Bethenny however makes it clear just how much she adores her baby girl Bryn Hoppy, who is now a healthier 9 1/2 pounds at three and a half months old.
“Bryn’s a big pink baby now,” said Bethenny to Parade while hosting a press conference for drugstore.com. “Bryn likes pink — it’s her new favorite color. She is really growing up, and it is making me upset.”
And when it comes to her favorite pastime with baby Bryn, Bethenny shares, “We sing for an hour every day. I sing to her, and Bryn sings back. We sing Rihanna, Pink, gangsta rap.”
In other Bethenny news, the NYDailyNews is reporting today that during the Drugstore event, Bethenny took a swipe at her fellow Bravo housewife Danielle Staub.
Danielle, who has been fired from the Real Housewives of New Jersey, has told the press she is working on a solo reality show. It seems however that Bethenny, the only Bravo housewife to get her own solo spin off show on the network, is not willing to share that title, well at least not with Danielle.
“I’ll bet everything I hope to be that she will not have a spinoff on Bravo,” is what Bethenny is quoted as saying. Ouch.
Despite the show’s high ratings, Bravo has yet to announce a second season, though it is likely there will be a season two. This season has brought us a wedding and the birth of Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy‘s first child.
In tonight’s episode, as Bethenny (slowly but surely!) adjusts to motherhood, her emotions take over when she must leave Bryn overnight to head out of town on business. With her new priorities, Bethenny is in tears as she heads out the door, leaving Bryn and Jason back in NYC. Luckily, once she’s back the new family heads for a vacation out in Montauk. Bringing along the whole crew, the baby nurse, Julie and Max, the trip is off to a rocky start when Jason and Bethenny realize they’ve forgotten a place for Bryn to sleep, along with many other essential baby items.
In other Bethenny news, just a week after some of the Real Housewives of DCcalled Bethenny their role model, the Real Housewives of NYC star is dishing out some advice to the DC ladies.
When asked by the HollywoodLife what she would like to tell the DC ladies, Bethenny says: “Be true to yourselves and don’t manufacture who you want to be on the show” she advises. “It’s not fool’s gold — you don’t go on television to be rich, famous and successful . You have to have something to back it up.”
She also advises the ladies to keep their kids away from the cameras as much as possible: “Look at what happened in Jersey,” Bethenny said “I haven’t really been watching, but I hear one of the Jersey daughters [Ashley] is in a fight with one of the Housewives [Danielle].”
“I would say keep your kids out of it as much as possible,” Bethenny suggested. “You’ve got to be an adult and know how to deal with it.”
Bethenny also took the time to thank DC Housewives Stacie Turner and Mary Amons for referring to her as their role model. “I think it’s really nice that the D.C. housewives say I’m the housewife role model,” Bethenny said. “That’s flattering and so nice!”
TELL US: WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE FINALE OF BETHENNY GETTING MARRIED? DO YOU WANT A SEASON TWO?
After a long and tough labor, Bethenny and Jason are joined at the hospital by Jason’s parents to welcome baby Bryn into the world. Like most new parents, when it’s finally time to take Bryn home the two have no idea what is in store for them; they can’t even get the baby out of the car seat without the baby nurse’s help!
Sleepless nights and new motherhood turn Bethenny’s world upside, but with her patient husband and loving in-law’s, it’s nothing she can’t handle. How will Bethenny and Jason survive the first couple of weeks as clueless and exhausted parents? And will they ever master getting Bryn out of her car seat? Find out this at 10/9c on Bravo.
In other Bethenny news, though she has made her mark by doing reality shows, it seems Bethenny is very against her daughter ever following in her footsteps. She calls the idea “traumatizing.”
When asked by PEOPLE what she would do if Bryn grows up and tells her she wants to be on a reality show? “I will kill somebody,” answered Bethenny jokingly. “Not her, but I will kill somebody.”
Bethenny then went on to add that it might depend on the kind of show it is. If it’s a show like BGM which she describes as allowing you to be “really, totally honest and be yourself.”
She however dismissed the idea all together hoping “by the time she grows up, there won’t be even be reality shows.” But isn’t Bryn kinda sorta already a reality star, you know, considering she is about to become a regular cast member on Bethenny’s Getting Married?
Below is a preview clip of tonight’s episode.
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON TONIGHT’S EPISODE OF BETHENNY’S GETTING MARRIED?
Bethenny delivered her baby girl Bryn Hoppy back in May. Bryn came 5 weeks early for the first time mom. Above is a new photo of baby Bryn with Bethenny and dad Jason Hoppy.
Coming up tonight, 5 weeks before the due date and fresh off their honeymoon, the newlyweds realize that the time has come… Bethenny is going into labor! Bethenny and Jason frantically try to rearrange their busy schedules (well, Bethenny at least), get to the hospital and stay calm through the hours and hours of labor as they welcome baby Bryn into the world. As usual, the couple keeps things amusing, even through the labor pains! A preview clip is below.
