Apparently, NeNe declared “I’m divorced” on the Season 4 reunion, but that clip never aired. It’s no secret that at the end of last season, things weren’t looking very good for the couple. However, according so some sources, a reconciliation may be in the works for NeNe and Gregg.
TamaraTattles has the scoop on what’s really been going down on this surely blessed and relaxing vacation. The girls have been partying non-stop on the beach – which is where the infamous photo of Phaedra Parks in a thong bikini came from (more on that below!).
The cast and crew arrived last Tuesday and are rumored to be staying at Modena Villa, a luxury resort renting for $5k a night in the off-season.
RadarOnline reports that former Miss USA (and ex-girlfriend of Terrell Owens), Kenya Moore is at the top of the shortlist to join the show. The only snafu in the plan – Kenya just moved to Atlanta! She advertised on Twitter that she has just relocated to the city of peaches from Detroit! “Gorgeous day ATL. I love being n country hearing the horse whinny next door juxtaposed w/ the gunshots from shooting range down the street.”
The last two seasons of Real Housewives of Atlanta have focused on NeNe Leakes marital issues, separation, and potential divorce from husband Gregg Leakes. Unfortunately, many suspected that NeNe and Gregg were creating the marital drama for ratings and a storyline!
This season NeNe was seen receiving elaborate gifts and “dating” sugar daddy, John Kolaj, as she wrestled with signing her divorce papers on film, citing she wasn’t ready to officially end her marriage. Even more confusing was the fact that NeNe and Gregg were seen together out and about several times over the last year when their marriage was supposedly in jeopardy and on the brink of divorce. It was to everyone’s surprise that in last week’s finale episode Bravo announced NeNe was officially divorced! When did that happen? And did it really?
The internet has been abuzz with questions about whether or not NeNe and Gregg’s marriage is actually over—or if it was a Bravo fabricated storyline with the two remaining in marital bliss behind the scenes. After all, last year NeNe was allegedly supposed to receive her own spin-off; which would focus on her single life and entry into the dating pool after fifteen years of marriage. Obviously that never happened—and many believed it was because NeNe was actually still very much a Mrs. and the couple wouldn’t go through with ending their marriage for a pay raise. Apparently, they have officially called it quits and the divorce is indeed a done deal.

It has been the Battle of the Bravo blogs for the ladies of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. NeNe Leakes comes to the defense of her new bestie, Marlo Hampton, while getting a couple digs to former biffle/mortal enemy Kim Zolciak. Of course, because she does everything that her Neenster idol does, Cynthia Bailey also professed her affinity for Marlo in her blog, while making a few comments about Kim, as well. Oh, and she also is adamant that she doesn’t do everything that her idol Neenster does. Sure…
NeNeblogs, “All the talk about Marlo’s fashion… LOL! I swear, these girls are not smart!” Oh Neens, I can hear your raspy voice laughing as I read those words.
NeNe goes on to remind viewers that at the Bar One opening, in the beginning of Season Three, the Smalls were fans of Ms. Hampton, as long as Marlo wasn’t a fan of NeNe’s. She recalls, “From what I understand and can see with these two good ole eyes of mine, they liked Marlo and were cool with her as long as she wasn’t cool with me! They were doing what haters do, being envious, conspiring, and trying to figure out a way to bring you down! They wanted so badly to have me and Marlo fight over a man I was NEVER involved with sexually! They were down with her!”
NeNe addresses Marlo’s, less than stellar (and might I add criminal), past and states that it has no bearing on the pair’s friendship. She explains, “Yes, I’ve heard about Marlo’s past, and everybody has one. Some worse than others, but she treats me nicely, so I see no need to not do the same for her!”
Having doled out enough compliments for a months worth of blogs (for NeNe, at least), she returns to what she does best–call out Kim, responding to rumors that a certain someone was MIA from the Africa trip because she couldn’t be in such close proximity with NeNe. NeNe continues, “As far as Kim not coming to Africa because of tension between me and her, it’s all lies. I’ve been in the same room as Kim a few times, and I give her nothing! I haven’t spoken to Kim in two years and have no plans to.” In all fairness, I have to point out that perhaps Kim’s newborn coupled with her husband’s absence was probably higher than NeNe on the list of reasons which caused her to decline the vacay.
