The Real Housewives of New York City Recap, Emotional Highs

So last night’s episode of Real Housewives of NYC was rather intense. Almost to the point of draining, I can only imagine how the women involved felt, if I as a viewer, felt somewhat drained after watching. Overall, it as a very good episode.

So in doing this recap, I will just go down the list and talk about each housewife. It’s a long recap so I’ll get right to it.

Ramona - We’ll start off with Ramona. This woman makes it really difficult to like her. I decided last night that I have a like/dislike relationship with her as a viewer. One minute you can’t believe her outrageous behavior (her comments to Bethenny during their walk), and then the next minute she apologizes and then says something insightful( calling Jill out on being a hypocrite for planning the Kelly and Bethenny talk/”ambush” last season). It’s definitely a Ramonacoaster. At the end of the day, it’s somewhat starting to get old. I mean, what is really wrong with this woman? She lacks tact and is in dire need of a filter. You learn around the age of 10 that you can’t just blurt out everything you think, so I’m not exactly sure why Ramona, at age 54, hasn’t mastered that art quite yet. I mean does she have some sort of chemical imbalance or something? Sighs, her words to Bethenny last night were really mean and uncalled for. Her attack of Kelly weeks ago about her boob job was really mean and uncalled for as well. Ramona is going to have to learn someday that just because you apologize for something doesn’t make it okay. The whole I have diarrhea of the mouth thing is getting old. I think it’s time she take some Pepto-Bismol and learn to keep her mouth shut. She says these things, apologizes, and then does it again the next day….

Jill – On to Jill, the new villain of the season. I remember Bethenny’s appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens talk show after the premiere of the first episode this season. Andy asked her if she had any remorse about the end of her friendship with Jill, Bethenny said she had absolutely no regrets. At the time, I thought that was mean and cold of Bethenny. After watching the last few episodes, I must say I fully understand why she felt that way. I agree with Alex, Jill likes to keep score, and is definitely very unforgiving. I really liked Jill the first season of the show, and didn’t start to not like her until last season, especially after what I thought was very mean behavior from her during last year’s reunion show. What I’ve noticed about Jill is her NEED to always dig at others, and put them down. It’s like she needs to bring others down, and always make sure they are never on the same level as she is. For example, she seemed to take some perverse pleasure in letting Kelly know her playboy issue was not for the 40th anniversary, and ofcourse letting Alex know just how “awful” her kids are.

Plus I’m not sure I’m buying her tears from last night, it seemed a bit forced. She was so cold to Bethenny last night, and I’m sure Bethenny has done and said some hurtful things to Jill, but I highly doubt Jill is completely innocent. I honestly think her vindictiveness, and the fact that she was so hell bent on “destroying” Bethenny was why she was so unwilling to forgive. Jill is simply not a nice person to sum this up. It’s quite ironic that she’s mentioned several times this season that she is “scared” of Bethenny. Which is interesting coming from someone who has tried to rally everyone on her side, making sure that even in Bethenny’s deepest darkest hour, she will be left standing alone, with no friend and no “troops.” No Jill, Bethenny is the one who should be scared of YOU and your juvenile behavior. You are a mean spirited, jealous and a very vindictive person.

Kelly – Oh Kelly Kelly Kelly… I think Ramona’s comment on next week’s episode kinda sums this up, “I can’t talk to you, you have no brain.” A bit mean for Ramona to say, but honestly I don’t understand this girl, or oops I mean woman. She is 41 years old after all, even though she acts like 12. I’m just confused, I mean is she a moron? brain dead? I’m literally scratching my head as I type this. The things she says, the way she acts, added to the things other people say that just always seems to completely go over her head. I don’t get her and find her exhausting and really weird. For someone who claims to have a degree from the prestigious Columbia, I find her quite moronic. And yes Bethenny was really awful to her in the press last year, but to completely blame Bethenny for damaging her reputation is something I will have to disagree with. Her behavior and bizzaro actions on the show is what damaged her rep. I will add that Kelly’s saving grace is the fact she doesn’t seem to be a mean or vicious person.

Preview The Real Housewives of New York City Plus Bravo Asking Housewives For Drama?

There seems to be a recurring theme with this season’s the Real Housewives of New York City, every episode seems to bring us some new Jill vs. Bethenny drama, and tonight will be no different.

First, we will see Kelly awkwardly attempt to photograph random people on the streets of NYC that she deems fashionable for an article she’s writing for Gotham Magazine. On the other side of town, LuAnn remains close with Jill, who is quickly becoming this season’s villain, when she stays as a house guest at Jill’s house. The hot topic of discussion is Bethenny and Kelly’s new-found truce.