In other Bethenny news, fresh off the feud with fellow reality star Omarosa, could a new feud be brewing up for Bethenny? That answer is yes according to E! News. Bethenny, during an interview with E!, had some rather harsh words for Bristol Palin and her rumored reality show with baby daddy Levi Johnston.
“If it was her mom getting married or remarried it would be interesting,” said Bethenny. “If it was Sarah was raising the baby, maybe. But what’s the deal with the two of them?”
“I don’t know what they are and I don’t even know who they are,” she added. “I don’t get it. And it would be too awkward to watch them in something L.A. because they don’t belong there.” Ouch, neither Bristol nor her people have yet to respond to Bethenny’s meanunprovoked comments.
Bethenny, who has stated on numerous occasions that she would rather not return to the Real Housewives of NYC, is however open to doing a second season of BGM, perhaps this time titled Bethenny Going For Baby #2? “I can’t have that many more because I’m not a spring chicken,” said the 39-year-old. “But my husband really wants to have another one. I think maybe subconsciously because his brother passed away and he’s now an only child is part of the reason he’s really desperate to have another.”
She also adds that her success with her diet books, drinks, shows etc is still somewhat of a surprise to her. “I thought I was destined for something special, but I certainly didn’t know it could be like this,” she said. “It’s very surreal.”

TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE NEW EPISODE OF BETHENNY’S GETTING MARRIED?
While we ponder the answer to that, a new episode of BGM is set to air tonight. Now that the wedding is over, Bethenny and hubby Jason Hoppy finally get a chance to relax on their honeymoon, well that is until Bethenny’s hormones decide to rear their ugly head.
Bethenny’s hormones get the best of her during the trip, but a very understanding and sweet Jason is thankfully there to calm her nerves about the new family they are forming.
Will Bethenny be able to really let go and enjoy her honeymoon or will her emotions get the best of her? Find out this tonight at 10/9c on BRAVO.
Just a week after her PEOPLE magazine cover story came out detailing her volatile childhood, Bethenny Frankel’s mother, Bernadette Birk, is now telling her side of the story to Star magazine.
“I love my daughter but what she’s saying is killing me,” Bernadette reveals in a new interview in this week’s issue of Star. Bernadette denies Bethenny’s assertion that she was a bulimic who was always drinking.
Bethenny told PEOPLE Bernadette was “never a mother to me” and calls her childhood “toxic.” Bernadette, an interior design professor, admits there was discord in the family but insists Bethenny was “the most important person in my world.”
Bernadette says she and Bethenny have only spoken twice in the last 10 years, also adding that she only knows what is going on in Bethenny’s world by watching her on television.
Bernadette’s ex-husband and Bethenny’s former stepdad John Parisella did however corroborate Bethenny’s story in PEOPLE.
TELL US: WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS STORY AND THE NEW EPISODE OF BGM?
“My mother hasn’t expressed any interest in meeting Bryn, which was shocking to my husband,” says Bethenny to Parade. “Life is hopefully long, so I don’t know what the future will bring. Right now, I would say no. I only want positive energy around her for as long as possible. Life will be difficult enough before she knows it.”
This comes just days after Bethenny’s cover story with PEOPLE magazine during which she opened up about her childhood abuse. “I never had a true childhood,” she tells People. “There was a lot of destruction: alcohol abuse, eating disorders and violent fights.”
Bethenny’s father is the now deceased highly known horse trainer Bobby Frankel. According to Bethenny, Bobby walked out on she and her mother, Bernadette Birk, when she was just 4 years old. Bethenny’s mom re-married another horse trainer named John Parisella when Bethenny was 5, which led to them moving homes seven times in over 10 years. Bethenny says her father cut her off when Bernadette accused him of keeping money from them. She also says her father seemed to resent her and punish her for the actions of her mother.
Things then got hostile with Bernadette and her new husband John. “The house would be in shambles,” Bethenny says of her mom’s vicious outbursts in which she would smash “dishes, pictures, the TV — anything she could see” and physically fight with John. Bethenny says she would either have to hide in her closet or call the police to break things up.
Bethenny also sheds light on her troubles with her weight and drugs during her teen years. She began starving herself and purging at the age of 13. “I was owned by dieting,” she says. “I hated myself.” Her situation worsened when she began clubbing in her teens, drinking heavily and even doing cocaine.
As for Bethenny’s relationship with her mother today, she says the two have barely spoken in the past 10 years. Bethenny however makes it clear she is over the past and is now in a better place with her husband and daughter. “I just want to give her the life I didn’t have,” says Bethenny of baby Bryn.
The big day has finally arrived and Bethenny Frankel is indeed getting married! A few select housewives aka Alex McCord and Ramona Singer (and plenty of awaiting paparazzi) are present as the Bride prepares to walk down the aisle. With her due date in the near future, a very pregnant Bethenny gets desperate when she needs a bathroom break too close to show time.
