DWTS Season 12

Following a patriotic-themed night on Monday’s Dancing With the Stars show, Kendra Wilkinson, Ralph Macchio and Petra Nemcova found themselves in a three-way tie at the bottom of the scoreboard, as they each scored a 22.

While some predicted Kendra would be the one sent packing, that fate was ultimately suffered by 31-year-old supermodel Petra and her partner Dmitry Chaplin for their quickstep. Petra’s elimination seemed to stun the judges, who gave her a standing ovation. “Petra’s been fantastic,” said judge Len Goodman after Petra landed in the bottom two. “Two weeks ago, she was [on] top of the leaderboard. It’s madness!”

“It’s been a life changing journey for me,” Petra said. “So many people got inspired because of Dancing With the Stars that I started to do dance-a-thons at schools to fundraise for [my charity] and change the lives of so many children around the world.”

Petra also spoke highly of her partner Dmitry. “He’s been an incredible friend, like a big brother to me,” she said.

Meanwhile, it was announced yesterday that recently-ousted American Idol contestant Pia Toscano will perform on the show next Tuesday for her new beau Mark Ballas! Yes Pia will perform while Mark dances to her song. Following their first date 2 weeks ago, the two have been seen spending more time together.

And as for that New York Post report that stated Pia didn’t bother breaking up with Carlos Nunez, her boyfriend of four years, before she went on a date with Mark, sources tell TMZ it is false. The source adds that Pia and Carlos had been broken up for two months before she came to Hollywood in March.

It was “America night” on Dancing With The Starsweek 5 with some front runners starting to emerge!

Leading that pack is NFL player Hines Ward who earned the highest score of the night, a 27, for his smooth rumba set to “Proud to be an American.” Judge Len Goodman told Hines his rumba was his “best dance so far,” while Bruno Tonioli complimented him on producing “just the right amount of sensuality to make the ladies swoon. ” Hine’s score of 27 is the highest of the season so far.

And in what is emerging as one of the strongest seasons to date, three different stars tied for second place, each receiving a score of 26. Chelsea Kane, who led the leaderboard last week, received praises for her upbeat samba dance. “You have the energy of America but the sizzle of Brazil,” said Bruno. Romeo continued to show growth with his fox-trot and wrestler Chris Jericho impressed with his Viennese waltz. “I feel like we’ve underestimated you,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba told Chris.

Kirstie Alley remains in the middle of the pack with her score of 23 for her foxy foxtrot to “American Woman.” Luckily for Kirstie, the performance went off without any mishaps. And during rehearsals, Kirstie’s pal actor John Travolta aka ‘The Dance Doctor’ paid her and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy a visit, giving them some playful words of advice.

As for Kendra Wilkinson, she tied for last place with two others after earning a score of 22 for her foxtrot to “Yankee Doodle” which also marked the show’s 1,000th dance. Following Kendra’s comments stating that she felt “belittled and embarrassed” after Carrie Ann told her she lacked elegance, her partner Louis van Amstel advised her to view the comments as constructive criticism and not an attack. Louis’ words of wisdom seemed to help with Kendra giving her best performance of the season. “This is the most confident I’ve ever seen you,” said Carrie Ann.

The scores from last night below -

Hines Ward & Kym Johnson: 27
Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas: 26

TELL US – WHO DESERVES TO GO HOME TONIGHT ON DWTS?

There were no surprises last night on Dancing With The Stars as the star with the lowest combined score from the first two dances got the boot.

Radio host “Psycho” Mike Catherwood was the first to be eliminated this season after finding himself in the bottom three with Wendy Williams and Sugar Ray Leonard.

“It’s been nothing but a pleasurable experience,” said Mike, 32, of his time on the show. “It sucks to be sent home first, but I’ve made a lot of good friends,” he added. “America obviously knows that Lacey Schwimmer is a beautiful person on the outside, but everybody needs to know she’s equally, if not more, beautiful on the inside. I’ve made a lifelong friend.”

Do not feel sorry for Mike yet as there continues to be rumblings that he is being considered to replace Regis Philbin on Live With Regis & Kelly. Mike, a guest host on the show recently, confirmed ABC has invited him back to co-host a future episode.

Singer Chris Brown performed two songs on the show last night and it all went without a glitch as no windows were broken nor was he interviewed by show host Tom Bergeron. See, following Chris’s outburst at GMA last week, there had been some controversy surrounding his DWTS performance.

Tom went on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this week and stated “I did tell the producers it may be to their advantage to not have me interview him.” The reason? “Don’t put me in a position where you’re asking me to not say something,” said Tom, adding “cause I won’t really do that. Even if it’s just a snarky little aside, you know, ‘How was your week?’”

Also, dancer Cheryl Burke spoke out against Chris this week. “As a victim of domestic violence, I don’t agree with him coming on the show, but it’s out of my control,” said Cheryl to Extra. Wendy Williams also stated on her talk show last week that she was “disgusted with this little boy” following his GMA incident.

Next week, the stars return to compete on Monday night with a clean slate.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON MIKE’S ELIMINATION & WAS ABC WRONG IN ALLOWING CHRIS BROWN TO PERFORM?

Dancing With the Stars returned for its 12th season on ABC Monday night with a night full of surprises!

Front runner Kendra Wilkinson did not come out on top despite being declared the early favorite. Kendra found herself closer to the bottom of the pack, only scoring an 18 for her cha cha dance.

The biggest surprise of the night however was 60-year-old Kirstie Alley who wowed both the audience and the judges with her high spirited cha cha dance, earning a score of 23. Kirstie and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy brought a lot of fun, energy and silliness into their dance. In fact, judge Bruno Tonioli declared it “the best of the night.”

And while Kirstie earned the highest score in the cha cha category, the ‘Karate Kid’ Ralph Macchio scored the highest points of the night, garnering a 24 for his foxtrot with partner Karina Smirnoff. “What an amazing surprise!” said Carrie Ann Inaba. “It shocked me that you had such elegance.” Len Goodman went on to declare his performance “the best foxtrot tonight.”

Failing to sizzle was talk show queen Wendy Williams, who earned a low score of 14 for her stiff cha cha with partner Tony Dovolani, who Wendy did not know who he was during their first meeting. USA Today‘s Ann Oldenburg called Wendy’s performance “awful” adding that “the talk show host was stiffer than Kate Gosselin when she took the floor for her cha cha cha.” Ouch.

Promising were Disney starlet Chelsea Kane and NFL player Hines Ward. Next Monday, all of the 11 stars will return to the ballroom for a new dance. Votes and scores from the first two weeks will be combined to determine who goes home on the first live results show next Tuesday, March 29.

Following weeks of rumors, ABC officially unveiled the new cast of Dancing with the Stars on Monday night.

The upcoming 10th season will have 11 “stars” vying for the coveted mirror ball trophy. Above is a photo of ten of the stars which included the more notable Kirstie Alley, Kendra Wilkinson and Wendy Williams.

The other stars included Ralph Macchio – the original “Karate Kid”, hall of fame boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, NFL player Hines Ward, professional wrestler Chris Jericho, Disney actress Chelsea Kane, actor/host Mike Catherwood, and rapper Romeo, who’s dad Master P was part of the show’s second season in 2005. Missing from the above photo is model Petra Nemcova.

And missing from the cast all together is Tea Party candidate Christine O’Donnell, who revealed she was contemplating doing the show after being asked.
