to get richer expand her Skinnygirl line!
Just months after selling her Skinnygirl drink line for a reported $100 million, the Bethenny Ever After star has now announced her plans to launch a Skinnygirl skincare line… in addition to the Skinnygirl Cleanses, Skinnygirl Shapewear and Skinnygirl Books.
Bethenny, 40, announced the launch of Skinnygirl Face & Body Solutions and Skinnygirl Mommy on Friday. She joins forces with the beauty firm Lotta Luv for a 30-product body and skincare line called Honesty by Bethenny.
The reason for the name? Well it’s because Bethenny is not one for the gimmicks! “A $150 eye cream is ridiculous and absurd,” she told WWD. “[Promises like] ‘you’re going to look like Heidi Klum in two days’ or ‘like you had a face-lift’ have always bothered me.”
The products will range from lip glosses to body cream! The Honesty by Bethenny line is set to debut in select Wal-Mart stores in November 2011 and will retail for $15 and under. Not bad. Some of the products will reportedly feature spirit-inspired scents.
And in a recent interview with CNN, Bethenny makes it clear she isn’t just putting out these product lines to make money. “Any product that I add to the Skinnygirl line has to be innovative, solve a problem for women, and help them to live healthier, better lives,” she said. “My line is straightforward, honest, and doesn’t make false promises. I’ve turned down a multitude of product ideas from headbands to diet pills.”
She adds, “If I wouldn’t use a product myself, it doesn’t become part of the Skinnygirl brand.”
In other Bethenny news, she also continues to make it crystal clear that her reality TV days are numbered! “I’m getting tired of reality TV, of every moment being documented,” said Bethenny who has a talk show in the works. “But a talk show, where I could have longer conversations than on Facebook or Twitter – would be great. There are many things I want to talk to women about. While the other housewives were off getting drunk, I was doing business.”
