Reality Tea’s Top 7 Reality TV Friendship Divorces!

If there’s one thing we know for certain, it’s that reality TV and BFF-hood don’t mix. Repeat: Do not come on a reality show with your BFFL and expect it to be buddy-buddy 4 eva. It seems the second the cameras start rolling and the editing kicks in – along with the drinks and the contracts stipulating drama, fights, and backstabbing, the individual interviews and the out-famewhoring and jealousy – these long-time friendships melt faster than an ice cube in a toaster.

Friendship divorces have come to dominate reality TV and sadly it was often those friendships that got us hooked on the show in the first place. When a friendship divorce happens, often it leaves the fans as divided as the main characters.

So here’s to the used-to-be friends and their friendship divorces. So sorry it didn’t work out – but sometimes one person’s loss is another’s gain! Big things can come from public relationship break-ups.

Is Bravo Worried As RHONY Ratings Continue To Decline? Plus Kelly Bensimon Responds To Bethenny’s Comments; Claims Their Issues On TV Weren’t “Real!”

Last week Bethenny Frankel addressed her feelings on Real Housewives of New York. The newly minted talk show host admits that she occassionally tunes into the show that made her a household name and that she wishes nothing but the best for former co-star nemesis Kelly Bensimon.

“I wish Jill [Zarin] the best. I wish Kelly the best,” Bethenny told the audience. “Honestly, it was an experience that I’ll never forget and the year with the first five of us is definitely very nostalgic.” A video of Bethenny discussing her time on RHONY is below.

Well, because Kelly is still apparently very concerned about Bethenny and because she really doesn’t have anything else going on wants to keep her name in the press, she is responding to Bethenny’s comment with some niceties of her own.

Jill Zarin Writes Vitriolic Blog About RHONY And Deletes It! Hints That Ramona Singer Is An “Alcoholic;” Begs Fans To Convince Bravo To Re-Hire Her!

Jill Zarin clearly has too much time on her hands – and clearly she has not taken former BFF Bethenny Frankel‘s advice to “Get a hobby!” (Which in case you didn’t know is one of my top reality TV insults of all time!) The former Real Housewives of New York star has repeatedly claimed she is relieved she was fired out of one corner of her mouth, while out of the other corner she advocates her fans let Bravo know they made a mistake in firing her. Clearly she has trouble letting go. So much trouble that she reportedly crashed LuAnn de Lesseps‘ premiere party!

Jill as made it known that she will not watch the show, but I suppose she’s changed her mind - after all she needs something to keep her name in the press as clearly Skweeze Couture isn’t doing it. Following last Monday’s episode featuring the mommy wars between Pinot Singer and Jill’s made-for-TV buddy LuAnn, Jill wrote a scathing blog posted to her website about the show and Ramona.

Among the comments Jill made, she implies that Ramona is an alcoholic ~~which may just be the worst kept secret in reality television~~ and mocked this season’s low ratings as a result of her being fired! Jill has since deleted the blog, citing that she was advised to “sleep on it” in a tweet. Well Reality Tea was able to procure a copy from one of our sleuthy readers!

One of the greatest things about reality TV is scathing, over the top, out of control ridiculous cat fights, arguments, and behind the back insults. It’s what differentiates reality from reality TV. See, I would never call someone a “dumb drag queen” … but in the wilds of reality TV, anything goes!

Countess LuAnn and Ramona Singer Are Still Going At Each Other Via Blogs; Plus a Preview of Tonight’s Episode!

I’m guessing the newcomers on Real Housewives of New York didn’t realize they would be jumping back into last season! With Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon, and Alex McCord out of the picture, it seems like the Count(l)ess LuAnn and Pinot Singer are vying to see who will be the biggest, baddest housewife in all the ~~Upper East Side~~ land. The claws are out, which isn’t surprising given this pair.

On the season premiere, Countless told her new co-stars of Ramoana’s threat regarding her children. The maven of manners also demanded an apology for last season’s drama during a party. I find her public admonishment of ol’ Crazy Eyes a tad hypocritical, given there is, according to LuAnn, a time and a place for everything. For example, you don’t talk about losing a parent over drinks with friends. It’s poor form. However, making others uncomfortable at a party is completely acceptable behavior. In her Bravo blog, she explains it all…and with words we serfs can understand.

Jill Zarin Crashes LuAnn’s RHONY Premiere Party! Plus, Ratings Drop! And The New Ladies Talk Joining The Show!

Real Housewives of New York had a looooong hiatus while it got all its new ducks in a row. Sadly, either people forgot about them and didn’t bother going back or everyone is still sick of the lingering taint of acidic drama. Regardless of why less and less people tuned in, the ratings for the season five premiere were less than stellar. Like so less than stellar Kim Zolciak‘s wig reveal slammed RHONY!

According to The Huffington Post, the season premiere only drew 1.7 million viewers in it’s 9pm slot. Which is unprecedentedly low for a Housewives season premiere. Just for some perspective – Real Housewives of Orange County (previously the lowest rated in the franchise) got over 2 million viewers for it’s season premiere.

Allegedly Bravo isn’t too upset by the ratings. “Bravo didn’t expect the numbers to be huge,” a network insider revealed. “Monday is a new night for the show and it’s the most competitive night of the week.”

Sonja Morgan Calls Out New Housewife Aviva Drescher, Kelly Bensimon Mad At Bravo, & Competing Housewife Premiere Parties!

If you thought the Real Housewives of New York was going to get less dramatic following the firings of Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, and Kelly Bensimon, you’d be wrong. Rather than getting classier, the show is probably going to look a lot more like the menopausal, passive aggressive version of Bad Girls Club. The show premieres in two weeks and already, the ladies are taking shots at each other in the press for truly pointless things like their premiere parties.

Rob Shuter of the Huffington Post, who love him or hate him, does appear to have a direct line into the RHONY world, reports that the upcoming season will be Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan versus the rest of the gang, which isn’t surprising. As far as Countess LuAnn, she remained more opportunistic, as she usually is, and stuck with the new blood, and the anonymous cast member tells Rob “The Countess, who has tried to stay neutral in the past, was forced to choose between the new ladies and her old cast mates … and picked the former.”
