I will admit that I voted forNeNe and Derekfor the switch up. I wanted to see a traditional "two-hand hold" ballroom dance between the two; alas, that is not what happened. The picture above – SMH – is what happened. NeNe took to her DWTS blog to tell us what she really thought about Derek, the dance, and her horrid costume.
First, NeNe gushed (and gushed some more) about Derek. "Oooh, hunni I had so much fun in last week's Switch Up! Derek is awesome, he's young, he's creative, he's an amazing choreographer. It was just fun to switch it up and see what another dancer could do and what their creativity was like."
It's a bit surreal to be writing this post about a Southern Charm romance as I wait on one of my dearest friends to arrive at my house. She's in town for the wedding Cameran Eubanks. She's America's newest sweetheart (Cameran, not my friend, although my friend is a close second), and I am totally on board. Love. Anyhoo, I digress. I am supposed to be talking about the romantic notions of one of Cameran's co-stars…
Well, who saw this coming? It seems that Whitney Sudler-Smith is in the midst of an international love affair…that, or his year-long relationship with German celebrity Larissa Marolt has finally gone from under the radar to the cover of tabloids all over the globe. You know Patricia is so proud. I am. His lady is a dish!
NeNe and Tony dropped by VH1's Big Morning Buzz to dish on all things DWTS and Housewives. I sometimes find NeNe a bit too full of herself, but that's also part of her charm, right? That is charm, isn't it? However, I love her rapport with Tony, and Nick just seems like someone fun to have coffee with first thing in the morning. It's a win-win!
Well, well, well, Julianne Hough has found herself in a bit of a pickle, hasn't she? The former Dancing with the Stars pro recently came under fire from some former co-stars when she returned this week as a judge with some harsh words for Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Julianne's critiques came during the Switch-Up Week where the pros were paired up with a celebrity who wasn't their normal partner. Maks was dancing with Winnie Cooper Danica McKellar instead of his regular teammate, Olympian Meryl Davis. Julianne was met with boos from the audience when she chastised Maks of his performance with Danica, saying, "You just had to phone it in so you could go back to Meryl."
While Maks has tried to remain diplomatic about Julianne's comments, his fellow professional dancers and the reality show's contestants are coming to his defense…except for NeNe Leakes. NeNe is totally TeamHough because, well, you know, she loves drama and instigating and all that jazz.
"Derek is great," shares NeNe. "He's a great choreographer. I've watched him dance over the seasons and I know how dope he is. What I like is that Derek knows that I am known for being fabulous – not that Tony didn't know that – but maybe he didn't know how to bring that out."
I cannot explain the feather sticking out of Derek's crotch in the above picture. I also have no words for Derek and NeNe's tribal-inspired jazz number. Derek looks like a flying monkey from the Wizard of Oz flapping his arms around next to giant NeNe. I can't – watch the video below.
No elimination tonight – last week's and this week's scores and viewer votes will be combined to determine who goes home next week. Will NeNe survive?
"The first time I got married to Gregg we were really stuck on attraction," says NeNe. "Our relationship started to really fizzle. We were not seeing eye to eye and we were arguing all the time. That doesn't work for me. I'm a really good communicator, like, I like to talk about everything. Gregg – not so much. For a long time we were not even speaking. I never stopped loving Gregg, so when we broke up, the connection was still there."
NeNe adds, "Gregg Leakesssss, this Rumba is for you. There is a little bit of grinding, honey, but don't worry. You know I'm coming home to you."
Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate! And twirl! Kenya Moore must have been a giant oak tree in a former life because she is all about the shade. Why is she even on Real Housewives of Atlanta if she can't stand all her co-stars? Nevermind. Stupid question…as if being friends is a prerequisite for any of the RHOA ladies!
I'm not sure if Kenya is attempting to channel her inner NeNe Leakes with recent venom-filled retorts, but she proves to be mildly entertaining. Calling out Porsha Stewart, the Neenster, and Phaedra Parks, Kenya proves that there is only one Krayonce, and she has her own personal brand of crazy!
I love to see someone taking an inventory of all of their talents and then using them accordingly. You have to give NeNe Leakes credit where credit is due. Girlfriend knows how to capitalize on her fifteen forty-five minutes of fame with savvy business decisions and calculated risks. Remember that NeNe that used to fly off the handle with drama on the early seasons of Real Housewives of Atlanta? She's been replaced with a diva who knows that too much crazy is a bad thing, and instead she gives us gems like "close your legs to married men, WIG!"
She's a smart one, I tell you. Sure, the Neenster may feel that she's too good for the show that made her famous, but soon enough, she may not need it. She's built quite the little empire for herself given her humble beginnings as a stripper. NeNe's held some legitimate acting roles and maintained her presence in the reality realm with her own spin-off and a stint on Celebrity Apprentice. I almost forgot about her present gig on Dancing with the Stars! Now, her past is meeting her present. With the Neenster's newest endeavor, she gets to exercise her acting chops while presumably using some of the skills she perfected on the pole. Anyone going to Vegas anytime soon? If so, NeNe may have the show for you!
