Oh, Jill Zaaaaaaarin. Give it up already and stop trying. I’ll admit, I’ve found you mildly amusing (albeit irreverent) in the past, but it’s just getting sad at this point.
The failed reality star recently hosted a “Find Your Magic” Spring Fashion Show at Macy’s in Philadelphia. The event presumably partnered with Jill to advertise her shapewear and her new jewelry line–both of which are sold at the department store–and was supposed to highlight spring trends and accessorizing.
As part of her appearance, Jill hosted a mini runway show and was supposed to educate attendees about incorporating the new spring trends into your current wardrobe, but sadly, Jill again let her guests down. No, she didn’t tell them being a stay-at-home mother sucked–it wasn’t that bad–she just didn’t impart any useful fashion information and bailed after less than an hour. At least according to one, less than impressed guest.
According to the Philadelphia Weekly Style Section, Jill was an uninspiring host. “I was hoping to see something new, but she [Jill] only showed trends that are in every other store,” PW Style reports. “The only trends discussed were bold colors and chunky heels.”
Even worse, Jill “couldn’t name what designer created each article of clothing. Several times throughout the show Jill mentioned that she loved a piece, yet had no idea who made it,” the review continues. “Rather than be professional and ask a Macy’s representative who it was, she just moved right on with the show…”
Sadly, things went from bad to worse after the show when an audience meet and greet was scheduled. The former Real Housewives of New York star demanded a makeup touch-up AND refused to wear a bracelet one of the Macy’s representatives had selected for her! Jill reportedly “ripped it off her wrist and threw it on the floor.” The reason? It wasn’t part of the Jill Zarin Jewelry Collection! A photo of Jill from the event is above.
Considering Jill allegedly has no other job to speak of, and what little celebrity she ever had is rapidly dwindling, you’d think she would take her gigs a little more seriously. Particularly because Macy’s sells her products and heavily promotes her.
So there you have it, Jill conducting herself with class, as always. Quick question: who is still booking this woman at events? #epicfail.

ARE YOU SURPRISED JILL DISAPPOINTED FANS AT ANOTHER EVENT? IS EVERYONE TOO HARD ON JILLZY?
Jill Zarin has found herself in the crossfire again. It seems that ever since her friendship with Bethenny Frankel fell by the wayside, Jill can do nothing right. The most recent controversy surrounding the red-headed former reality star centers around an appearance at the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas’ Women’s Event at Night. Jill was billed as the keynote speaker, and along with her sister, Lisa Wexler, and her mother, Gloria Kamen, they were to discuss their advice book Secrets Of A Jewish Mother.
Somewhere along the way a few people were offended by comments Lisa allegedly made, insulting stay-at-home mothers, rumors began circulating that women stormed out or left in “droves.” One lone tweeter with an agenda (an agenda as she self-admittedly loathes Jill) decided to claim Jill and her family were “hot messes” and “disastrous”, offending many of the 700 guests in attendance. Well, of course, the blogs and then the media picked up on the alleged controversy, which prompted the organizers of the event to send a formal email apology letter to all the women who attended.
Jill is finally speaking out giving her side of things and claiming that very few people were actually upset, and the supposed mass walk-out was largely comprised of women who needed to leave, as the event ran long. She claims no one was behaving as if they were upset during or after Lisa’s comments.
“They completely lied,” Jill tells Naughty Nice Rob. “They didn’t have their listening ears on and misunderstood what she said. No one walked out. It was running one hour late and was already 10:00 PM after dessert, so a few left. I have it all on tape.” Indeed, Jill does have it on tape – and the videos are up on her YouTube channel!
“From the minute we got on stage, we had mic issues,” Jill recounts. “So bad that they took off all our individual mics and gave us only one big handheld mic — so unprofessional. No one could really understand us.”
Jill adds, “We were thrown under the bus. We were never asked to be funny. We were asked to talk about subjects in the book, which we did.”