NeNe touches on the women’s experience with the medicine man, and agrees–slightly– he was correct in saying her current (but estranged) husband, Gregg, is a good man. She cryptically reveals, “Gregg is a good person, which is why I married him, but a good man doesn’t always equal a good husband. I know what I’ve been through!” Wow. Sometimes what you don’t say speaks volumes!
Back in Atlanta, NeNe insists she is diving right back into the thick of things and living above the drama. She states, “I’m working on opening The L Lounge and getting various products on the market.”
Ending her blog on a high note, she proclaims, “I’m a lot of things at times, but one thing is for sure, I’ve always been the type of woman that stands alone, stands up for what I believe in, and doesn’t need validation from anyone!” I feel like I’m Every Woman should be playing!
On Cynthia’s Bravo blog, she writes the exact same things Nene did about her thoughts on Marlo, in light of the comments she made to the Smalls. Cynthia claims to like Marlo, but her blog entry is the slightest bit passive aggressive. Is someone sad that NeNe’s time is being monopolized by the newest Tall?
Cynthia begins, “I like Marlo. We are very cool, but we are not close. The most time we have spent together was in South Africa. Any time spent we spent together has been through NeNe. The two of them have become great friends and really connected. I am cool with all the girls (most of the time), but NeNe is the only one I talk to on a regular basis. I really don’t have a problem with Marlo, and like I said, personality wise, we are different.”
“Marlo loves fashion, and it seems to be a big part of who she is,” Cynthia continues. “I love fashion as well, but outside of my fashion school, fashion is not big priority in my personal life. I really don’t have an interest in talking about clothes, shoes, and bags all day long with Marlo or Karl Lagerfeld himself for that matter.”
Cynthia goes on to defend her statement about Marlo, saying, “I have no problem repeating any of the comments that I made regarding Marlo to NeNe (or Marlo) while on safari with the Smalls. I honestly didn’t think my comments about Marlo were a big deal. So what, I said that we have two different personalities and I don’t care to talk about fashion all day. That’s how I feel. What’s wrong with that?” Nothing…except you would never say that in front of the Queen Ne.
As if she read my mind, Cynthia writes, “NeNe knows exactly how I feel about Marlo, so what else did I need to say. These ladies have had plenty to say about Marlo, so my two cents seemed “small” in comparison.” Clever! See what she did there?
Her take on Marlo’s past is the same as NeNe’s. Cynthia says, “I have never questioned where Marlo gets her money, her criminal past, or this 80-year-old sugar daddy the Smalls seem to be so interested in talking about. I don’t care how any of the girls get the money to support their lavish lives, because it is none of my business.” Continuing, she compliments her new co-star, “Without question, Marlo rocks the hottest and latest fashions in this group! No one can touch her. While we may have a piece here and there, she is the walking (and talking) Gucci ad! I think she even gets a lot of her looks straight off the runway. Fabulous!”
Of course, Cynthia couldn’t let the compliment end there, adding, “If you see me with an expensive designer look straight off the runway, please believe it came straight from a NY showroom and I’m wearing it for free. I have a family and a business to support. I can’t afford it, and make it a point NOT to act like I can.” Mee. Yow.
Summing up her blog she gives her two cents on Kim. Cynthia admits, “I said I couldn’t PICTURE Kim in Africa at the orphanage holding African kids. I also said, ‘I’m not saying she WOULDN’T do it, I just can’t see it.’ That’s just my opinion, like it was her opinion that my marriage wouldn’t last a year. Kim and I are not exactly best buds, we don’t owe each other anything.” However, she is quick to add, I don’t think Kim is a racist.”
Finally, NeNe’s youngest son Brenttcelebrated his thirteenth birthday last week with both Nene and Gregg in attendance. While Cynthia was nowhere to be found, Marlo was on hand to gift Brentt a pair of Gucci sneakers! Can Marlo come to my next birthday bash? Check out pictures from the party below!
Also there is no new episode of RHOA tonight, instead Bravo will air a special about Kim and her husband Kroy. I can sense your high level of excitement!

Sweetie Hughes is tired of the speculation about why she no longer works for Kim Zolciak. The most infamous assistant to ever grace the screens on reality TV is speaking out about what really went on and setting the record straight on the rumors that she stole from Kim.
