The drama surrounding the Giudice’s legal matters continues to unfold. Joe Giudice was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release. Teresa Giudice landed herself 15 months. During the course of the Giudice’s fraud indictment it emerged that despite living in the US for the majority of his life, and being married to a US citizen, Joe isn’t one himself, and therefore faces deportation after he serves his time.
Joe’s immigration attorney, Jerard Gonzalez, says that proceedings for a possible deportation will not begin until after Joe’s sentence is completed, however experts connected to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) said that officials could decide to expedite proceedings at any time – even while the Real Housewives Of New Jersey star is still behind bars!
“They could come pick him up tomorrow. I doubt they would do that,” says immigration attorney Edward Shulma (who is not connected to Joe’s case).“They want them to do most of the time.”
Dina is ready to move on from the Florida trip too. She kept her blog short and sweet this week, poking fun at Amber Marchesefor her victim complex and asking fans to send positive and warm thoughts to Joe and Teresa Giudice.
Some options include putting filming for season 7 on long hiatus until Teresa returns from prison. “It’s been done before,” an insider explains. “There was a point where `Real Housewives of New York’ was off the air for almost a year.” It’s fair to note however, that when the show return ratings were at an all-time low. Of course with the drama of Teresa re-enacting Orange Is The New Leopard Black, I doubt that will be the case with RHONJ!
Well I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow night! Bravo seems to be cashing in on everything Giudice now that the stars of Real Housewives of New Jersey are heading to the clink. I have to admit, I am still a bit of shock to think of Teresa Giudice serving actual time. Something tells me that Juicy Joe wasn’t surprised to hear his sentence. I feel like he’s been dodging the law for so long, it has to be a bit of relief to get to stop running.
Of course, the Giudices (and the network that introduced them to the world) want to proactively handle the insane publicity that is sure to intensify as we countdown to Tre’s lock-up. Andy Cohen is no dummy. He’s going to milk this for all it’s worth, and he’s already teasing the Giudices’ Monday appearance in the clubhouse on the heels of Teresa canceling her public appearances.
Yesterday Teresa Giudice was sentenced to 15 months in prison, while her husband Joe Giudice received a 41 month sentence for federal fraud charges of bankruptcy fraud, mail fraud, and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. The Judge decided to give the couple staggered sentences allowing one of them to always be at home with their 4 daughters.
Teresa will begin serving her sentence first, on January 5th, 2015, so she will be able to spend the holidays with her daughters. Teresa and Joe owe $414,588 in restitution as a couple and each face two-years of supervised release following prison.
Joe Giudice was just sentenced to 41 months in prison and two years of supervised release. Stay tuned.
Joe and Teresa are receiving their sentences right now and we’ll be updating as the details and news trickles in.
Joe also has to pay more than $400,000 in restitution. Stand by for Teresa’s. Early reports saying they won’t serve at the same time so they can care for the girls. So, my guess is Joe will serve first unless Teresa’s winds up being a short one and she wants to get it over with. We’ll see in a few minutes!
Teresa’s sentencing is going to continue in about 25 minutes.
No sentence yet, but Judge Salas is not happy withJoe and Teresa Giudice for not disclosing everything they should have on financial documents and for turning them in MONTHS late.
According to NewJersey.com the Federal judge is ticked that the Real Housewives of New Jersey couple left several “glaring omissions” on their financial disclosure forms, including recreational vehicles, home furnishings, cars, construction equipment and seven other items. Apparently they were also supposed to have filed these documents in MARCH, but first did it in AUGUST. That is why their hearing was delayed! “I had to put the sentencing off because the financial disclosure wasn’t in,” Salas said.
Happy Sentencing Day! Before receiving their federal fraud sentence, Teresa Giudice and Joe Giudice settled their bankruptcy – finally. But unfortunately the news is not good, the judge denied the bankruptcy discharge which mean the case is closed now, and it’s as if the couple never filed for for bankruptcy at all and must repay their debts the old-fashioned way!