Lisa is also speaking out about what happened, taking to her radio show, and not backing down from her comments. Lisa describes the episode as a miscommunication. And she is not willing to apologize to the Federation or the women who attended the event, but she is sorry that Jill is taking the heat from her comments. She is also sorry she chose the wrong forum to express her feelings.
Lisa insists she was not insulting stay-at-home mothers, but merely discussing the quandary any professional woman faces once she decides to become a mother, which is a subject broached in their book, and very few people even noticed her comments during the event. Lisa blames herself saying she did not prepare adequately for the program and essentially admitted to ad-libbing. She says the controversy was started by people on Twitter that don’t like Jill and attack her from multiple aliases.
Jill also appeared on her sister’s show, both women both claim there was no dispute between the Federation until the twitter/media episode blew it out of proportion, and the Federation issued the letter as damage control. Jill believes the Federation had “no right” to send that letter and “hurt their livelihood,” particularly without discussing the matter with them first. Jill doesn’t feel anything said was so egregious it warranted so much upheaval and she defended Lisa’s comments as “lessons.”
Jill is still disappointed by the “atrocious” handling of the situation and the lack of communication by the Dallas chapter – apparently, they found out about the letter through the internet! Jill explains they have spoken at many chapters across the country with no controversy, and they have been asked back repeatedly. Jill is also offended that her participation as a member (a Lion of Judah) was not considered in the Dallas chapter’s handling of said negative reaction from attendees.
Unfortunately, in the radio broadcast, emotions got out of hand where Jill is concerned, and she released the name of the woman who sent the email apology (which is already all over the internet thanks to the prolific posting of the letter). Jill is furious and hopes she will suffer consequences for the letter. Jill point-blank mentioned that she thinks the woman should be fired.
Jill continues to speak of how the event was mismanaged and she had no idea the event was a fundraiser or that they were billed as the “entertainment.” Jill maintains that many people left simply because the time management issues, and the Federation attempted to blame her and her family for their own poor organization skills.
Lisa astutely points out that Susan (the author of the letter), a full-time working mother, should be understanding of Lisa discussing the challenges working mothers face. Jill says the Federation benefited from the controversy since it gained national attention and she made front-page news over the “nonsense.”
Jill also talked about learning to deal with negative reactions from the media – a lesson learned from appearing on Real Housewives of New York. Jill cautions viewers about the editing process, which vilified her in favor of Bethenny. Jill believes “somebody” on RHONY (whose name she did not mention) paid a select group of people to besmirch her reputation and continue to slander her in the press through the internet.
According to Jill, she has subsequently received a lot of apologies from fans who feel they misjudged the situation initially, and she says, “haters will be haters.” All in all, a lot of huff and puff over what seems like a simple miscommunication!

THOUGHTS ON JILL AND LISA’S REACTIONS TO THE CONTROVERSY? DO YOU THINK THE ENTIRE THING WAS BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION AND HANDLED INAPPROPRIATELY BY ORGANIZERS OR DID LISA’S COMMENTS WARRANT THE REACTION?
Former reality villainess, Jill Zarin is in heaps of trouble after a disastrous and embarrassing appearance at the Jewish Federation of Dallas’ Women’s Event at Night. Jill, along with her sister, Lisa Wexler, and her mother, Gloria Kamen, were booked to speak about Jewish mothers, because as you know, they wrote a little book about the subject, Secrets of a Jewish Mother.
Things were apparently a mess from start to finish and went so awry the organization issued an apology letter to attendees! A copy of that letter is below!
Apparently, the event got off to a rocky start when the fired, Real Housewives of New York star claimed she couldn’t actually speak because she forgot her glasses, and therefore was unable to see her notes. Gee, how about thinking and planning ahead Jillzy? Then according to a guest, Jill, Lisa, and Gloria bickered the entire time, under the pretense of being amusing. The real issue occurred when Lisa, a renowned radio host, began lecturing the audience about the importance of women working outside the home.
