It seems the self proclaimed Susan Lucci of reality television will not be disappearing anytime soon, much to the dismay of many.
The HollywoodLife is reporting today that Danielle Staub, former star of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, has signed a deal with VH1 to film a pilot for her upcoming spin-off reality show. You know, the one that will be focusing on her personal life, career, family etc.
The way it usually works is if VH1 likes the pilot of her spin-off show, they will then pick it up for a full season.
“VH1 has picked up her show and they are almost done with negotiations,” a “source” tells HollywoodLife. “They haven’t started filming yet, but they will soon!”
In other Danielle news, she has now released her new music video for her song “Cry.” The video, posted below, is apparently meant to bring attention to domestic violence. Enjoy -
First up is a funny blurb in the NY Post this week which basically refers to Danielle Staub as a desperate famewhore. The title of the story? ‘Danielle Staub eager for a celebrity photo op.’
According to the Post, Danielle attended a recent celebrity event during which she was very desperate to be in photos with Jerry Seinfeld. Danielle reportedly lingered on the red carpet for a half-hour. “Her assistant kept running back and forth to see if there were celebrities to take a picture with,” said a witness. Though the former prostitution whore wasn’t able to get a photo with Seinfeld, she did luck out, snagging one with Ben Stiller.
Speaking of Danielle, she also gave a recent interview to Popeater, during which she referred to herself as “the Susan Lucci of reality television.” Yes – she went there.
And when it comes to her reported solo reality show, she claims it has been picked up by a network and promises to announce that lucky network soon. “It’s gonna be all about me, my family and the real Danielle Staub that my fans and loved ones have been dying to see.” Something tells us Kelly Bensimon’s kids aren’t the only ones embarrassed by their mother.
In other NJ news, RadarOnline is reporting that Teresa Giudice, who might or might not be going to prison within the next year, has signed on to teach a seminar during which she “will tell you how to have it all.”
For $44.95, you too can learn a thing or two from Teresa on January 10, 2011 at the Learning Annex in NY. The press release boasts: ““Whether you want to get on a reality TV show, write a book, start and run a business, change careers, this inspiring evening with a woman who has 377,000 online followers will get you going in the right direction.”
Let’s just hope she won’t be dishing out any advice on how to manage your money.
The latest is a new report by RadarOnline, which details Caroline’s recent testimony against Danielle in a Federal defamation lawsuit filed against Danielle by her ex-husband, Kevin Maher. Kevin is accusing Danielle of defaming him in media outlets and in her memoir, The Naked Truth.
In her testimony, Caroline, who was called to testify on behalf of Kevin, recalled the many tales Danielle told her about him. “She depicted him as a monster,” said Caroline during the July 22 deposition. “She depicted him as someone who would beat her daily, as someone that put her in the hospital due to the beatings, I want to say on more than one occasion.”
Caroline continued, “She claimed to have been hiding in a tree at some point, afraid that when he came home he would find her and beat her. She claimed to be the victim of prostitution due to his demands, that he put her into that world, again depicting him as an absolute monster. And the only reason she stayed with him, because she feared for her life if she left.”
According to Radar, Danielle has filed a motion with the court to have the case dismissed. An hearing for that has been set for September 27.
In other news, Danielle continues to talk to any media outlet willing to listen. The latest is her claims that she has not one, but two spin-off shows in the works! Danielle is claiming one of the shows will be a reality show based on her life a la Bethenny Getting Married, while the other will have her hosting a show a la Jerry Springer.
Danielle, pictured above on Friday snagging freebies at a MTV VMA retreat (feel free to check out the items in the photo background), told RadarOnline her reality show will be better than that of Bethenny Frankel. “It’s going to be better because it’s actually going to keep people awake and on the edge of their seats,” Danielle told Radar. “They’re going to want to see what I’m doing, where I’m going, who I’m wearing, what I’m wearing, who I’m chewing up and spitting out, maybe who I’m dating, maybe who I’m not, what is going on in my real life … and the one thing people say, love me or hate me, I keep it real and you’re paying attention.”