Speaking to StraightfromtheA, Sweetie reveals that the first time she heard the alleged rumor that she had stolen from Kim was on twitter, and she was shocked. Sweetie reveals that it’s absolutely absurd, and that for years she handled Kim’s money. “That shit is crazy! Do you know how much money I handled for Kim. As her assistant I had bank account access and all that… something that other assistants never had the opportunity to get that far… so as far as loyalty it’s been very high.”
“I think someone just made it up and I realize that out of every assistant she’s ever had, I’m the one they always talk about… they always try to keep my name out there, which is cool, it ain’t hurting me.”
Kim confirmed in a tweet that Sweetie definitely did not steal from her and rumors that she did are completely false. “@SweetieHughes would never steal from me you sick bloggers get a life,” Kim wrote.
Sweetie explains that Kim has been using employing her for years and she has no idea why she even became her assistant in the first place.”To be honest, I really don’t even know… I guess it was just spur of the moment. I just happened to know her so well it just worked out,” Sweetie shares.
“She had so many different assistants it just worked out. I worked for her way before she was famous. I did the same thing I was doing now back then… at the age of 15. The only thing I couldn’t do back then was drive…. coffee… scheduled appointments… I did it all.” I think calling Kim “famous” is a stretch…
When asked why she was fired, Sweetie was perplexed, openly admitting she doesn’t really know, but claims that she initially tried to quit! “I actually quit in the beginning and was like.. you know… I have school and stuff… but agreed to work until she found another assistant,” she explains. “And it so happens I just continued to work… but we went back and forth basically and it just went on and on.”
“Did she call me and while I was on my way to work to say not to come in to work or ‘its not gonna work out’? Yeah she did but I been asking for that about a year ago,” Sweetie reveals! As for what prompted the initial split, Sweetie blames the camera crews, but she feels they parted amicably. “I guess it’s a lot of stress, a lot of filming going on… but it’s not like it was on a really bad note.” Sweetie and Kim definitely remain friendly if twitter is any sort of reliable source.
Sweetie isn’t interested in giving away too many details about the break-up, she just wants to clear her good name. “I don’t want to bash nobody. The one thing I have is loyalty. A lot of people don’t have that and that’s the one thing I have.”
When asked about the rumor that Kroy Biermann was uncomfortable having African Americans in his home and that prompted Kim to let her go, Sweetie was pretty nebulous in her answer, simply stating that Kroy is “cool”
“Yeah… he’s cool. He cool. That’s all I’ve got to say. I prefer not to… umm… We’re just better off cool,” Sweetie muses. Interestingly she adds, “There’s only so much someone can take.”
My two cents: I had suspected Sweetie was growing tired of Kim’s divatude and her increasing demands. Regardless of how inappropriate NeNe’s behavior was on last year’s Miami bus trip, I think there was a kernel of truth to what she said, and Sweetie knew it on some level. I personally think Kroy either didn’t want Sweetie around so much or he felt like her work wasn’t up to standard, and that played a role in Sweetie’s termination. I believe the larger role was played by Bravo in order to drum up more of a storyline for Kim’s new spin-off and RHOA, Bravo may have encouraged Kim to make that a focal point. Or really, maybe they just both grew tired of each other!
On last week’s South African adventure, many wondered if Cynthia would be iced out of NeNe’s bestie circle and supplanted by Marlo Hampton, who was willing to buy NeNe’s love and access to celebrity with Gucci handbags. NeNe wisely did not take the bait – maybe cause the purse was ugly. Nonetheless, Cynthia seemed mighty left out as the other Talls played Barbie Dream House, meanwhile, she sat alone and self-styled at the breakfast table, while the Smalls speculated that she had been usurped.
Cynthia wants to make it clear that’s not the case, and the two are still very much in love, despite what the show might lead us to believe. “NeNe’s always been very supportive and very loving. I have no control over editing and what they choose to show on the show, but please believe me, NeNe supports 100 percent,” Cynthia tells Sister2Sister.
“I’ve definitely gone to her for a lot of guidance. She’s been in this game a lot longer than I have, and I think she’s smart, and she’s an incredible businesswoman,” Cynthia explains of why she values their friendship.
Cynthia also reveals that the person NeNe is still closest to, is possibly soon-to-be-ex-husband, Gregg Leakes and a reconciliation isn’t totally out of the question for the two! “Anytime NeNe really wants to talk to somebody she really considers a true friend, she’s going to call Gregg first, and I don’t think that’s gonna change if they move on or not.” NeNe has previously admitted in an interview that things aren’t over with Gregg, even though she has been hanging out with Olives, aka John Kolaj.