According to an anonymous attendee, who communicated her experience to LynnNChicago, it all began when Lisa and Jill staged some sort of a mock Q&A session where they imagined things the audience (a large crowd) would inquire about. Jill would then answer how she would handle a given situation. Lisa, allegedly, took that opportunity to speak at length about the feminist movement, and the importance of women having careers; chastising them against being full-time stay at home mothers once their children are no longer babies. Lisa implored women to have a job outside the home because that is the only way to be fulfilled and happy!
Lisa, supposedly, informed the audience that being out of the workforce for more than five years to focus on motherhood is preposterous, rendering your career all but dead. Apparently, many of the audience members had more than one child, stay home full-time to raise them, and consider motherhood their primary responsibility. Audience members began to leave as Lisa was speaking and Jill looked horrified and uncomfortable by her sister’s comments. As she should be! “Women were walking out in droves,” the source reports.
Jill and her family were reportedly described as “hot messes” by guests, who were terribly offended by the comments made at the event. The anonymous attendee further complained that their speech was not “well planned.”
Jill’s mother also, allegedly, referred to Jill’s first husband, as a “dwarf” then a “little person” during an anecdote where she shared why she advised Jill against marrying him. Jill’s ex-husband is merely short, but nevertheless his height is a ridiculous reason to advise Jill not to marry him! That man is also Jill’s daughter, Ally Shapiro‘s father. “No one was pleased,” the woman adds, claiming when they later saw Jill in the lobby it was uncomfortable and awkward.
After the speech was allegedly cut short by organizers, because of the exodus, Jill, Lisa, and Gloria set up a table to sell and sign books. “Then it abruptly ended- Jill said they brought plenty of books for people and she would sign them and take pics,” an attendee describes. “There were 2 people buying books when I left and 2 people at the signing table. Everyone else was getting out of there as fast as they could!!” Yikes.
Jill claims they donated the books, but an event insider says organizers actually bought the books to give to table hosts as a token of appreciation.
Event organizers issued a formal apology letters to attendees for the comments made by Jill’s sister. “We also realize that our entertainment after dinner was a true and complete disappointment,” read the apology letter. “Their presentation was not what we had planned with them and certainly did not meet our expectations of a funny and poignant take on Jewish motherhood.” You can read the letter in its entirety below.
Lisa seems to have a completely different take on what happened, claiming the organizers were pleased with her contribution! “I spoke from my heart. I spoke of my values as expressed in our book and on my radio show every day,” she retorted in a statement to RadarOnline. “In a group of 700 women, some will agree with me and others will not. As to the specific allegation that I spoke against stay at home moms, that is an absolute lie.”
“We have presented to numerous groups throughout the country with very positive feedback. We are disappointed to hear that some members of the Dallas audience did not feel that way,” Lisa added. “The sentiment of the person who wrote that letter is not reflective of the very positive audience feedback we personally heard after the event as well as emails we received.”
Indeed, a woman who did attend the event claims she enjoyed it and had a wonderful time. “I got invited by @lisawexler and I thought they did a great job! I don’t know why people would take offense to what she said,” twitter user rings33 remarked.
Jill has not commented on the controversy directly, but she did speak to blogger, Ilana Angel to give her perspective about what happened. According to the conversation they had, Jill is “disappointed” by the response circulating around the blogs and feels the event was disorganized from the beginning, which reflected poorly on their presentation.
“Jill was billed as the entertainment, but was not assigned a wrangler and left on her own to meet and great the guests. She was told she was the keynote speaker, yet she did not appear until the end of an event that was running long and already losing guests,” Ilana writes.
An attendee contacted Ilana and said they had a wonderful time and enjoyed Jill’s contribution to the platform. One guest claims the treatment Jill received by the Federation was “mortifying” and was a disservice to the organization.
Apparently, the Dallas chapter has also acknowledged that Jill’s involvement garnered them many new members that evening and helped them raise a significant amount of money, but the Federation has still not issued an apology to Jill or her family for what happened. Jill is a proud member of the Jewish Federation.
Jill will be speaking about her experience at the event on her sister’s radio show this Thursday, if you care to listen! Quite the mess!

