Karina Smirnoff

Last night’s elimination episode of Dancing With the Stars continued with Monday’s 80′s theme, and I, for one, could just eat that stuff up with a spoon. Who doesn’t love a show that opens with a Madonna dance montage?

Monday night had the “stars” heading back to the time of roller skating rinks, John Hughes movies, Swatches, and Members Only jackets. On 80′s night, America’s sweetheart Ricki Lake left her top spot on the leader board for middle ground territory. J.R. Martinez took the judges’ high honors, and Carson Kressley found himself on the bottom for the second straight week. Ricki Lake and Derek Hough along with Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who had tied scores, are first up on the chopping block. Ricki is safe for one more week, but Hope is the first sent to the bottom three.

Kelly Clarkson performs the first of two songs. The story of Charm Ladonna, a professional dancer, is highlighted. Charm overcame a life of poverty (her mother sometimes wouldn’t pay the bills so she could afford her daughter’s dance classes), and her senior year of high school she scored a spot as one of Madonna’s back-up dancers. After using that money to put herself through college, Charm now volunteers, teaching dance classes to underprivileged youth. Charm takes to the DWTS stage to dance with Mark Ballas and Derek Hough. I think she’d make a great addition to next season.

Next to perform is The Band Perry who, in my opinion, never disappoints. It’s time for the highest scorers from Monday to be highlighted, and I am still just as surprised as I was yesterday that Rob Kardashian is one of them. J.R., Rob, and David Arquette are the next stars to get their results. J.R. and his partner Karina Smirnoff are safe, as are Rob and Cheryl Burke. David and his partner Kym Johnson are sent to the bottom three. Aww, I thought their routine was a hoot!

Taking the stage one more time is Kelly Clarkson. The show highlights the lowest scoring pairs: Carson Kressley, Nancy Grace, and Chaz Bono…none of them receiving particularly harsh critiques from the judges on Monday. Safe are Chaz and and Nancy, and Carson joins Hope Solo and David Arquette in the bottom three. Sadly, it’s the end of the line for Carson Kressley. While he clearly didn’t have the skills of his counterparts, Carson was always fun and entertaining. Even in elimination, he maintained his positive attitude. I wish I could say the same for Hope Solo…did you see the look on her face for the last few minutes of the show? Who spit in her Cheerios?

DO YOU THINK IT WAS CARSON’S TIME TO GO? WHO DO YOU PREDICT WILL BE VOTED OFF NEXT WEEK?

It was 80s night on Dancing With The Stars and a new front runner emerged on Monday following weeks of leaderboard domination by Ricki Lake!

War veteran J.R. Martinez finally rose to the top last night earning the highest score of the night and praises from the judges! J.R. alongside partner Karina Smirnoff scored an impressive 28 for their sultry sumba. “You are like a shattering sex machine,” said judge Bruno Tonioli, who gave the couple a perfect score of 10. “You had so much fire down below, it was like a volcano!” he added. Carrie Ann Inaba also praised J.R. on his hotness! “Hay papi muy caliente,” she said. “That is the way to dance that samba.”

As for Ricki Lake, she stumbled quite a bit last night for Ricki Lake standards, though she still managed to receive a good score of 24 for her foxtrot. Bruno said it best when he stated: “You can’t be a genius every week.”

Landing at the bottom of the scoreboard for the second week in a row was fashion guru Carson Kressley who may or may not have to worry about what to wear next week on the show!  Carson earned a poor 19 out of 30 points with Bruno calling the jive routine from he and partner Anna Trebunskaya a “crowning achievement in madness.” Ouch!

The full scores from last night are below -

J.R. Martinez & Karina Smirnoff: 28
Rob Kardashian & Cheryl Burke: 25
David Arquette & Kym Johnson: 25
Ricki Lake & Derek Hough: 24
Hope Solo & Maks Chmerkovskiy: 24
Nancy Grace & Tristan MacManus: 22
Chaz Bono & Lacey Schwimmer: 21
Carson Kressley & Anna Trebunskaya: 19

The results show airs tonight on ABC at 9/8c during which another star will be sent packing.

TELL US – WHO SHOULD GET THE BOOT? IS IT CARSON’S TIME TO GO?

Movie score night proved to be an exciting evening for Dancing With the Stars, with Cher in the audience supporting Chaz Bono and Ricki Lake and Derek Hough scoring the highest score of the season thus far (with two 10s!).