Bethenny learns that her father, who is now deceased, is very sick, leading Alex to pull out all the stops to make Jill aware and help repair their fractured friendship. Bethenny then makes a desperate last ditch attempt to talk to Jill face-to-face, which will ofcourse lead to another blow up. A video preview is below.

In other NYC news, The DailyBeast did a new interview with Jill Zarin, during which she made a rather interesting comment about Bravo wanting the housewives to create some drama, or else risk leaving the show. “We were told, in no uncertain terms—and I wouldn’t say it’s affected me, but it’s affected some of the other girls—that if they didn’t bring it on, they wouldn’t be holding an apple,” said Jill, referring to the promo shot that shows each Housewife holding an apple. “There was a lot of pressure to bring on drama—this coming off New Jersey and Atlanta.” Jill however made it clear no part of the show is scripted.

Andy Cohen, Bravo’s senior vice president of original programming, responded to Jill’s comments with the following, “We cast outgoing people who we know are going to be fun to watch. We never tell people what to do or say—we just want people to be themselves. The women who ‘hold the apple’ are all outgoing, driven women, which is why they are on the show in the first place. All the drama you see is real and completely brought on by their own personal interactions with each other—you can’t make this stuff up!”

Jill might have a point. After all, DeShawn Snow was fired from the Real Housewives of Atlanta for not being dramatic enough. Interestingly though, Jill’s comments bear a striking similarity to what a show “source” revealed to the NYDailyNews back in February about Alex and Simon. The article claimed Alex and Simon would be getting the axe from the show next season because they were boring. The source also claimed, “In the upcoming season, Alex picks a lot of fights, and it looks like it’s an attempt to keep her story line relevant,” the insider says. “But it ended up seeming inauthentic.”

The NYDailyNews is the same publication that published the Bethenny friendless story that Bethenny accused Jill of planting in the last episode . Simon also blogged last week that he suspected Jill was behind he and Alex’s story. He might have a point…

NeNe Returning To Atlanta Housewives Plus Victoria Rowell To Join The Cast?

NeNe Leakes is squashing any rumors of her being cut from Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Rumors of NeNe and her frienemy Kim Zolciak have been circulating ever since unnamed sources told the New York Daily News that Bravo might drop them since they have become more demanding. In an interview with Sister 2 Sister, NeNe sets the record straight.

“This is all I can tell you—and I don’t want to talk about: Every housewife has been invited back,” NeNe revealed to S2S exclusively.

However, NeNe reveals that she has received some offers and has other options. In addition, her terms of agreement with Bravo is clear. If Bravo drops her from the show, she is free to pursue her other options but if she quits then she is out of luck until her contract expires. As far as contracts are concerned, all the housewives including DeShawn Snow signed up for several years at a time.

“They try to lock you in for a number of years,” she explained to S2S. “We all signed up for a third season when we signed on from day one. If anybody has been fired, nobody knows anything about it. We know nothing about it. I don’t know where the rumor came from.”

According to Daytime Confidential, the buzz around town is Bravo will be adding another housewife and the speculation is that former soap opera diva Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla Barber-Winters on The Young and the Restless) will join the cast. While this seemed like a crazy rumor, Victoria surprisingly doesn’t deny it! She gave the following statement when asked -

“In my career as an entertainer I get solicited to do quite a number of things,” Rowell began coyly with a giggle, “whether it be to write reviews for a fellow author’s book, or participate in reality programming. The question has been posed from time to time about me joining the Housewives franchise, whether it be in Atlanta or somewhere else. As you know, I now spend a lot time in Atlanta. I know the fans would love to see me on television again, whether it be on a soap opera or as a real housewife of Atlanta. So, you know, we’ll see. I always say, never say never!”

Not sure if Victoria has seen the show or not, but she might want to consider running far far away from this very entertaining trainwreck of a show.

Sheree Whitfield Leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta?

According to the Rumor mill, Sheree Whitfield might be the latest housewife to get the DeShawn Snow treatment boot from the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

A new report has sources close to the series revealing that Sheree might be getting the boot because she has become too boring and drama free. Really? Even more boring than Lisa Wu Hartwell?

According to the source, one of the housewives has to go to make room for new blood next season. Kandi Burruss was allegedly going to be the booted housewife until she surprised the producers by becoming the series favorite, which isn’t seating too well with former favorite Nene Leakes.

The source also claims Sheree is biting the hand that feeds her by refusing to stir up drama on the show this season because she wants to be taken seriously as a fashion designer. Umm didn’t Sheree stir up some major wig yanking drama early on?