It’s hard to believe, looking back, that Jill Zarin and Ramona Singer were ever friends. Well, not friends, per se, but at least frienemies! And after four seasons and one firing, the duo whose relationship rapidly deteriorated into a ‘her or me’ situation at Bravo still can’t stand each other!
Speaking to HollywoodLife, Ramona opens up about her animosity towards a certain former co-star! “Jill and I, it’s really funny because we were better friends before the show aired than now,” Ramona explains. “But you know, we’re still … when I see her, we’re still friendly. But do I spend time with her? No.”
And Ramona is still accusing Jill of talking about her to the media! “She makes up stories just for the press. If she were a different type of person, I would talk about it.”
Ramona still likes one of her former co-workers though – she is still the best of friends with Alex McCord! Am I the only person who just simply doesn’t buy this? “The only person I spend time with is Alex,” Ramona reveals. “I’ve always been friends with [her] on and off camera.”
“When you’re good friends with someone, you’re good friends forever,” Ramona added. “With Alex and I, we did develop a true friendship and I will always be there if she needs me. I know she’ll be there for me.”
“Whenever I pick up the phone with her, it’s just like I saw her yesterday,” she describes. “That’s what true friendship is.” Well, that’s very nice.
Moving on, Jill is still selling shapewear—she’ll be on HSN very soon—and she is still talking Real Housewives of New York! The former reality star, who claims to be in talks with Fox for her own show, says she has no hard feelings towards her still employed former co-stars.
“I will definitely watch next season of the Real Housewives of New York, I am looking forward to it,” Jill insists to RadarOnline. “It is funny how the press misrepresents me sometimes but the truth is that I have absolutely no animosity towards the show, Bravo or any of the girls, I wish them all the best and am sure the show is going to do very well.”
She also reminds us that even girls with hot bodies like Kelly Bensimon and LuAnn de Lesseps wear shapewear. “Countess Luann and Kelly have great bodies and they were fighting over my shape wear, they both wear it, you would be surprised to hear the list of people who wear it!” Those two fighting over shapewear? Now that’s some footage I don’t want to see!

SHOULD RAMONA AND JILL GET OVER THEIR FEUD ALREADY? DO YOU BELIEVE RAMONA AND ALEX HAVE AN AUTHENTIC FRIENDSHIP? IS JILL OVER BEING FIRED OR NOT?
It’s as if one franchise slowly rose up after hearing that other (more blonde and tan) franchises were getting more press. So here we are, back with the Real Housewives of New York, fresh with some new gossip…Zarin style.
After the firing heard ’round the Bravo world, Radaronline.com is reporting that the Queen of Mean Princess of Park Avenue Jill Zarin has been asked to rejoin the cast. The season seems to be taking an exceedingly long time to wrap, leading some to believe that there’s just no excitement with the new ladies. It would make sense that Bravo wanted to bring back the franchise’s resident pot stirrer.
Jill, who claims she was contacted by a show insider, explains that the offer was too little too late. She maintains she was happy to get the boot along with cast mates Alex McCord, Cindy Barshop, and Kelly Bensimon.
Jill insists, “I thought about quitting the show during season 4, because my husband wanted his wife back. I had such anxiety and pressure to act a certain way and I was paranoid for a reason, because people were planning and plotting against me.” Planning and plotting? Sounds like a James Patterson novel, not a trip to Morocco to break up the monotony of Upper East Side luncheons and weekends in Quogue the Hamptons!
“I’m too old and have grown up too much to do Real Housewives anymore, I want to set an example to my kids and my grandkids,” she continues. Not to mention that she doesn’t need RHONY to be in the spotlight…she has a new show for that.
Jill will be returning to the small screen on the Cooking Channel, starring in Iron Chef America’s Top 5 Moments in Kitchen Stadium History. I remember her being quite the Paula Deen of the Housewives…um…And, if you miss her on Iron Chef, you can still catch her on the Home Shopping Networking, hawking her Skweez Couture shapewear line on February 10th.
