It appears Shain crashed his Ford Bronco after leaving a bar at 3am. After being missing for 31 hours, authorities recovered the vehicle submerged in about 3 feet of mud containing the bodies of Shain, his uncle and a friend, Donald Robert Myers. All three were deceased when they were found in Thaxton Hollow, a muddy, rough decline. The scene was initially uncovered by friends who then alerted authorities.
The cause of death is reportedly carbon monoxide poisoning although authorities are awaiting autopsies and refuse to speculate at this time. Reports of a gunshot wound are unfounded at this point.
Buckwild has been a source of controversy since it hit the airways. WV Senator (and former Governor) Joe Manchin fought to have the show canceled. And there were many reports that much of the show is staged. As a West Virginia native I can personally attest to this. Even worse in less than one season two of the shows stars were arrested.
Shain and his uncle, David Gandee, were last seen leaving a local bar around 3 a.m. Sunday morning, with plans to go off-roading, and were later reported missing by family. Shain and David's bodies – along with a third unidentified victim – were found inside of Shain's Ford Bronco this morning in Sissonville, West Virginia. Kanawha County Commissioner Kent Carper has confirmed the news.
I guess you're not technically an MTV reality star if you don't start getting caught for stupid stuff the second you get a taste of fame. Just ask the girls of Teen Mom…am I right? Now, the ridiculous kids of Buckwild are vying for their spot among the dumbest of the dumb.
First Salwa Amin was arrested last week for possession of drug with intent to distribute, and now her co-star Michael Burford is getting his own mugshot after being busted for DUI. Congratulations, idiot.
Well, well… it took 2 minutes in famewhore kingdom before the negative aspects of reality TV (aka ruining your life!) is striking the stars of Buckwild!
First there were allegations that the show is staged (as a West Virginian I can attest that it is!) and now Salwa Amin, the oldest of the group, has just been arrested for drug possession in WV early this morning! Oops. The "Curse of Jersey Shore" comes early, y'all!
TMZ reportsSalwa ( aka"Bengali in Boots") was arrested for "possession with intent to deliver," i.e. selling or distributing drugs. Unfortunately it's considered a felony offense in WV! She's scheduled for an arraignment this morning.
As if West Virginia didn't have enough of an issue with the kids from Buckwild, now TLC is bringing us Gypsy Sisters from the hills of Martinsburg. We first met Mellie on My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding as the stripper with a heart of gold penchant for violence. Now she's joined by her older sister Nettie, cousin Kayla, and friend Laura. Admittedly, I am fascinated with the gypsy culture.
The show follows the four women and their families, as they bling, tat, clean, tan, and engage in vicious fist fights. Ah, yes, The Learning Channel at it's finest. I am glad to see that it's keeping up with all of the other high brow reality networks. That said, I will totally be watching this madness. It's like the Bad Girls Club, but with gypsies! And just wait until you hear what Nettie's grandchildren are named. You just can't make this up, people…you. just. can't. The show premieres on TLC at 9PM ET on Sunday February 10th.

Shain Gandeeis most definitely the breakout star ofBUCKWILD. MTV describes Shain as "a trash collector … and quite possibly inebriated at any given moment, refers to himself as Gandee Candy, and every time he speaks, you need subtitles to understand him. Needless to say, he's amazing."
Yes, Shain is amazing in a tire rollin', muddin' kind of way, but apparently he's no longer a trash collector. Rumor has it that Shain lost his sanitation job well before BUCKWILD began filming last spring. According to the Charleston Daily Mail, Shain was let go in November 2011 for "violating the personnel policy."
Color me confused because Shain is seen throwing trash bags into a South Charleston trash truck on the BUCKWILD series premiere. Why the lie?
Much to Melissa Whitman's dismay. The West Virginia resident, who lives across the street from where BUCKWILD was partially taped, had a lot to say to the Charleston Gazette about the production crew, foul-mouthed cast, and staged aspects of the show.
According to Melissa, the BUCKWILD crew was obnoxious, inconsiderate, and constantly jammed her street with their black SUVs. Also, they taped (with their bright flood lights) during all hours of the day and night and several of the scenes were staged and/or reshot. Melissa added, "All of this was coaxed, coerced, scripted, or whatever."
An example of how the scenes were reshot and tweaked: "The big moving-in scene was shot two weeks after the girls were already living there."
MTV's BUCKWILD premiered Thursday night. Did you watch?
While it's safe to say SenatorJoe Manchin probably didn't host a viewing party, a decent amount of people couldn't resist the mudding, dump truck swimming, tire rolling, mattress slinging, and redneck sexy times. BUCKWILD pulled in 2.49 million viewers and a 1.4 rating over its back-to-back premieres.
BUCKWILD's Executive Producer Barry Poznicktweeted:
Comparing premieres, BUCKWILD outperformed Jersey Shore, which debuted to 1.375 million in 2009, by over one million viewers. Whether or not BUCKWILD becomes the ratings juggernaut that was Jersey Shore remains to be seen.