Not sure how accurate this story is. I suspect Lisa will be the housewife to go if they decide to get rid of someone. She’s been very boring to watch this season, and has been the most drama free which is a major no-no for being a Bravo housewife.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 2 Preview

The 2nd season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta does not premier until July 30 at 10 p.m on Bravo. AccessAtlanta was however able to preview the 1st episode of the second season.

Below are some of their teasers on what is to come this season -

Kandi Burruss – DeShawn Snow’s replacement is identified as a friend of Lisa Wu Hartwell. Kandi, who is working on a solo album in her home studio, has a six year old daughter and a fiance — with six kids. It’s too soon to say how her arrival will change the dynamics among the other four, but the producers obviously hope she engages them more than DeShawn did.

Kim Zolciak – during this episode says she’s single and no longer with Big Poppa (the still unnamed married man Lee Najjar.) She again seeks advice from her psychic.

Lisa Wu Hartwell – The 38 year old mother of three is thinking about a fourth. Tension remains between her and Kim over the reunion episode where Lisa accused Kim of spreading false rumors about her e.g. she lost custody of her kids with hubby No. 1 Keith Sweat because she took drugs.

Sheree Whitfield – clashes with a party planner for her “post divorce “independence party.” It’s certainly a highlight of hour one. “Whatever happened to customer service?” Sheree said. She also talks about being booted from her $2 million home that her ex husband Bob stopped paying for and had to move into a more modest home.

NeNe Leakes – is also in a new (presumably rental) home and there are some amusing scenes between her and gay hairdresser buddy Dwight Eubanks. She and Kim are still estranged after NeNe last year mocked Kim’s country music ambitions behind her back, but both are making attempts to reconcile.

The Real Housewives Of Atlanta Return July 30th!

The original Queens of drama are back! Bravo has announced today that the 2nd season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta will be returning July 30th, at 10 PM ET/PT.

As you can see from the above photo, 1st season housewife, DeShawn Snow will not be returning. She was allegedly asked not to come back for being “too boring.” Kandi Buruss, a songwriter and former member of the R & B group Xscape will be the newest housewife joining the group. The other returning cast members include Kim Zolciak, Sheree Whitfield, Nene Leakes, and Lisa Wu Hartwell.

I am looking forward to the 2nd season, but a bit nervous that it might be a let down. The drama of the 1st season was at an all time high, it seems almost impossible to top that. Will the 2nd season be as successful as the first? We shall see. Below is more information about what is to come this season -

“Kandi Burruss - Jumping into the mix as the newest housewife with help from friend Lisa, Kandi wastes no time acclimating herself to the group. Recently engaged to fianc AJ, she balances being a mom and planning her dream wedding, with launching a solo career and working on a new album.

Kim Zolciak – Kim continues to live life out loud. After a somewhat rocky breakup with mysterious boyfriend “Big Poppa,” she vows to enjoy life as a single woman, but her roller coaster relationship with him keeps her love life somewhat complicated. Always on the go, she continues to focus on the daunting task of launching her country music career, with help from new housewife and music artist Kandi, and also decides to create her own line of wigs. Drama rears its ugly head as her somewhat tumultuous relationships with the other housewives continue to evolve.

Lisa Wu Hartwell – Living a fast-paced life as a mother of three, Lisa’s never-ending energy keeps her on the move. With her real estate business slowing because of the economy, her entrepreneurial spirit kicks in and she decides to launch a clothing line, “Closet Freak.” To her surprise, she finds her biological clock is ticking, and debates expanding her family by having another baby, but Ed’s NFL career might throw a wrench in the plans. Lisa is thrown into the midst of all the drama between the other housewives as old rumors resurface.

NeNe Leakes – NeNe continues to take the world by storm. Busy on the charity circuit preparing for her second annual event for women against domestic violence, she is also dealing with the emotional search for her biological father while taking care of her family. NeNe wrote a book on her life experiences that will be out later this year, in hopes that she can give advice to young women who face difficult issues like she did growing up. While her no-nonsense, tell it like it is approach sometimes gets her in trouble, she continues to explore her ever-evolving friendships with the other housewives, with some dramatic results.

Sheree Whitfield – Coming off a much-publicized divorce, Sheree is ready to put the past behind her and focus on being a single mom and entrepreneur. To celebrate her new life, she delves into her work, with her “She by Sheree” fashion line moving along nicely and preparations underway for a major fashion show to debut the line. With encouragement from her friends, Sheree debates jumping back into the dating game, and her relationships with some of the other housewives take a surprising turn.”