However, last night’s elimination was just as exciting for me. Why? First of all, the “celebrities” watching in the ballroom got to put in their two cents on the performances. Hello Pee-Wee Herman! Greetings Donny Osmond! Great to see you Steve Sanders Ian Ziering! And of course Courteney Cox Arquette and Kris and Bruce Jenner Kardashian have their say. It’s like the who’s who of has-beens (not you, Courteney…I hope).

Susan Boyle performed Unchained Melody “the song from Ghost” according to Brooke Burke Charvet, but I think the Everly Brothers claimed it first. Ricki Lake is the first celebrity deemed safe, followed by my man J.R. Martinez. Rob Kardashian isn’t so lucky…he’s potentially on the chopping block.

Julianne Hough also returned “home” to the DWTS stage where she got her start to perform a routine with her co-star from the movie Footloose. They are accompanied by the musical stylings of Blake Shelton singing the iconic Kenny Loggins’ song. Girlfriend is a talented dancer…let’s hope she’s half as good an actress because this DWTS is just one long advertisement for her remake.

The next three pairs are showcased. Viewers relive Chynna Phillips‘ choreography black-out, Carson Kressley’s pirate booty dance, and the routine that the judges called Chaz Bono’s best to date. Chaz and last night’s lowest scoring Carson are safe, with Chynna joining Rob in the bottom three.

The siblings Hough perform the twist together before the fate of the remaining three couples is revealed. Hope Solo and David Arquette are safe, but Nancy Grace must boogie her way to the to the bottom. The bottom three are solidified with Rob owning three more points than Chynna or Nancy.

Nancy Grace is the first saved of the the three, and Chynna Phillips, the front runner at the season’s opener, is eliminated. Rob Kardashian can breath another sigh of relief…he’ll be around for next week’s 80′s themed dancing.

DO YOU THINK CHYNNA SHOULD HAVE BEEN VOTED OFF THE SHOW? WHAT DID YOU THINK OF JULIANNE’S RETURN? WHO DO YOU THINK WILL BE THE NEXT TO GO?

The official cast photos of Dancing With The Stars season 13 have now been released!

Above is the first glimpse of Chaz Bono, the first transgendered contestant on the show, in his dancing costume alongside partner Lacey Schwimmer. As we reported, the casting of Chaz, 42, has proven to be a rather controversial one for ABC with some fans voicing their disapproval.

Below are more photos of the remaining “stars” which includes David Arquette, Nancy Grace, Kristin Cavallari, Carson Kressley and their dancing partners!

In other DWTS news, TMZ is reporting today that Rob Kardashian has been slacking off when it comes to practicing his dance moves. Rob’s partner Cheryl Burke is reportedly “fed up” with him as he refuses to practice for more than 2 hours with her. Other contestants are putting in over 5 hours a day.

Cheryl now feels this shows Rob’s lack of interest in doing the show. And while he’s busy not practicing, Rob is reportedly bragging to his older sister Kimmie Kardashian that he will top her DWTS performance by making it past week 3. Good luck with that one Robbie!

Dancing With The Stars returns to ABC on Sep. 19 at 8/7c.

DWTS 13 Cast

ABC has officially revealed the Dancing With The Stars season 13 pairings!

The revelation was made this morning on Good Morning America. One of the biggest surprises is the addition of Val Chmerkovskiy to the cast! Val is the younger brother of DWTS hotness Maksim Chmerkovskiy. And despite the speculation that we might be getting the first same-sex couple this season, openly gay style guru Carson Kressley is paired up with a female partner.

Returning this season is three-time champ Derek Hough after taking a break last season. Derek is paired up with Ricki Lake.

Below are the full pairings for DWTS Season 13 -

  • Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus
  • Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
  • David Arquette and Kym Johnson
  • Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas
  • Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke
  • Elisabetta Canalis and Val Chmerkovskiy
  • Ron Artest and Peta Murgatroyd
  • RJ Martinez and Karina Smirnoff
  • Ricki Lake and Derek Hough
  • Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer
  • Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya
  • Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani

Meanwhile this season’s Kate Gosselin Nancy Grace, who is arguably the biggest casting surprise this year, is speaking out on doing the show.

In a new interview, Nancy reveals she thought she was dreaming when she got the call from DWTS. “I feel like Cinderella that got invited to the ball. I don’t know how to dance,” Nancy, 51, states. “I don’t know what I’m going to wear, but I know I have been invited.”

Nancy adds, “I want to have fun. Ever since my fiance was killed in ’79, my whole life has been about putting bad guys away, going to law school, making law review, trying cases, representing crime victims – and this is such a departure, to get to dress up in crazy outfits and dance. Are you kidding me?!” Nancy also states she is NOT counting on Casey Anthony’s vote!

