Even though the Real Housewives franchise has been going strong since 2006, there still hasn’t been a gay full-time cast member. That is so shocking for many reasons. It felt like that could have been a possibility on Real Housewives of New Jersey when Rosie Pierri was making her regular cameo appearances. Everyone loved Rosie. She brought heart and humor to the show. She even had an organic connection to the cast. Why wasn’t she promoted to a full-time cast member? That was a definite misstep.
During Season 7 of Real Housewives of New Jersey, Robyn Levy and her wife made occasional appearances. We never got to know her very well, but she was close with the cast members during that time period, so why didn’t she get more screen time? All of the full-time cast members have been straight women. Erika Jayne, an avid LGBTQ advocate, thinks it is time for a change. I couldn’t agree more.
It feels like Christmas Eve for reality TV fans. There are so many new seasons on the way and that means that your favorite reality TV stars are sharing behind-the-scenes photos.
Orange County Housewife Tamra Judge was a good sport holding up an orange for the Real Housewives of Orange County opening credits…while she leaned on a scooter with her broken foot. New York Housewife Sonja Morganshared a photo from one of her on-camera interview looks. Sonja’s costar Tinsley Mortimer ditched the glam squad (for a moment, at least) and put on her own lip gloss.
Some Real Housewives of Beverly Hills viewers think Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave is “boring.” Others think that she is refreshingly normal among this group of women who rely on glam squads, private jets, and drink-specific glassware. No matter what your opinion is, no one can deny that the newest Beverly Hills Housewife is a class act.
Teddi has not got along with Erika Girardi or her alter ego Erika Jayne all season. Erika jumped down her throat during the Vegas trip when Teddi innocently asked about her father. Erika skipped out on Teddi’s beach house sleepover to stay in a hotel, which did not go over well with Teddi or the rest of the cast. After that, they seemed to be on the same page while mediating the triangle of friendship drama with Lisa Vanderpump, Dorit Kemsley, and Kyle Richards. And then Erika erupted when Teddi accused her of having “pretend amnesia,” i.e. being a liar, and Teddi stormed out of the restaurant in tears.
I feel like Erika Jayne recorded the song XXpen$ive just to provide great headlines and opening paragraphs for articles about her lifestyle.
So here it goes, my completely unoriginal joke: It is XXpen$ive to be Erika Jayne. Obviously. She is the same person who said “Being rich is great and being poor sucks” and other similar phrases from the second she started filming Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
She got an apology from Erika, before getting that contractually obligated invitation to the Berlin cast trip and it will be interesting to see where things go from here. In real life, months after this season was filmed, Erika and Teddi have been dragging each other on Twitter, so even if things did improve between the two of them, clearly it was only temporary.
Two seasons later, Erika left her time as a neutral party behind. She fought with then-rookie Dorit Kemsley for most of her second season. And now Erika is at odds with season’s new girl Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave. Is this an unfortunate pattern or merely a coincidence? Erika opened up about that and more during the last episode of Watch What Happens Live.
First my condolences to Lisa Vanderpump who lost Pink Dog. Unbeknowst to Ken and Lisa, Pink Dog had a heart condition and went into cardiac arrest, dying in Ken’s arms on the way to the vet. Ken and Lisa are obviously devastated by losing one of their furry children, and worst of all, Ken blames himself. Then right after Pink Dog’s sudden passing, another of their pack, Pikachu, ended up on a ventilator. Grief? I’m sure Ken and Lisa have rescued at least 100 more dogs since then, and they’re now stacking them on top of each other like shoe boxes to form a furry bulwark against evil bitches, but it’s sad about Pink Dog all the same. RIP.
Hands down, our favorite Real Housewives past time happens to be episodes that involve psychics. Tonight we have another Real Housewives of Beverly Hills psychic dinner party, hosted once again by Kyle Richards, that will attempt to top her iconic Allison DuBois debacle. At the dinner, Erika Jayne admits to her own psychic abilities, while Dorit Kemsley learns a bit about one of her past lives and Kyle gets a hint of her late mom’s feelings about the TV projects she’s producing.
