Chaz Bono

Movie score night proved to be an exciting evening for Dancing With the Stars, with Cher in the audience supporting Chaz Bono and Ricki Lake and Derek Hough scoring the highest score of the season thus far (with two 10s!).

However, last night’s elimination was just as exciting for me. Why? First of all, the “celebrities” watching in the ballroom got to put in their two cents on the performances. Hello Pee-Wee Herman! Greetings Donny Osmond! Great to see you Steve Sanders Ian Ziering! And of course Courteney Cox Arquette and Kris and Bruce Jenner Kardashian have their say. It’s like the who’s who of has-beens (not you, Courteney…I hope).

Susan Boyle performed Unchained Melody “the song from Ghost” according to Brooke Burke Charvet, but I think the Everly Brothers claimed it first. Ricki Lake is the first celebrity deemed safe, followed by my man J.R. Martinez. Rob Kardashian isn’t so lucky…he’s potentially on the chopping block.

Julianne Hough also returned “home” to the DWTS stage where she got her start to perform a routine with her co-star from the movie Footloose. They are accompanied by the musical stylings of Blake Shelton singing the iconic Kenny Loggins’ song. Girlfriend is a talented dancer…let’s hope she’s half as good an actress because this DWTS is just one long advertisement for her remake.

The next three pairs are showcased. Viewers relive Chynna Phillips‘ choreography black-out, Carson Kressley’s pirate booty dance, and the routine that the judges called Chaz Bono’s best to date. Chaz and last night’s lowest scoring Carson are safe, with Chynna joining Rob in the bottom three.

The siblings Hough perform the twist together before the fate of the remaining three couples is revealed. Hope Solo and David Arquette are safe, but Nancy Grace must boogie her way to the to the bottom. The bottom three are solidified with Rob owning three more points than Chynna or Nancy.

Nancy Grace is the first saved of the the three, and Chynna Phillips, the front runner at the season’s opener, is eliminated. Rob Kardashian can breath another sigh of relief…he’ll be around for next week’s 80′s themed dancing.

DO YOU THINK CHYNNA SHOULD HAVE BEEN VOTED OFF THE SHOW? WHAT DID YOU THINK OF JULIANNE’S RETURN? WHO DO YOU THINK WILL BE THE NEXT TO GO?

Three weeks into Dancing With The Stars, the audience finally got a taste of the season’s first shocking elimination!

Despite giving a strong performance on Monday night and earning 24 points, The Hills alum Kristin Cavallari found herself in the bottom three alongside other good performers such as Hope Solo and Carson Kressley.

Safe were the lowest two scorers — Chaz Bono and Nancy Grace. Unfortunately for Kristin, 24, she was sent packing though she and partner Mark Ballas earned their highest scores of the season on Monday.

“I’m a little surprised, to be honest,” said Kristin after learning her fate. “But I’ve had such a great time and it’s been an awesome experience, so it is what it is.”

“I was really proud of Kristin,” said Mark, 25. “She had great potential and she killed it last night. I’m honored to be her partner.”

As for Chaz, he counted his lucky stars following Kristin’s elimination as he posted the following on his twitter page: “I wish I could thank each & every one of you personally for your votes. You are the reason Lacey Schwimmer and I ARE DANCING AGAIN next week!!”

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON KRISTIN’S ELIMINATION? SHOULD CHAZ HAVE BEEN VOTED OFF INSTEAD?

This week’s Dancing With The Stars leaderboard looks a lot similar to last week’s as for the second week in a row Ricki Lake leads the scoreboard while Chaz Bono is at the bottom yet again.

Ricki won over both the judges and fans with her spectacular rumba which represented the hardship she has experienced in the last year including a divorce and her house burning down. Her dance was far from disastrous giving her and partner Derek Hough the night’s top score of 27.

Tied for second place were both Chynna Phillips and J.R. Martinez, each scoring 26. War veteran J.R. had the ballroom in tears when he opened up about his war vehicle hitting a land mine when he was just 19 years old, disfiguring his face and more than 40 percent of his body. He dedicated his dance to the men and women serving our country. J.R. went on to receive a standing ovation for his rumba dance with partner Karina Smirnoff!

Coming in last place was Chaz Bono who struggled yet again. Quite frankly, Chaz failed to impress with his rumba receiving a low score of 18. Despite the score, judge Len Goodman called the rumba Chaz’s best dance yet while Carrie Ann Inaba added, “Just showing up here takes incredible amounts of courage.” It will be interesting to see if Chaz will be sent packing tomorrow night or if the fans will continue to save him!