The new season of DWTS premieres Sep. 19 on ABC.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE PAIRINGS? WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE TO WIN IT ALL?

Dancing With The Stars pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Cheryl Burke were caught red handed making out during the Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas!

Above is a photo of the two dancers kissing at the Moon nightclub at the Palms on Saturday. At first the photos (which have since been removed from the club’s website) flew under the radar as the kissing was actually taking place in the background of a pic.

However twitter user @DWTS_Gossip noticed the action going on in the background of some of the pics. In other pics posted below, hotness Maksim can be seen holding Cheryl close while grabbing her hair.

Fast forward to today and Maksim and his reps are in damage control mode, denying he and Cheryl were kissing. According to the rep, Maksim “was merely whispering in a fan’s ear in a loud nightclub.” Albeit a fan who happened to be wearing the same exact dress as Cheryl with the same exact hair style.

But there is good reason for the damage control. Why you ask? Well Maksim is currently starring on the Ukraine version of The Bachelor (oddly enough the finale episode airs tonight in the country) and is under a strict contract which forbids him from, you know, making out in public with women who are not his finalists on the show.

This would be equivalent to Brad Womack getting photographed making out with a random woman the same week his final pick episode was scheduled to air on ABC. Fans of the show are said to be upset.

As for Maksim and Cheryl, the two have been romantically linked in the past as they reportedly briefly dated a few years back. The two deny there is any romance going on today so perhaps it was just an alcohol fueled make-out session. In the past, Maksim was previously engaged to DWTS pro Karina Smirnoff while Cheryl admitted earlier this year that she did have a fling with her former dance partner Chad Ochocinco.

After being saved by fans last week despite coming in last on the scoreboard, Ralph Macchio’s luck ran out Tuesday night as he was voted off Dancing With The Stars.

Joining Ralph, 49, in the bottom two was Kirstie Alley who was then declared safe. “I will never forget how the fans have driven us through every week,” said the Karate Kid actor following his elimination. “It inspired me. I would run here every Monday for us to present what we worked on.”

Ralph then went on to thank his pro partner Karina Smirnoff. “Karina, you have inspired me in so many ways with your heart, your talent, your class, your integrity as an artist, and even more so as a human being,” he said. “I am proud to have been your dance partner and even more proud to be your friend.”

With Ralph’s elimination, Chelsea Kane, Kirstie, and Hines Ward move on to next week’s finals on Monday! This season’s winner will then be crowned on Tuesday.

TELL US – WHO ARE YOU ROOTING FOR TO WIN?

Monday night on Dancing With The Stars brought us the semi-finals competition. The four remaining contestants had to perform two new dances in addition to a winner-takes-all cha-cha for 15 bonus points.

Following a pretty scary neck injury days ago, pro dancer Kym Johnson and her partner Hines Ward managed to give two perfect performances.

During rehearsals late last week, Kym took a nasty fall and landed on her head. She was rushed to the hospital before doctors ultimately cleared her to practice with the help of a neck brace. This all makes Kym’s feat on Monday night all the more impressive as she and Hines earned a perfect score for their first dance of the night – the Argentine tango. “It was like something from the Kama Sutra,” said judge Len Goodman. “That is a tango!” The duo also earned another 30 for their salsa.

Leading the leaderboard last night, thanks to their bonus 15 points from the cha-cha dance contest, Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas also received a perfect score of 30 for their sexy rumba! Add in the 28 points they received for their earlier tango, and the pair scored a total of 73 points for the night. It’s safe to assume Chelsea and Mark will not be getting the boot tonight.

Falling to the bottom for the second week in a row was Ralph Macchio and pro partner Karina Smirnoff. It is however a comment by judge Bruno Tonioli that is making headlines today. See following their sexy salsa performance, Bruno made a racy remark in reference to Karina when he stated Ralph was “too rough” with his p–sy. He later clarified he was referring to Karina’s pussycat costume. This led to some boos from the audience.

Karina spoke to UsWeekly after the live show, stating she felt “dirty” following Bruno’s critique. “Today was just inappropriate and rude and uncalled for,” she said, adding that Bruno “wouldn’t make eye contact” with her after the incident.

Below are the full scores from last night -

Chelsea & Mark: 73 (28, 30, 15)
Hines & Kym: 60 (30, 30)
Kirstie & Maksim: 54 (27, 27)
Ralph & Karina: 48 (25, 23)
