Love & Hip Hop Atlanta: Breaking Up Is Hard To Do…Unless You Have Asthma

Last night’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta was every bit the scripted guilty pleasure that it always is.

Joseline and Erica meet to discuss their fight. Joseline apologizes for accusing Erica of sleeping with Stevie J. Erica refuses to accept said apology and goes off on how she doesn’t like Joseline. For once–and I am shocked to type this–Joseline is the bigger person and walks away from the conversation when she realizes there is no changing Erica’s mind.

Mimi Faust is packing up Stevie J’s belongings. While she loves him, she just can’t stay with a man who is unfaithful. I’m pretty sure she isn’t just learning this, but whatevs. Ariane comes over to check on her friend, and she’s shocked that Mimi is actually biting the bullet. Mimi reveals that she’s still very sad, and she would love for their relationship to work. Basically, Mimi’s bottom line is Stevie is welcome back if he stops screwing with Joseline. Clearly she doesn’t really care if he’s faithful, she just doesn’t want him to be unfaithful with the likes of Joseline. Baby steps, I guess.

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Recap: Mimi Maybe Gains Some Sense…Maybe

Oh gracious. Last night’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta was just as crazy as usual with the fighting, and the name-calling, and the fake, scripted situations.

K. Michelle heads over to Ariane’s apartment to have drinks with Ariane and Mimi Faust. Mimi reveals that she’s met with Joseline who confessed she was pregnant with Stevie J‘s baby. She is crying and angry, especially at the fact that when Stevie met up with the pair he had Joseline’s pregnancy test in his pocket. She wants to move forward with her life. Mimi is sick of Stevie saying one thing to her and then doing another. K. Michelle, and of course Ariane, think she’s finally gaining some sense when it comes to her deadbeat boyfriend.

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Recap: Politically Hood Correct

Last night’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta was everything you hoped it would be…if you hoped it would scripted and ridiculous.

We rejoin Joseline and Stevie J hashing out baby-gate. He thinks there is no way the baby can be his…it would be bigger. Oh please. Joseline threatens to take him for half of what he has, to which Stevie grabs his crotch and tell her she can have half of it. Otherwise, she can go back to where he found her. Wow. I am surprised more women aren’t falling over themselves to have a chance with this winner.

K. Michelle is working with producer B. Cox to do a showcase to introduce her to local record labels. She admits to going slightly crazy at Jive, so B. Cox tells her she needs to be shaking hands and kissing babies…not screaming in the lobby of labels.

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Recap: Oh Baby!

Last night’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta may have been more ridiculous than the premiere…if that is even possible.

After last week’s drama, Mimi Faust is recapping her feelings about K. Michelle’s birthday party with her good friend Ariane. Ariane tries to talk some sense into her friend, but Mimi is just upset because Stevie tells her that she is his world. Um, well, someone else was his world last night! Ariane questions Mimi’s next step, but Mimi just can’t make such a big decision right now. Gracious.

Rasheeda talks about her family with Kirk Frost. After working with some major labels, she is much happier being a part of an independent label with her husband as her manager. Together, they try to figure out her next single. Kirk knows that she has the talent to go far, even if he’s more her sucker than her husband or business partner. He wants the pair to be able to balance work and marriage. Kirk is tired of having Rasheeda bring work issues into the bedroom.

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Recap: Lather, Rinse, Move Franchise to Atlanta, Repeat

The rule of thumb for VH1? If a show brings the brawls and the drama, by all means give it a spin-off! The most recent phenomenon is Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. After a very glossy introduction, it seems more like I’m watching night time soap (which, let’s call a spade a spade…) than a reality show. The series promises a lot of skin, a lot of crying, and, of course, a lot of drama. This isn’t Bravo’s Atlanta, that’s for sure, although I’d love to see a Phaedra Parks crossover since she’s friends with Rasheeda. Make it happen, Apollo!

We meet Mimi Faust and her boyfriend of fifteen plus years, Grammy winning record producer Stevie J. They have a two-year-old daughter together, and Mimi is more than ready for her beau to step up to the plate. Mimi is done turning a blind eye to his after-hour antics. After over fifteen years, I’d say he’s probably used to getting his own way. Stevie surprises Mimi with a beautiful home way outside of Atlanta for her and their daughter. Basically, he wants to move her far away so he can “do him” in the ATL. She wishes that he wanted the house to be for the three of them, and he seems to think she is being ungrateful. So, I’m guessing we’re going to watch yet another season of women who complain that the men in their lives are dirty dogs, yet they do nothing to change their situation. Glad I tuned in!

With Love & Hip Hop original sauce having all sorts of casting drama, Vh1 is hoping to distract us with a new flavor of crazy: Love & Hip Hop Atlanta! Atlanta is considered the new frontier in entertainment and the rappers will be getting their hustle on southern style! The competition will be fierce professionally and personally as the boundaries cross in a dramatic way.

This season the drama will center around Stevie J, “a three-time Grammy Award-Winning producer who has worked with artists such as Diddy, Jay-Z and Mariah Carey,” according to Vh1.

“Stevie’s longtime girlfriend Mimi Faust, and a fiery up-and-coming Latina rapper named Joseline. here’s no shortage of drama with this strong-willed trio. Also featured are Lil Scrappy, best known for his 2006 smash hit, “Money in the Bank,” his girlfriend Erica Dixon, and his mother, a former hustler known as ‘Momma Dee.’”

“The hometown hero, Atlanta rapper Rasheeda, is still searching for that big hit after years in the hip hop game, but she’s constantly at odds with her manager Kirk Frost — who also happens to be her husband. Rounding out the cast are the talented songbird K Michelle, and Trinidadian R&B singer Karlie Redd.”

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta premieres June 18th at 8pmEST on VH1.
