it’s not an easy transition to swing with breasts.” The show, intended to educate the public and provide hope for those going through gender transitioning, also seeks to entertain. Sources tell TMZ that “If all you have is a downer, you don’t have a show.” Having been a staple on Keeping Up with the Kardashians for eons now, one would guess Bruce is somewhat of an expert on what makes good reality TV.
Since the show intends to balance “the dark moments, the lighthearted moments and moments that are just plain hilarious,” it’s anyone’s guess what scenes may be included. We’re promised a glimpse into the cosmetic procedures Bruce will undergo in gender reassignment as well as the social aspects of his life, such as the wine and cheese parties Bruce likes to host with his “girlfriends.” Nothing is cemented in terms of “must haves” yet, but a production source said, “There will be a happy medium. Bruce has a great sense of humor and it will be showcased. But the show will deal with the very serious issues Bruce is committed to showing.”