As for the haters spewing hate, Cynthia just ignores them and she doesn’t take them personally – because that’s Atlanta for you! Cynthia says she definitely treats the show as a “job” and that she uses it for “the amazing platform that it is.”
THOUGHTS ON SWEETIE’S COMMENTS ABOUT KIM? WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENED BETWEEN THE TWO OF THEM? ARE CYNTHIA AND NENE TRUE FRIENDS? WILL NENE AND GREGG GET BACK TOGETHER?
In the interview with The Insider, Nene, age 44, opens up about her acting role, her relationship status (hint – hubby Gregg Leakes is still in the picture) and reveals her thoughts on possibly joining the cast of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills!
Below are excerpts from Nene’s interview with the Necole Bitchie blog -
On Her New Role On ‘Glee’
I’m on ‘Glee’ and I play a character called Roz Washington. She’s the synchronized swim coach and she’s nemesis to Sue Sylvester, who is Jane. She’s very strong willed; she’s very straight forward; she’s not afraid of Sue Sylvester and she’s there to take somebody’s job.
On Her Acting Career -
A lot of people don’t know that we did a show “Before They Were Housewives” and I would come to Los Angeles for pilot seasons every year. One year I bumped into Robi Reed-Humes, who did a lot of casting for Spike Lee at the time, she got really known from doing that. She was casting a film with Cuba Gooding Jr. called “Fighting Temptations” and she cast me in that film and I was able to get my sag card that way. Then I had a small part in “The Parkers” & “Girlfriends.”
Then it kind of phased out for me. I wasn’t getting any auditions anymore and I really wasn’t coming out here to try. Then I met the producers of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” so I’m saying all that to say I was into acting long before I became a reality star. I would absolutely love to continue to act. Whether or not I leave reality TV, I don’t know. I can say this negativity pulls your energy down.
On Possibly Moving Over To The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills -
[Laughs] Stop it. I don’t know if I would transition and work with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. They’ve never done that before [but] that would be interesting if Bravo pulled that off. Right now, I think they like me in Atlanta. I would give them a run for their money.
On Who She’s Dating -
Myself. You know I will never have a public relationship again I don’t think. That’s one of the regrets I have; is putting my personal relationship out there. Greg and I aren’t totally done. Who knows what the future holds. I don’t know about putting my relationship out there but do I have secret admirers, of course.
Nene also spoke about her business ventures stating that in addition to the Sacramento airport restaurant she just opened called “Famous Famiglia”, she plans to open other restaurants. At the moment she’s working on a wine line called Miss Moscato and hopes “to do clothes, shoes, lashes… make-up and perfume.”
Not surprised to hear Nene admit she is still involved with Gregg. It has been widely reported that the two were never separated and that the whole storyline of The Nene dating business man John Kolaj was all manufactured for the RHOA. In fact, Nene and Gregg were photographed last year during filming, looking pretty cozy and trying to hide from the cameras.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON NENE’S INTERVIEW? WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE HER ON THE RHOBH? SURPRISED SHE’S STILL INVOLVED WITH GREGG?
The lovely thing about Real Housewives of Atlanta is the drama never stops, but it never gets to the mean, desperate, depressing places of Real Housewives of New Jersey or Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — meaning I don’t need a Prozac after watching and I don’t feel bad snarking on the women. Even when these ladies are fighting, clawing at each other and backstabbing all the way to Texas they still keep the fun and sassy in place. Just thought I’d open with a big shout-out to the only remaining silly Housewives show. Perhaps that’s why the franchise pulls in the highest Bravo numbers (hint, hint Cohen, et al)…
Anyway, NeNe Leakes is still waving the “Hater” flag and she is waving it wild and free in the faces of her colleagues. Who yeah, are haters, but it takes one to know one! In her latest Bravo Blog called “Lies and Gossip”, Ms. Leakes confronts her co-stars for talking about her constantly while pretending they just don’t care.
NeNe opens by giving credit where credit is due for keeping her name in the news.”We are up to the fifth episode, and the girls have talked about me in every one. Is that hating or what?”
