Kate Plus 8 Ratings

Ding dong the witch is dead Kate Gosselin’s reality TV career is officially over!

Just moments ago, the TLC network announced it has canceled Kate’s reality show Kate Plus 8.

“TLC has decided not to renew another season of Kate Plus 8,” the network said in a statement. “By the end of this season Kate Plus 8 will have hit the 150 episode mark (including Jon & Kate Plus 8); an exceptional milestone. TLC hopes to check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future.”

The cancellation of Kate’s show comes as no surprise as we reported back in April that ratings for the show were at their lowest in years. At that time, new episodes of Kate Plus 8 were averaging just over 874,000 viewers per episode.

Earlier this year, a report came out stating – “If her ratings drop to the 1 million mark this will be her last season, and then Kate would have to get a real job.”

Well folks, it now appears Kate, 36, will indeed have to get a real J.O.B to care for her plus eight.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON KATE’S SHOW BEING CANCELED? WHAT DO YOU THINK SHE’S GOING TO DO NOW?

No more Kate Gosselin on your televisions? Yes, that is now a very strong possibility today thanks to the very low ratings of her TLC reality show.

If you recall, it was reported earlier this month that Kate’s show Kate Plus 8 would be cancelled by TLC if the ratings continued to take a dive. “If her ratings drop to the 1 million mark this will be her last season, and then Kate would have to get a real job,” said a TV producer to Popeater right before the season premiere.

And all seemed to be well as the premiere ratings of the show’s new season brought in 1.3 million viewers. Well, fast forward to today and the ratings have taken a sharp dive, as in fallen well below the 1 million mark.

The April 18th episode of Kate Plus 8 only managed to bring in a mere 874,000 viewers according to TVByTheNumbers. And folks, it was an all new episode and not a rerun. Shocking when you compare those numbers to the staggering 10 million viewers that tuned in for the episode in which Jon and Kate formally announced their divorce less than 2 years ago. Even more shocking when you consider the tremendous promotion Kate did to promote the show including an appearance on the Today Show.

And the week before, the show only managed to bring in 1.214 million viewers. The ratings for this week’s episode have yet to come out but it’s safe to say Kate is in serious danger of – gasp – having to get a real J-O-B.

The same report from earlier this month stated Kate was scared to get a real job and was going all out for the current season. With only 874,000 viewers, it might be a good time for Kate to spring out that old nursing degree.

TELL US – ARE YOUR SHOCKED AT THE LOW RATINGS? IS KATE’S REALITY CAREER OVER A LA JON?

With the ratings of her TLC show continuing to decline, a new report states Kate Gosselin is worried about having to get a real job.

According to Popeater, Kate, 36, is going all out for the new season of her show in hopes that it will be a big success. “This season Kate has been told to bring her A-game,” a TV producer tells Popeater. “If her ratings drop to the 1 million mark this will be her last season, and then Kate would have to get a real job.”

Ratings for Kate Plus 8, her TLC show following her divorce from Jon Gosselin, has steadily averaged 1.6 million viewers per episode. A far cry from the staggering 10 million viewers that tuned in for the episode in which Jon and Kate formally announced their divorce.

“You are going to see Kate spend another night camping, but this time without Sarah Palin. You will see her explore Sydney, meet with aboriginals and even swim with sharks in an attempt to win back viewers,” adds the source.

Another source assures Popeater that TLC is still Team Kate. “TLC hadn’t really done ‘Kate Plus 8′ in a series way until now — it was just sporadic specials that people had trouble finding,” the source says. “TLC does believe in her.”

However, it seems Kate does have reason to be worried as the Monday night premiere episode of Kate Plus 8 only brought in 1.3 million viewers.

In other Kate news, TMZ is reporting that Kate is being sued after failing to pay $10,476 for marriage counseling services back in 2009.

Despite getting her divorce from Jon finalized in December 2009, it seems Kate had previously requested that one of the Pennsylvania-based counselors of Creative Energy Options company “fly to Los Angeles to perform marriage counseling, then refused to pay for service or travel fees.”

The company’s president, Dr. Sylvia Lafair, told TMZ they had reached out to Kate several times, but that she has yet to make any payments.
