Hollywood Exes Stars Jessica Canseco And Andrea Kelly Say Real Housewives Doesn’t Empower Women

Uh-Oh… is there a feud of the wives brewing on the horizon? Jessica Canseco and Andrea Kelly, the stars of Hollywood Exes, are speaking out about how the Real Housewives franchise is all about drama – and NOT about friendship! Well, duh!

“We need to support each other as women rather than beating each other up,” Jessica told RadarOnline. And she says that’s the difference between their show and other reality shows with “wives” in the title.

“It is absolutely a different message to other reality shows where the women are not even friends and they end up hating each other,” Andrea added. “Why would anyone want to bring somebody down?” she asked. Oh, I dunno – Ratings, money, contracts, endorsement deals… I could go on.

Hollywood Exes Recap: Dance, Jewelry, and Whoop Ash

Hollywood Exes follows the lives of five beautiful and talented women who once lived the high life, married to elite stars. Now, such a pity, they have to drive themselves and work to pay their mortgages. Surprisingly, the women are all down to earth and likable. For now. Only time will tell if they turn this nice refreshing show into a catty nightmare. Refreshing is nice, but I’m finding the show somewhat boring. Hopefully the story line finds a nice middle ground.

It’s official. Jessica Canseco is planning on moving her ex, Jose Canseco, back into her house. Because it worked so well for her the first time. And, in the many years since, he’s proven himself a changed man. Jessica is a hopeless romantic, idiot, all of the above…

She has very high expectations for this arrangement. Jessica plans on making Jose clean, cook, drive, and parent Josie. Basically, Jessica wants Jose to make up for the seven years he’s been MIA. Oh, Jessica. She’s delusional if she thinks Jose is looking for anything but a free ride and some action on the side. Even Jessica’s friends see Jose for what he is, a freeloading creep. Nicole Murphy thinks Jessica would be better off hiring help. Nicole is a wise woman.

Nicole Murphy: Once married to funny man Eddie Murphy, Nicole is worth a cool $5M. Before becoming Mrs. Murphy and having five kids, Nicole was a model, actress, and singer; however the bulk of her income allegedly comes from the $15M lump sum divorce settlement she received.

Hollywood Exes Recap: Andrea Throws A Wigging Out Party

Hollywood Exes on VH1 features Jessica Canseco (ex to Jose Conseco), Nicole Murphy (ex to Eddie Murphy), Andrea Kelly (ex to R. Kelly), Sheree Fletcher (ex to Will Smith), and Mayte Garcia (ex to Prince). They all have famous exes, but the show is about the these women living their lives as friends, moms, and business women.

Sheree Fletcher shows Andrea Kelly around LA. LA is a completely different world for Andrea, who recently moved there from Chicago. They start at the Sprinkles Cupcakes “ATM” machine. Andrea says, “Shut the door and check your email!” Andrea brings a ton of personality to this show. But I might have to start watching it with closed captioning, because 54% of the time I have no idea what she’s saying.

Not many people realize that R. Kelly was married to Andrea. Being a “phantom” took its toll on Andrea, she says.

Hollywood Exes Recap: Moving On And Making Friends

VH1 follows the lives of five women who were once married to Hollywood A-listers on Hollywood Exes. VH1 sets up the show – “Simply put, these girls are starting over. They all divorced young and got married even younger, so now is when they need each other’s back the most. From raising kids to starting new businesses… these exes are ready to tackle a very busy year.” And they’re going to let us watch! Tonight’s premiere is mostly meet and greet.

Andrea Kelly was married to R. Kelly for 12 years. Unfortunate for all involved, R. Kelly was busted for peeing on a teenager during that time. They divorced in 2009. Andrea started as “Robert’s” (R. Kelly) choreographer. They no longer keep in touch. Andrea is moving to LA to spread her wings and open a dance studio. Andrea is wearing earrings as big as dessert plates. They’re making me hungry for cheesecake.

Andrea introduces us to Tony, her assistant, friend, and partner in crime. The name on his shirts suggests he also answer to “Slick.” Andrea is moving to LA ahead of her family. She’s very emotional. Andrea is best friends with Nicole Murphy.

Vh1 is about to unleash Hollywood Exes upon us. The show will follow the lives of five women once married to major Hollywood A-listers. Now that they’re no longer married to huge stars, the ex-wives are hitting up realty TV to resuscitate their images. Sadly, it probably won’t have the desired effects, but anyway, the drama on this show looks over the top and these girls are going the distance to get some attention!

Per VH1: “Simply put, these girls are starting over. They all divorced young and got married even younger so now is when they need each other’s backs the most. And from raising kids to starting up a new business … these women are ready to tackle a VERY busy year.”

“At a glance, all these girls are at a different phase in their relations with their exes. Some have remained friends while others can’t even say their names out loud, but either way, the girls have the support of each other to fall back on. These women aren’t exactly new acquaintances either. Some have known each other even before they were married so there is clearly a strong sisterhood within the group dynamic. ”

Hollywood Exes premieres Wednesday, June 27th at 9/8c on VH1