However, Gossipcop.com is saying that the offer never happened! The site claims to have been told by a true Bravo insider that Mrs. Zarin was never contacted to return to the show. Other media outlets are also reporting Bravo is adamantly denying Jill’s claims. Hmmm…something sounds fishy. Is the source insinuating that Jill Zarin would actually make up a story to get press and remain relevant? I don’t buy it…much like I won’t be buying anything called Skweez. If only there was someone who could shed some light on this confusion. But wait…
After all the hullabaloo, Jill felt the need to take to her personal blog to respond to such preposterous claims. Personal blogs are way classier than twitter, you know. Get the memo, Atlanta! After seeing Radaronline.com’s story, Jill was quick to address the gossip (or is it?) on–where else?–jillzarin.com. Part of that statement, typos and all, is below.
“I have to admit that most of it is….TRUE! Shocking..I know. but…most of the questions I answered a long time ago from and older interview. I was asked but someone I can’t mention..if I would be interested in coming back for a cameo. That is all I will say right now . I won’t say when or by whom..actually , ironically it was more than one person. It is true that Bobby asked me not to come back. Actually that was reported in the NY POST on Page 6 in July 2011. We were overheard at a restaurant talking and he begged me not to go back on the show but to please quit. I NEVER told any one this but…I actually emailed some of the ladies and producers a goodbye letter, wishing them all well and why I wanted to leave while we were still on top. Maybe I will publish the email one day. But then I didn’t quit. I will save that story for another day…”
Somewhere Simon van Kempen is wearing a dashiki and calling Andy Cohen on speed dial wondering why he and his Brooklyn bride were not asked to make cameos. Y’all know I’m right!
Not one to be left out when the “brunettes” are making news, Kelly Bensimon is also making headlines for committing the ultimate in celebrity cardinal sins…dating one of Madonna’s exes. And not just any ex, she’s reportedly seeing the father of Madonna’s tween daughter Lourdes, Carlos Leon. #dontcrossmadgesheisfrightening! The huffingtonpost.com has the deets.
The potential new couple was spotted walking together–gasp!–in the East Village this past weekend. Kelly’s “friends” predict that we will be seeing even more of the twosome in the future.
One such pal reveals, “They started out working on a project together but have since gotten very close. Kelly always says that if you are not married or engaged, you are single. So, technically she is still single, but we all know that they are together.”
While Kelly herself declined to comment on the nature of the relationship, she did admit, “We met seven months ago. I’m casting him for the show I Can Make You Hot. Have you met him? He’s an amazing dancer and athlete and jelly bean connoisseur.”
I’m sure Madonna isn’t batting an eyelash at this news. She’s probably used to it seeing as another of her former flames was linked to former RHONY’s Bethenny Frankel. When the Material Girl split from baseballer Alex Rodriguez in 2009, he reportedly found comfort in the arms of a Skinny Girl. No word yet as to whether Madonna ever dated Ross/Jacques.
Photos of Carlos are below!

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF JILL ZARIN’S INTERVIEW? DO YOU BELIEVE SHE WAS CONTACTED BY BRAVO OR IS SHE JUST TRYING TO GET MORE ATTENTION? IS KELLY DATING CARLOS LEON?
Well they weren’t off our TVs for long! Three of the four fired Real Housewives of New York stars are reportedly moving onto new reality shows. We all knew they wouldn’t go quietly!
Hot on the heals of news that the indomitable Jill Zarin is in talks with Fox to get a new show based around her moving to Beverly Hills, here come the rumblings of other fellow firees seeking the spotlight again.
First up is Silex! Alex McCordand Simon van Kempen circulated an email amongst their friends pitching a new reality show. The crafty NY Post was able to obtain a copy of said email, which basically calls Bravo out for creating “faux reality shows.” You don’t say! Alluding to their experiences on RHONY and referring to their former job as a “trainwreck!” You mean the friendship between Bethenny andAlex wasn’t real!?
“While we were sad to lose the dollars . . . we weren’t sad to be off that particular show,” Alex and Simon’s email reads. “Now that we are free-and-clear of our Bravo contracts, we have been meeting with . . . just about every cable network as well as a couple of the main networks,” in the hopes to interest someone — anybody, really — in a reality show about 30-something parents in Brooklyn. “We would never expose ourselves to another faux reality show,” the email reassured prospective castmates, alluding to the behind the scenes magicians at Bravo!