Tune in tonight at 10/9c on Bravo to see Bethenny and Jason exchange their vows. Photos from the big day can be seen here.
Speaking of Bethenny, though a lot of amazing things seem to be happening to her – think PEOPLE magazine cover and a hit reality show – some are starting to wonder if it’s all too much too soon.
I blogged a while back stating that watching Bethenny on BGM gave me some cringeworthy moments. I didn’t go into detail about it but the folks at NyMag.com wrote a good article asking is Bethenny to BGM what Jill Zarin was to the Real Housewives of New York City. As in is well liked Bethenny the villain of her own show?
Examples of Bethenny’s villainess behavior include asking her assistant Max Meiselto pick out her panties for her, scolding him for not having the car ready after one of her speaking arrangements, getting snappy with fiance Jason, or how about when Jason’s mom took Bethenny wedding dress shopping and tearfully told her “I finally have a daughter.” Bethenny seemed moved by her comments and teared up as well only to then turn around and act like she was doing the woman a favor, in therapy, when she stated “I could have gone on my own.”
It didn’t end there as Bethenny then held it against Jason during a later argument about how she had to take his mom dress-shopping. The writer makes an excellent point when she says Bethenny “should be thanking these people for not holding it against her that she’s dragged them onto Bravo.”
Another blogger at Chicagonow.com wrote a nice article asking “Is Bethenny Frankel being built up just to be torn down?” Bethenny seems to be at her peak right now with the husband, hit show, popularity amongst the fans, and of course the PEOPLE magazine cover. And trust folks, the People magazine cover is a HUGE deal. She’s been on the cover before but she’s never had the main cover dedicated to her. That’s a first for any Bravo reality star. In fact the only other reality stars who has had a cover story dedicated to them on People are Kate Gosselin, and some past Bacheloralums. Oh yeah, and the above picture is of Bethenny during her appearance on CBS’ Early Show today.
The article questions if the tide is turning for Bethenny as some fans are jumping ship based on what they’ve seen on BGM, you know Bethenny being a pregzilla bridezilla. Then there’s also been the negative press questioning her rapid weight loss after the birth of daughter Bryn, and the whole beef with reality villainess Omarosa.
But then again perhaps we the bloggers are over-analyzing what we see on TV. My take on this? I’m a Bethenny fan, and still like her for the moment. My fear however is those sentiments might change by the time this season of BGM ends. I hope that’s not the case. Perhaps I’m just overreacting to what is normal behavior by a hormonal pregnant lady who’s planning a wedding. But perhaps I’m not. Perhaps Bethenny is just too honest and doesn’t know where to draw the line in filming a reality show. Or perhaps she’s just a villain. I would love to hear your views and opinions on Bethenny on Bethenny Getting Married?
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS STORY AND ON BETHENNY ON BGM?
Bethenny, who can be seen on the cover with 8-week-old daughter Bryn, is opening up about her painful past.
“I never had a true childhood,” said Bethenny, 39, the only child of legendary horse trainer Bobby Frankeland his first wife, Bernadette. “There was a lot of destruction: alcohol abuse, eating disorders and violent fights.”
Bethenny also reveals to the mag that she has long been estranged from her mom, whom she describes as “extremely volatile. She was never a mother to me.” Bethenny is however now grateful for the chance to create a stable home with hubbyJason Hoppy and their daughter: “I live for this baby.”
You can read more about Bethenny’s story in the latest issue of PEOPLE. In other Bethenny news, she did a phone conference interview just days ago and below are some of the tidbits she revealed -
On whether she’s ever wished she hadn’t done something in front of the cameras: Bethenny Frankel: No. It’s who I am and I’m never going to edit myself or not do something . . . everything that happens on the show, my life really is. That’s the one good relationship that I really do have with my fans: the honesty. If someone asks me if I’m pregnant, then I say “yes I am” if I am. That’s the thing I really take pride in, is telling the truth. It is what it is.
On whether there will be a second season of Bethenny Getting Married?: BF: We haven’t discussed it yet, but I imagine that there will be.
On the pros and cons of begin married to Jason: BF: There are so many pros; the man was in the hospital with me for six days from the minute my water broke to when I had the baby, that’s the kind of person he is. He’s there and a total partner. I have to say, I don’t think there’s any cons to being married to him.
On her relationship with the other Real Housewives Alex and Ramona: BF: They’re in my repertoire of friends, we email each other, see each other once in a while; it’s all very clean. It just is.
On why she thinks Jill has turned her animosity toward Alex: BF: I’m the one who had the baby and all that stuff, so you can’t be mean to the pregnant girl, so I guess she had to find someone new to have an issue with. Alex is the wrong one [to target], I have to say — there’s nothing underhanded about her at all.