Danielle also shares she will be revealing her sexual orientation on her show. As for her other show, Danielle says she will be hosting it. “It’s going to be over the top and definitely something that I think people are going to be quite surprised that I’m going to be able to do and who I’m replacing.”
And while we continue to remain suspicious about Danielle’s “two shows,” HollywoodLife is reporting today that Danielle had a camera crew in tow during an OK magazine event last night. Danielle revealed to the site that one of her shows will be titled Social and will air on the WealthTV network. And no, we’ve never heard of the WealthTV network either, just in case you’re wondering.
“I’m replacing Robin Leach basically, of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, but with a twist,” she says. “There will be more socializing with the rich and famous celebrities and we’ll show how they give back as well.” Danielle says she will tape the first episode this Thursday — and will tape for 26 straight weeks. “Each week I’ll have a different celebrity or billionaire,” she says adding, “I’ll be filming anywhere from New Jersey all the way to India. We have a lot of celebrities lined up but I can’t tell you their names yet. Lori Michaels [her rumored girlfriend] will be a part of this too.”
Danielle confirmed to HollyWoodLife that her kids will appear on both shows. Poor kids.
TELL US – LOVE HER OR HATE HER, WOULD YOU WATCH A DANIELLE SPIN-OFF SHOW?
The magazine doesn’t give a reason for the firing as an insider tells the mag, “Danielle was told that she would not be returning for a third season.” Adding that Danielle finding out she was fired “came as a complete shock, and she thought she was definitely going to return to the successful Bravo series.”
This might be the reason Danielle mentioned she was working on a reality show for herself a week ago. The timing of this also makes sense as the 3rd season of the NJ Housewives will likely start filming any day now.
Bravo did not have a comment for this news, telling Life&Style, “Bravo does not comment on casting of upcoming seasons of Housewives while current seasons are still airing.” Danielle’s booking agent also had “no comment” on Danielle’s status on the show though Danielle was likely the one who leaked this story.
Could this have to do with the lawsuit Danielle planned against her castmates? Or the threats from her co-stars that they would not return if Danielle did? Perhaps something happened during the reunion taping. We will be bringing you more updates as soon as they become available. (Thanks to our reader I’mJustSaying for this link).
UPDATE – Wanted to add that Life&Style has always proven to be a very reputable source when it comes to Housewives news.
UPDATE #2 – HollywoodLife is now reporting that a source close to Danielle says the firing report is just a rumor. “Danielle has no clue if she’s signed on for season three, none of the girls do,” says the source, adding that “there aren’t any firm negotiations going on until mid-September.” Based on track records, I am more inclined to believe the Life&Style story.
UPDATE #3 – Danielle is speaking out on the firing rumors in a statement posted on her twitter page. She doesn’t confirm or deny the firing, only giving out a cryptic message.
“Actually, I’m not even thinking about season 3 right now as I am considering many incredible options that have been presented to me,” said Staub. “Right now I just want to let fans know that we have a fantastic finale coming up next week and explosive reunion shows on August 30 and September 6. Don’t worry next year, I’ll still be the one you either love to hate or hate to love.”
And the plot thickens…
UPDATE #4 - PEOPLE magazine, arguable the most reputable entertainment outlet around, says they have learned Danielle “is likely leaving the show after the end of Season 2 and is not expected to participate in a third season.”
UPDATE #5 – RadarOnline is also giving details of Danielle’s proposed spin off show which a source tells them is being produced by Sirens Media, the same company behind the Real Housewives of NJ.
“A spin off is in the works,” a source told Radar. The deal is still in talks while a source says it will “loosely reflect the character she started on the Real Housewives and the future of her career, her high-profile life, her kids, her being a ‘mom-ager.’ But she also has a normal life with her assistant and the whole team surrounding her.”
So it seems Bravo might be firing Danielle to make way for a spin off show for her a la Bethenny Frankel.
