It seems all four American Idol judges will be returning for season 9 after all. According to RadarOnline.com, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi will be returning to the next season of American Idol despite initial rumors surrounding the show.
Since Abdul’s contract was up, there were speculations of her not returning to the show and that Kara may not return since she only signed a one year contract. Having four judges seemed to be problematic for the live show because it slowed down the pacing says Abdul and Cowell.
Timing issues will be addressed on the next season. At the moment, Abdul and Dioguardi are still in negotiations though sources believe the contracts will be finalized in a few weeks. Sources also believe a formal announcement will be made in a few weeks.
In a recent interview with David Letterman, Paula Abdul says she loves her job on American Idol but she is not certain that she will be returning for another season. “I never said [I wasn’t returning]. I just said that I’m not sure,” Abdul said cryptically.
“It’s called, um, ‘negotiating’,” she joked.
Letterman shared his own personal experience dealing with network suits and advised Abdul to be careful. “One time, I tried that, I was coming up to the end of a contract, and I said, ‘I don’t know, maybe I won’t come back,’ and they said, ‘Fine because we’ve got another guy ready to go’,” cracked the 62 year-old late night host.
Abdul was asked about her relationship with co-host Kara DioGuardi. “Kara’s great,” Abdul told Letterman. “I don’t understand why they do this to women; they love to pit women against each other. Maybe because it’s sexier, I don’t know. Maybe mud wrestling, the whole thing.”
Katrina Darrell aka “Bikini girl” thinks Kara DioGuardi made a fool of herself during the surprise performance on the American Idol finale. While Bikini girl was performing on the Idol stage, DioGuardi joined and took over the song. At the end of the performance, it was obvious that Bikini girl had no idea that DioGuardi would be joining her on stage.
If you remember during the Idol auditions, DioGuardi dogged Bikini girl’s performance of Mariah Carey’s “Vision of Love”. A little show down occurred and Kara tried to out sing Bikini girl.
Bikini girl believes that DioGuardi did not succeed in making her look stupid; saying Kara made herself look stupid instead. “I really didn’t think much of the performance, it is live television and anything is possible.”
At the end of the performance, DioGuardi showed off her own two-piece after Ryan Seacrest dared her and promised to make a donation to her favorite charity.
Kris Allen is the new American Idol, though he seemed shocked at the annoucement of his name. Every poll that I viewed indicated that Adam Lambert would be crowned the newest American Idol. Interestingly, they were wrong. Over 100 million people voted last night.
The night was full of entertainment and wonderful performances ranging from the “Black Eyed Peas“, Fergie, Queen Latifah, Lionel Richie, previous AI contestants and so on. I really loved Lil Rounds’ and Queen Latifah’s performance together. The Queen looked great with her new hair do. The Black Eyed Peas with Zebra Man Group also performed “Boom Boom Pow.” Kris Allen and Keith Urban performed “Kiss A Girl.” Allison Iraheta and Cyndi Lauper gave a brilliant performance. AI Judge, Kara DioGuardi also performed with “Bikini girl”
This ends the eight season of American Idoluntil next year. Good luck to Allen as he works on his new projects.
Kara DioGuardi is confirming her time is up as a judge on American Idol after this season. The reason being that Kara only signed on to do one season.
Kara tells TV Guide “I’m only here for one season,” she says. “That’s what we’ve discussed. So we’ll see what happens. Hopefully they’ll keep me on.”
Simon Cowell was also asked on whether or not Kara would be back next season, he said, “I would imagine so, but the only say I have is about Ryan, Randy and Paula. I’ve always made it clear that I wouldn’t like to do the show without them. So that’s all I’m really concerned about.” Interesting comment by Simon, it might be safe to say Kara won’t be coming back next season.

American Idolwill reportedly go back to its usual way of judging the contestants—each judge gives a critique—on Tuesday night’s performance show, according to a set source.
The Fans were very unhappy with last week’s judging process during which the producers opted for “judging in pairs.” Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul would judge one contestant, and Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi would judge the next contestant, and so on. This was done in an attempt to keep from going over its allotted time as it had the week before.
A poll done by Eonline showed that 68.2 percent of the fans voted against voting in pairs, saying they wanted to hear what all four judges had to say about each performance. The fans also voted as to which judge was their least favorite and the results were rather interesting –
Which judge can you do without? Kara DioGuardi, 44.3 percent Paula Abdul, 35.7 percent Randy Jackson, 17.4 percent Simon Cowell, 2.6 percent
Also in a first this week, the judges decided to save Matt Giraud from elimination meaning two contestants will be going home next week.
Who Is Your Least Favorite Judge on American Idol?
Ok Magazine is reporting that the two female judges on American Idol, Kara DioGuardi and Paula Abdul are alledgedly at war with each other. And their tension is all stemming from the fact that they are both in danger of losing their jobs next season.
“The plan to add a fourth person backfired,” an Idol insider told OK! about the troubles that have been mounting since Kara joined the cast at the beginning of this season. “Now the producers are left with a tough decision: Do they go back to the original three-judge format, or leave Kara there?”
Paula had previously taken a snipe at Kara when she talked to OK in January saying, “Kara and I get along great and have known each other for years, but we tried four judges before when we had celebrity guest judges sitting in, and it just doesn’t work.” Kara hit back in a statement: “Paula has a right to her opinions, but I was disappointed by her comments and hurt that she did not address them to me in person.”
Megan Joy was eliminated this week from American Idol after saying she “didn’t care” what Simon thought. Megan recently spoke to E! about being eliminated, her family, and getting a new tattoo –
On Saying She ‘Didn’t Care’: When asked Wednesday night what she thought of Simon’s criticism of her, Megan flippantly said she “didn’t care.” Now, she explains, “I care about the competition. I didn’t want people to misunderstand me not caring. I just didn’t care that Simon didn’t like my song. So, I couldn’t help but be honest.”
On the Kara-Brother Fight: On the commercial break after Kara got heckled by C.J., the judge went up to her heckler and had words with him. “I think she was just kind of like, ‘How dare you? Who do you think you are?’ And then she was like, ‘Who are you?’ He’s like, ‘Her brother.’ And then she was like, ‘Oooh. I see.’ It was kind of funny.”
On Her Most Memorable Night: “The night I was sick. The miracle that I actually got through my song because I was literally was laying on the ground with IVs in me [30 minutes] before.”
On Reuniting With Son Ryder: “I’m gonna hold him for as long as he’ll let me, and I’m going to try not to sob like a lunatic because I’m sure he’ll just be confused and scared. It’s going to be beautiful. I cannot wait.” She adds that she doesn’t get to go home until “hopefully Wednesday” because she has to “wrap things up here” and finish doing press.
On Her Next Tattoo: “I had a lucky ring that I’ve worn the entire time, and I’m going to have that tattooed on my ribs.” (Ouch!)