Despite their unsavory experiences in front of the camera broadcasting their basement office and munster shoes for all the world to see, Silex still craves the spotlight and is hoping to start a new show based upon their fabulous Brooklynite lives of raising kids, hawking towels, Twittering and dishing about being the daughter of an oil barron (remember Alex like grew up super rich in Kansas, ya’all!). Except this time Brooklyn isn’t going to be the laughingstock of said show; this new show is going to prove to Americans that Brooklyn, and it’s inhabitants, are really, really cool. Hey, I like Brooklyn!
The show, which is tentatively titled “Based in Brooklyn,” seeks to shine a light into the culture Silex dubs “Brownstone Brooklyn” a.k.a. yuppies converting the borough into a trendy place to live.
When the Post asked Alex if she would consider selling her new show to Bravo, you know that network that produces faux reality shows, she suddenly got flustered. “I don’t know, I hadn’t, that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t, it’s not just me either if we did this it would be Simon and me together,” Alex confessed.
Next up, Kelly Bensimon was apparently overheard talking about her new reality venture while she judged the Miss New York USA pageant this past week. The New York Daily News eavesdropped on the cray-cray one asking a famous blogger if he would be interested in a guest appearance on her new show.
What new show, you ask? Supposedly Kelly, who is a self-proclaimed expert on hotness, is working on a TV project to coincide with her upcoming book, “I Can Make You Hot!: The Supermodel Diet,” which hits shelves in April. Well, in my mind the first element of hotness is being sane, so I don’t think I could take any of Kelly’s advice seriously!

WOULD YOU WATCH ALEX’S OR KELLY’S NEW SHOWS? ARE YOU SURPRISED THEY ARE RE-SEEKING THE SPOTLIGHT?
Bravo has just released the full season 3 trailer which can be summed up in three words — tears, tears and more tears. In what appears to be a very emotional season (also the longest one yet), Bethenny Frankel is living life in the fast lane and struggles to juggle her many roles which includes wife, mother and mogul.
The trailer also includes scenes from Bethenny’s ‘lost at sea’ saga as well as dramatic fights with hubby Jason Hoppy. You can watch the new BEA trailer below!
Bethenny Ever After returns to Bravo on Feb. 20.
Moving on to Bethenny’s nemesisReal Housewives Of New York alum Jill Zarin: She recently spoke to Celebrity Baby Scoop (disclosure: I used to freelance for them) about Bethenny and the least anticipated jewelry line of our time, her new collection, GLITTERINGS. Curiously, it is not inspired by the cult classic Mariah Carey film Glitter, but by the thousands of dollars of jewelry her husband Bobby Zarin has purchased for her, specifically the massive ring he just bought her from the Elizabeth Taylor estate:
“For the first collection, I drew inspiration from Elizabeth Taylor’s jewelry. My husband is so incredibly supportive in everything I do and when Elizabeth was selling her jewelry, I bought all the catalogues and went and saw it. My husband wanted to buy me a piece to inspire me,” says Jill.
Naturally, the conversation turned to whether or not she missed being on RHONY, the show that brought her wonderful, shrieking presence into our lives and hearts. Jill’s feelings about this seem to change with every interview, occasionally being angry and claiming the show will fail without her, and other times, she seems to look back on it bittersweetly.
This time around, she says she’ll miss the “team” she had with… Kelly Bensimon (huh?): “It’s just the timing and the place, and without Kelly [Bensimon]… we were just such a great team. We had a lot of fun together. I always look forward and I never look back. It was sort of like in high school, they force you to you graduate even if you don’t want to leave. I was forced to graduate, and it turned out to be a blessing.”
When asked if there was a feud with her true former teammate Bethenny, Jill responded in the negative, saying: “There’s no feud. Absolutely no feud. None whatsoever,” and even answering “Absolutely” to a question on moving forward with Bethenny. Do you think anyone has told Bethenny she’s moving forward on a friendship with Jill?