Below are the full scores from last night -

Ricki Lake & Derek Hough: 27
J.R. Martinez & Karina Smirnoff: 26

Nancy Grace & Tristan MacManus: 21

Tonight, another contestant will be dismissed from the show. The judges’ scores will be combined with viewer votes to determine who goes home.

Could Dancing With The Stars pro Derek Hough be gearing up for yet another win this year?

It’s a definite possibility with his celeb partner Ricki Lake! Just two weeks into the new season, Ricki, who has lost over 12 inches from her waist since rehearsals started, led the leader-board with the high score of 23! Ricki received praises from the judges for her energetic jive. Carrie Ann Inaba called it the best dance of the night while Len Goodman called it “an improvement from last week.”

Tying for second place were J.R. Martinez and Kristin Cavallari, each with a score of 22! JR’s score for his high energy jive ties his score from last week. The Hills’ alum Kristin shined with her quickstep despite receiving some criticism from Len. “It was not as good as you look,” he told Kristin.

Also showing improvement this week was Rob Kardashian! Following his jive performance, Carrie Ann called him the best dancer!… in the Kardashian family. “It’s official: Rob Kardashian is a better dancer than Kim Kardashian,” said Carrie Ann. “No offense to Kim, [but] you have the dancing gene, honey.”

Despite suffering a nip slip/wardrobe malfunction, Nancy Grace showed vast improvement in her dancing! After landing in the bottom two last week, the 51-year-old news anchor came back strong, earning a score of 21 for her quickstep.

Chaz Bono didn’t fare so well as he ended up in the bottom of the pack after receiving praises from the judges last week. With a score of 17 points for a quickstep routine that judges deemed too slow, Chaz finds himself in last place. “I’ve moved faster through the car wash,” said Len.

TELL US – IS IT CHAZ’S TIME TO GO? WHO SHOULD BE SENT PACKING?

The widely anticipated 13th season of Dancing With The Stars premiered last night, and it did not disappoint!

There were some surprises and a few let downs when it came to this new group of 12 celebrities. We’ll start off with the show’s most controversial contestant ever Chaz Bono, who has been receiving some backlash due to the fact that he is transgendered.

So how did Chaz, 42, measure up? Not too shabby. Chaz alongside his partner Lacey Schwimmer, gave a pretty memorable first performance which garnered him 17 points for his cheeky and fun cha cha. “Chazzy Boy, you can dance!” said judge Carrie Ann Inaba. Bruno Tonioli added, “So cuddly and cute. Great, great debut, Chaz. You should be proud.”

The best performers of the night were Chynna Phillips, and war veteran turned soap star J.R. Martinez. Chynna sizzled with her graceful waltz, earning her the highest score of the night – 22 points. “You looked like you stepped out of a dream and into my heart,” said Bruno. J.R. tied with Chynna for the high score with his impressive Viennese waltz.

In the middle of the pack were reality stars Kristin Cavallari and Rob Kardashian. Kristin fared a bit better than Rob, receiving a decent score of 19 points for her feisty cha-cha with partner Mark Ballas. Kristin definitely showed some promise with her fiery stage presence! With his famous sisters in the audience cheering him on, Rob failed to impress as he received a score of 16 for his waltz with Cheryl Burke. “I’m not impressed, but I’m not depressed,” said judge Len Goodman.

This season’s Kate Gosselin Nancy Grace also had a so-so debut as the 51-year-old news anchor received 16 points for her sassy cha-cha with newcomer Tristan MacManus. “You got the moves, but you don’t seem to believe in yourself,” said Len.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON DWTS’ SEASON PREMIERE? WHO ARE YOU FAVS AND LEAST FAVS?

Ready or not, an all new season of Dancing With The Stars premieres tonight on ABC!

Season 13 of the hit show will feature 12 “celebrities” including Rob Kardashian, Ricki Lake, David Arquette, Nancy Grace, Kristin Cavallari, Carson Kressley and many others!

The new season has however not been without controversy as immediately following ABC’s reveal of the cast back in August, some fans of the show were outraged over the casting of Chaz Bono aka the first transgendered contestant in the show’s history. In fact Chaz’s uber famous mother Cher had to publicly defend him.

Chaz, 42, is now speaking out today on the backlash he received from some. “I feel like if people who are on the fence just watch the show, I think they’re going to feel comfortable with me pretty soon,” said Chaz to the AP. “I’m a really kind of regular guy. I think I’m a pretty nice guy. My heart is in the right place and I think if people just watch, they’ll see that.”

