So, it seems that the silent, bearded type is star struck by the tiny rapping type. Do I smell a collaboration? Duck Dynasty'sJep Robertson has certainly become more vocal this season, and he recently shared his favorite celebrity sighting…Yeezy himself.
While appearing with his brothers and Uncle Si on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Jep ran into Kanye Westbackstage before heading over to catch a runway show during New York Fashion Week. Of course, it wasn't just any show…it starred Willie'sdaughter Sadie Robertson!
Sunday and Monday night viewer ratings are in! And unsurprisingly the holiday weekend put a little damper on reality TV guilty pleasures – especially if you happened to be doing a little equine therapy on Real Housewives of New Jersey.
The former ratings powerhouse for Bravo again took a hit with only 1.8 million viewers bothering to tune in – that's down majorly from last week! Listen – we have enough of our own family problems to continually focus on the Gorgadices! Keeping Up With The Kardashians continued to hold strong, although it took a slight hit dropping to 2.3 million viewers this week.
It's been a whole week since I got to spend quality time with Phil, Willie, Jase, Uncle Si, and the rest of the Robertson crew. Sure, I've had my reruns, but I so look forward to Wednesday nights now thanks to Duck Dynasty. Last night was no different. Whether the warehouse boys were convincing Si to pay out his last dollar over a gentlemen's bet or Jase wearing out his welcome at Willie's house, the episode went by too quickly. Sidebar, I love howJep is always referred to as "Willie's Other Brother."
Jase and Missy are renovating their kitchen, so Jase and the kids will be bunking with Willie and Korie. Thankfully, Missy is out of town, so she'll have to miss whatever debacle will surely ensue this weekend. Meanwhile, after a heated race between two toy woodpeckers, Godwin, Martin, Jep, and Si are betting on who can knock down red solo cup pyramids, and Si is doing his best to hustle the warehouse crew. Jep can't believe that Si and his father are related…after all, Phil was almost a quarterback in the NFL, and Si couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
As y'all know, I love Duck Dynasty. In a reality world with name-calling, back-stabbing, hair-pulling, and bed-hopping, I find the Robertsons to be a refreshing change of pace! (Don't get me wrong, I like some drama, too!) Uncle Si has been the breakout star of the A&E hit. While he's been everything from a fashion model to an air traffic controller, yesterday Si added author to his list of accomplishments. His book Si-cology 1: Tales and Wisdom from Duck Dynasty's Favorite Uncle hit the shelves yesterday.
Si's stories span from days of playing hooky with his brothers to earning good grades in college despite having a hard time making it to class. He discusses his time in the military, how he met his wife, and the blessing of his two children and eight grandchildren.
In an interview with the Christian Post, Si talks about why he chose to pen the tome, as well as the strong faith he shares with his family. Initially, he didn't want to write a book, fearing that he didn't have enough family memories to share with his fans due to his twenty-five years serving in the armed forces. He says, "I was in the military, so I told my wife that I was never there for the kids when they were growing up. And she said, 'oh yeah you were. Let me go get a photo album.' And she was showing me dressed as a bunny rabbit, rooster, and Santa Claus during Christmas time. Personally, I didn't feel that I was there enough."
However, in true Si fashion, he ended up going for it, lamenting, "They just kept bothering me, so I said, OK."
I think things are really going to be great this season of Duck Dynasty. It's fun, light-hearted and not too scripted! I love seeing the Robertsons get together, and I think it's hilarious the way Phil interacts with his grandchildren.
Jase is installing a new dock with his brothers and friends as Si gives orders from the edge of the water. Si is great at supervision, but he's reminded that he, of all people, does not have super vision. I think we can all attest to that having seen his coke bottle glasses.
At the warehouse, Si is regaling the warehouse crew with stories of his football days. Jasehas Si's football formula memorized. First, there is a grand exaggeration followed by Si's remarkable strategy. After awhile, the actual story of the game begins, but it's riddled with commercial breaks for Epsom salt, sweet tea, and more ridiculously exaggerated stories.
Last night's Duck Dynasty got back to the roots of why I love this show so much. It wasn't super scripted, but it was hilarious, wholesome, and fun to watch. The episode followed Willie, Jase, and Si as they gave Martin a good-natured ribbing over a member of the opposite sex, and Phil was able to spend some quality time (even if he didn't ask for it) with some of his adorable grandchildren.
The Robertson boys are fishing, but Si's singing seems to be scaring off all potential catches. As Phil so eloquently puts it, "If fish were vampires, Si would be garlic, daylight, and a stake through the heart simultaneously."
The men plan for a poker night, but Martin bows out quietly. He's got a date! I'm kind of excited to learn this news because it means that Martin is still on the market. Call me maybe! Willie jokes that he's known Martin for ten years and he's been on one date…if Willie is being generous. Jase inquires as to whether Martin found this girl in a mail-order bride catalog.
With more than 11 million viewers tuning in to watch Duck Dynasty this week, it's no shock that the show has spawned a few hardcore superfans! We're talking fans who are so dedicated that they plan their wedding around Willie Robertson's appearance at the brand new Field & Stream store in Pennsylvania! Superfans who also named their five month old baby Jase! Take that, Twilight fans! Edward and Bella are out as baby names in 2013 and Jase, Si and Phil are on the rise!
Field & Stream celebrate the grand opening of its first store in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania last weekend. A mom let the company know that her daughter Mehgan Cook, a bride-to-be, and her fiance Charlie Miller (both avid outdoorsmen) were so devastated about the possibility of missing out on the store's opening and Willie Robertson's appearance at said opening, that they wanted to get married IN the store.