On the skinnygirl side, the media blitz leading to the February premiere of the third (and allegedly final) season of her reality show, Bethenny Ever After has begun! This time around, Bethenny is giving weight-loss tips for all you New Year’s Resolutions holders out there. If your idea of working out is walking to the grocery store, here’s a good tip for you from a recent appearance on Good Morning America:
“I belong to a gym and a yoga class and never go. Do your workout when you have time where you are. I do yoga in my room when Brynn goes down for a nap. Sometimes it’s 30 minutes, sometimes it’s 40 or 50 minutes. I’d rather get 30 minutes in than not go to a class. Do it consistently. Commit to it in your house. People think because I’m in good shape that I must go to the gym all the time. But I don’t have the time. I make it work at home.”
No, Bethenny, we feel you are in good shape because you are a millionaire with access to personal trainers and chefs and because being thin is kinda in your job description. Nothing wrong with that, but doing a yoga video 30 minutes a day isn’t going to make you look like Bethenny. It will just make you a bit happier and healthier.
If you are interested, Jill will be showing off her wares on HSN on Valentine’s Day.

The busiest man in reality television, and our lord and savior, Andy Cohen, has evolved from a behind the scenes player and “that dude who hosted the reunion show” to a full-fledged celeb in his own right, and is poised to become even more well-known now that his quirky talk show Watch What Happens Live is now on a whole five nights a week.
There’s no doubt Andy played a huge role in Bravo’s transformation from obscure basic cable network to one of the nation’s main suppliers of rich people drama and D-listers. While he’ll be putting in much more time on-camera these days that doesn’t mean he’ll be abandoning his role as Executive Producer, telling the Hollywood Reporter that he’ll “remain in charge of all development and talent” (his use of the word talent makes me think of Andy as a Barbizon modeling agent!) and will remain an executive producer of Top Chefand all iterations of Real Housewives.
While he admits that this will remove “twenty something” odd shows from his workload, he is still very involved in a few projects featuring stars Bravo basically created including Jeff LewisandBethenny Frankel: “Jeff Lewis has an incredible new show coming on, Interior Therapy, we’re in post on that show, I can’t imagine stopping watching rough cuts of that show. I’m very invested in it and I want it to be right. I just got two new episodes of Bethenny Frankel’s new show today, I’m seven in already, and I probably want to finish that season out. So, there’s a lot of work that I feel I will probably continue doing.”
Given the success of the shows Andy has had his hand in, we doubt his bosses at Bravo would want him to stop producing shows, either. His influence can definitely be felt in other shows, especially with his crown jewels — Real Housewives and Top Chef; he admits to THR that there are “at least 25 Housewives rip off shows right now.”
Speaking of the Housewives, in a separate interview with Wetpaint, Andy lets Jill Zarinfinally score a point in the ongoing media war that is her existence by giving her credit for finding Bethenny and Ramona Singer onReal Housewives of New York, saying “Jill helped us cast Bethenny and Ramona. She absolutely did.”
Andy, however, makes it clear that he doesn’t believe Jill deserves a commission for that. If you recall, Jill revealed last week that she wanted a finder’s fee for discovering Bethenny. “I don’t get a commission for it,” said Andy. “She’s done very well from the show, so that’s her commission. But she did [help cast them]. She absolutely can take credit for finding Bethenny and Ramona.”
He also stands by his decision to let Jill go, along with her co-stars Alex McCordand Kelly Bensimon, claiming, as Jill has probably said to her daughter hundreds of times, that its for the show’s own good: “And I just think, whether the ratings are down this season or up, for the long-term health of the New York Housewives, we did the right thing.”
TELL US: ARE YOU ENJOYING THE DAILY EDITIONS OF WATCH WHAT HAPPENS? WHAT WOULD YOU SAY ARE THE HOUSEWIVES RIP-OFF SHOWS? DO YOU THINK JILL ZARIN DESERVES COMMISSION FOR FINDING BETHENNY AND RAMONA? IS ANDY COHEN YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR?