“I laugh when watching the show, because it seems as if they all got together and said, “We’re going to talk about her and say this and that! We’re going to say Cynthia [Bailey]is up her a–!” All of this nonsense has truly backfired, because it has helped me in every way. So for that I say thank you!”
Since no one seems to want to let go of reDICKulous or NeNe fleeingKandi Burruss‘ faux birthday party without so much as a good-bye, NeNe gives more insight into her decision to leave. “Kandi’s birthday party — I had been out of the state working and once I returned, Kandi personally invited me to her birthday party,” NeNe explains.
“I was willing to go even though we don’t always get along with the same people. Phaedra [Parks]decided to give her a gift which was a monster-esque stripper that jumped out of a box and put his privates in his mouth. Then he put it into Kandi’s glass, stirred it up, and handed it back to her. It was just disgusting, so I decided to leave.”
And unlike some Housewives who may or may not have past in adult entertainment (ahem… Melissa Gorga), NeNe is not ashamed! “Yes, I’ve heard all the talk wondering why I would be put off when I used to be a dancer! And yes, I used to be a dancer. It was twenty years ago, and I’m not ashamed of it. I danced as a single mom to support myself when I was in my twenties after getting out of an abusive relationship. Not once however did I bend over and suck my own lady parts. I’ve done a lot of things in my life that I wouldn’t dare do today, and I would have to credit that to growth! I’m a real woman. I have lived and learned. I embrace who I am and don’t look to anyone for validation.”
As for why she was hours late to the opening of Bar One, NeNe claims Cynthia was aware of her tardiness and better late than never, anyways. “Cynthia and I know who we are as adult women, and we’re very comfortable in our skin. That’s why we’re able to have such a great relationship. I texted Cynthia several times, so she knew I was having an issue and would be late.”
“I walked into the room and owned it! Eyes were rolling and lips were smacking. After the ladies picked their faces up off the floor, I spoke to those I wanted to speak to and those who didn’t get a hello knew why,” NeNe admonishes.
Confronting the rumors of her alleged affair with Charles Grant, NeNe is calling foul! “These girls will not give credit where it’s due, because their goal is to tear you down and put out false information, just as they tried to do with me, Gregg [Leakes], and Charles. But that didn’t work either! Gregg and I have always been close. Gregg knows me and I know him. Our relationship was not based on lies or gossip!”
In fact, NeNe recently Tweeted: “I wouldn’t go 2 the zoo wit Charles Grant! I’am VERY n Love & VERY happy & this is a VERY good time 4 me n my life! Winning” And it seems next week we will meet the man responsible for her romantic happiness, John Kolja! According to WetPaint, he’s also responsible for some of her business success as he is the owner of the restaurant franchise she just opened! Although NeNe has yet to confirm their relationship they’ve been cited together looking cuddly, many times. Well, there you have it!
In other RHOA news Phaedra and her husband Apollo Nida, recently did an interview with ESSENCE.com about their appearance on the show positively affecting the portrayal of black families shown on television.
After the loving parents gushed about their now 16-month-old son Ayden, they talked about what viewers can expect to see from them this season. And because she’s no longer expecting, Phaedra says we’ll see her as a professional and an entrepreneur, as their family still has big plans to open a funeral home. Apparently, Apollo had a change of heart and is now fully on board with the plan and his brother is also involved!
Most importantly, Phaedra reveals her true intention behind going on the show was to demonstrate to the black community that marriage, along with “children in wedlock” are a good thing and a goal the black community should embrace. Phaedra hopes to demonstrate the importance of going to college and living the “American Dream” through her presence on the show (she should probably leave reDICKulous at home from now on…).
Phaedra adds that the public doesn’t see enough of that because there are so many “stereotypical portrayals” that the media “feeds into,” particularly “negative depictions” of black men. Especially interesting, it seems Phaedra was the catalyst for the cast’s trip to Africa this season, that she hopes shows viewers a different side of both Africa and the ladies!
It was a great interview, and I feel, an opportunity to see Phaedra and Apollo as they really are which is intelligent, well-spoken, family-oriented people who are likely very different from what we see on TV. After all, Phaedra has confessed to “playing a character” on the show! You can view the video below!
THOUGHTS ON NENE’S BLOG? ARE HER CO-STARS TOO FOCUSED ON HER LIFE? WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON PHAEDRA’S INTERVIEW?
