Last night on Kandi's Wedding it was all out mommy wars! Interestingly, it seems no one in Kandi Burruss' life likes each other. Her Matron of Honor, Tan, and her Maid of Honor, Carmon cannot stand each other, Mama Joyce hates everyone and her new target is Todd Tucker's mother Sharon.
Since everything in Kandi's life is topsy-turvy and it's clear she doesn't use her words to communicate with people, she and Todd visit their pastor for some pre-marital counseling. Todd seems to be taking it seriously, but Kandi initially starts out joking around. Eventually the subject of Joyce comes up and the pastor instructs the couple not to let negative influences destroy their happiness. "Communicate before you disintegrate!"
As Kandi continues to plan her wedding, Carmon and Tan meet with her to test cakes. With all the testiness in the room, Kandi could have been tasting ice cream cake. She ignores it by scarfing down alllll the cake samples and practically licking the plate. I think we call that emotional eating. Basically Carmon thinks Tan is an uptight square who is no fun and Tan thinks Carmon is a flaky boozehound. In the battle of Carmon vs. Tan, I'm team Carmon because who doesn't like fun?
Kandi says since the wedding her relationship with her father has "somewhat" improved – but she blames herself for the distance. "He does try to reach out more. I am the one who needs to do better. I guess I am so used to the way our relationship always has been, so now I don't think to call that often. This is something that I have to work on."
Kandi Burruss tied the knot in April, but it was not without major (and I mean Mama Joyce) drama. Despite the uphill battle the couple faced, Kandi and Todd Tucker are happy, in love, supportive of each other, and eager to grow both their brands and their union.
Speaking to Ebony, Kandi shares her keys to a fulfilling marriage and gives her tips for making it in business. Since their wedding Kandi reveals that she and Todd have been spending most of their time apart due to work commitments.
"I guess we still don’t feel married yet. We went from seeing each other and being together every day to a long-distance relationship—because he’s in L.A. producing his show, Hollywood Divas, for TV One, so we see each other on the weekends. Sometimes we don’t even get to do that."
Kandi adds, "We make it work through a lot of communication, and we try to see each other as often as possible."
Is divorce is in the air over at the Parks-Nida residence or is Apollo Nida just giving his two cents about prenups?
A good friend of Todd Tucker's, Apollo says he offered Todd advice during this week's episode of Kandi's Wedding because he believes Todd and Kandi Burrussare equals and started out an on even playing field where business savvy is concerned.
Apollo says Todd was feeling stressed out about several situations from his issues with Mama Joyce to planning the wedding that left him feeling out of control. As a friend, Apollo advised him to stand up for himself. The prenup was one area Apollo had experience with given that he too is always accused of being after his wife's money.
Kandi Burruss' ideas about planning a wedding in 5 weeks are as crazy as Joyce's ideas about, well, anything – but most specifically Todd Tucker. Last night was illuminating because it seems Mama Joyce gave Kandi's father Titus 'The Todd Treatment' way back when they were married! So let's dive right in – it's juicy, but in the manner of a car crash or Lindsay Lohan wandering around Rodeo Drive sans panties.
Kandi meets her dad for dinner to see if he'd be willing to officiate her ceremony. He is of course in agreement. Kandi reveals that for many years following her parents' divorce Titus, now a pastor, was barely around and she did not see him for years. And it turns out that likely has everything to do with V For Vendetta: The Mama Joyce Modus Operandi.
Kandi Burruss is facing wedding opposition from Mama Joyce, obviously, but is her father Titus prepared to give his daughter away to Todd Tucker?
On tonight's episode of Kandi's Wedding, Kandi asks her father to officiate the wedding but gets caught in more family drama. Plus, Todd is reeling from Mama Joyce's accusations against his parents and Kandi's wedding planning committee deals with Carmon's departure! A preview is below!
Our favorite reality TV stars cannot get enough of the spotlight during their regularly scheduled time slots, so they take to social media to share even more of their daily lives with us. And we love them for it! Here's a roundup of some of our favorite photos from this week! Enjoy!
With the premiere of the Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi's Wedding, earlier this week, we got a front row seat for the planning of Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker'sComing to America-themed wedding. And if you saw any of the last season with our girls from Atlanta, you knew that this spin-off was going to be drama-filled. At the end of the season Kandi's family had yet to approve of Todd — and that is putting it kindly — and Kandi had not started planning her wedding, despite wanting to have it in a couple of months.
Bravotv.com sat down Todd Tucker to get his take on meeting Kandi, his relationship with Mama Joyce and her sisters and Carmon, Kandi's best friend and personal assistant who quit over the wedding in the premiere episode.