Chaz goes on to add that he’s more worried about his dancing skills today than any backlash. “It’s completely different because I’ve never done this before,” he said. “I can sit down and talk to Oprah about myself or subjects that I’m really comfortable with and that I really know and have information to put across, but I’m not a dancer. All I know about dancing is what I’ve learned in less than (three) weeks!”

And while we won’t know for certain the dancing capabilities of this new group of contestants until tonight, odd makers have already started making bets as to who will win the mirror ball trophy this season.

The favorite to win it all? None other than US soccer player Hope Solo, who is partnered with hotness Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Other contestants expected to fare well this season include Elisabetta Canalis, Kristin Cavallari, and Carson Kressley.

Dancing With The Stars season 13 debuts tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON CHAZ’S COMMENTS? WHO ARE YOU PREDICTING TO WIN IT ALL?

The official cast photos of Dancing With The Stars season 13 have now been released!

Above is the first glimpse of Chaz Bono, the first transgendered contestant on the show, in his dancing costume alongside partner Lacey Schwimmer. As we reported, the casting of Chaz, 42, has proven to be a rather controversial one for ABC with some fans voicing their disapproval.

Below are more photos of the remaining “stars” which includes David Arquette, Nancy Grace, Kristin Cavallari, Carson Kressley and their dancing partners!

In other DWTS news, TMZ is reporting today that Rob Kardashian has been slacking off when it comes to practicing his dance moves. Rob’s partner Cheryl Burke is reportedly “fed up” with him as he refuses to practice for more than 2 hours with her. Other contestants are putting in over 5 hours a day.

Cheryl now feels this shows Rob’s lack of interest in doing the show. And while he’s busy not practicing, Rob is reportedly bragging to his older sister Kimmie Kardashian that he will top her DWTS performance by making it past week 3. Good luck with that one Robbie!

Days after ABC announced Chaz Bono as a contestant on this season of Dancing With The Stars, he continues to be on the receiving end of some major backlash by some fans of the show.

It appears ABC’s decision to put Chaz, the first transgendered conestant in the show’s history, on the show is drawing attacks from some people on the ABC message boards. An example of one of the comments posted includes: “This show has completely lost a viewer(s). I am DISGUSTED that you would have Chaz Bono on there. He/she can live however he/she would like to live, but do we need to flaunt it for ratings? Really? I hope your ratings sink as low as you have sunk in having Chaz on there.”

Chaz’s uber famous mom Cher is now speaking out to defend her son. “Chaz is Being Viciously Attacked on Blogs & Message boards about being on DWTS! This is Still America right? It took guts 2 do it,” Cher tweeted about Chaz, who legally changed his gender and name last year. “I support him no matter what he chooses 2do! God! will there always be haters! It took COURAGE 2 do dwts! TG Chaz has an Unlimited supply,” added Cher who also referred to the critics as “Bigots.”

Chaz, 42, showed his appreciation to his mom when he tweeted, “Thanks for all your support mom. The haters are just motivating me to work harder and stay on DWTS as long as I possibly can.”

Also coming to Chaz’s defense is his DWTS pro partner Lacey Schwimmer. “It’s disappointing,” said Lacey to The Insider of the negative reactions to Chaz and the cruel jokes made at his expense on late night TV. “No human is perfect, so why are they pointing out what they perceive to be an imperfection in someone else? It’s not cool. We’re all taught to not bully, or harass, and treat everyone as equals yet all these people are doing exactly the opposite,” added Lacey.

In a separate interview, Lacey makes it clear that Chaz is all man. “The fact of the matter is, he’s a full man, in every shape or form,” she said of her partner. “Everybody should just get over it and accept him and accept him as a human being … he’s so brave and its really good to be a part of it with him!”

In other DWTS news, the Huffington Post is reporting the show wants absolutely nothing to do with Bravo housewives! If you recall, Teresa Giudice has spent the last year trying to get on the show to no avail.

“They have no interest in having any of the ladies on the show,” reveals a DWTS insider. “Season after season the housewives pitch themselves to grace the dance floor and season after season the show says thanks but no thanks.” In fact a spokesperson for Bravo confirms none of the housewives have ever been asked by ABC to do the show including the very popular Bethenny Frankel.

“They never made Bethenny an offer,” a friend of Bethenny’s reveals. “She went to the show with a friend of [host] Tom Bergeron’s who was kind enough to get his pal-plus-one two front row seats next to the head of ABC. But even that couldn’t get her on the show.” But Rob Kardashian is a-okay?
