“I didn’t know she was staying or leaving,” Bensimon told UsWeekly on Tuesday. “Congratulations? I wish you well?” stated Kelly when asked what she would like to tell her former co-star.
And when it comes to Kelly’s return to the show, the 42-year-old mother of two tells Us magazine, “I was just asked to come back and we haven’t negotiated everything yet.” Adding, “But I can answer honestly I would either come back or I wouldn’t come back — we don’t do part-time.”
Seems Kelly was taking a shot at Bethenny, who will reportedly make guest appearances on the show next season. Must say, you gotta love when these fame loving Bravolebrities pretend to be contemplating returning to the show.
“Last season was scary and painful,” she tells the magazine about the reason she rejected Bravo’s offers to return for season 4, which is scheduled to begin filming on Sept. 20. “It took all of the joy out of it.”
This decision by Bethenny doesn’t exactly come as a shocker as she has another hit show on Bravo,Bethenny Getting Married, a show that doesn’t require her to try to decode the incoherent ramblings of NYC co-star Kelly Bensimon.
Bethenny, who welcomed daughter Bryn Hoppy in May with husband Jason Hoppy tells UsWeekly she doesn’t “see any reason to go back.”
Despite Bethenny quitting the show, viewers can still expect to see her when the 4th season of the NYC Housewives returns. Why? Well a Bravo insider tells UsWeekly that Bethenny is still contractually bound to make a few appearances on RHONY next season, though Bravo is still hoping that she’ll return full-time.
Could money have played a part in Bethenny’s decision? Hollyscoop reported just last week that Bethenny was in negotiations to return to the show. Either way, I can’t say I blame Bethenny. I’m not certain Bravo could pay me enough money to go on vacation with the nutty Kelly and mean girl Jill. I think this will definitely impact the show though. Bethenny not appearing on RHONY would be equivalent to Nene Leakes leaving the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
TELL US – WILL YOU STILL WATCH RHONY WITHOUT BETHENNY? DID BETHENNY MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION?
The NYPost is reporting that ladies are banding together, refusing to sign a new contract with the network unless they get more money. Jersey Shore money to be exact.
See, the Post states the ladies are earning a mere $4,000 per episode for their show, while MTV reality star Snookiearns $30,000 per episode on the Jersey Shore hit show.
They’ve got a lot more to say,” Jill Zarin a source close to the Housewives tells the Post, adding that the ladies “have little choice but to pimp themselves out with side gigs to bump up their earnings.”
“It’s a full-time job without the full-time pay,” a second source says. “That’s why a reality star with any sense does a book line or jewelry line to support being on the show.”
Well let’s examine things to see if the NYC ladies really deserve more money. The show averaged 2 million viewers per episode last season, while the Jersey Shore’s current season is averaging 5 million viewers. So simple calculation shows that solely based on the ratings, the ladies should be earning at least $12,000 per episode. Oddly enough, the Jersey Shore cast and the Real Housewives of NYC cast have about the same number of cast members.
Also, it is likely that Bethenny Frankel is not involved in this negotiation process with the other housewives. With the success of her spin off show, there’s a good chance her negotiations is being done solo and she will likely earn more money than her co-stars if and when she returns to the show. For example, TMZ reported Jersey Shore’sThe Situation is earning $60,00o per episode on the show, way more than all of his other co-stars.
TELL US – DO YOU THINK THE LADIES DESERVE MORE MONEY FROM BRAVO?
The Hollyscoop blog reports today that sources close to Bethenny say “she’s been asked to return for the new season and negotiations are ongoing.”
The site also confirms that all of Bethenny’s co-stars including the crazy controversial Kelly Bensimon have been asked back. Bethenny is currently filming a second season of her hit show – Bethenny Getting Married.
In other news, the always entertaining Kelly Bensimon continues to do interviews. Why exactly? We’re not sure, but the interviews continue to be entertaining.
In her latest incoherent ramblinginterview with Fancast, Kelly defends her fellow crazy NJ Housewife Danielle Staub and rambles about some other things. The best part of the interview might be Kelly claiming her imaginary friends tell her she’s the sanest one on the show.
Excerpts from Kelly’s interview below –
Do you care how other people perceive you? No. Why should I?
So if someone calls you crazy, do you just dismiss it? Yes. It doesn’t faze me in the least. After [the Virgin Islands episode], people were like, ‘Wow. That was really hard to watch.’ And I said, ‘Why? That’s television. What’s so hard about watching that? Because I was crying and saying leave me alone and stop berating me and attacking me?’ In normal situations, you would excuse yourself from the drama. But in normal circumstances, I wouldn’t have even been there in the first place. I would never choose to put myself in that kind of environment. I would never go on vacation with people that I wasn’t friends with or didn’t trust.
What did your close friends say when they saw that episode? They said ‘good for you.’ And they’re glad I stuck up for myself and let the other girls know it’s inappropriate behavior. My friends were laughing all over the place. They know its white noise. It’s non-coherent subject matter. It doesn’t make sense at all. Everyone’s like, ‘Kelly, you’re the only sane person on the show.’ My friends think I’m doing a great job.
What do you think of Danielle? If Danielle gets her own spinoff, I think that’d be amazing for her. She makes for great TV. She’s out of the box and has no inhibitions. It’s not my place to say whether someone has issues or not. I will say she has a lot of fun with what she’s doing. I don’t know what her real life is like, but I honestly don’t think that she’s well matched against the rest of that cast for that show. Still, she definitely is fun to watch. I love seeing her. She has no limitations and that’s great.
Also wanted to add that there will be no photo post today. Thinking the photo posts should be kept to once a week on Saturdays, but would like to get your input. Please take the poll below when you can. Thanks!
The NYDailyNews is reporting today that Bravo has asked back all of the ladies of last season with the exception of one. Who wasn’t asked back? Bethenny Frankel, who has been very vocal about not wanting to return to the show.
It seems Bravo is pleased and content with the success of Bethenny’s spin off show – Bethenny Getting Married, as she is currently filming a second season.
Now on to the shocker, which is the return of Kelly Bensimon, who famously had a mental breakdown last season, and has bashed the network for false editing and forcing her to go on the St. John trip. Even Bravo’s VP of programming, Andy Cohen, recently referred to Kelly’s breakdown as “deeply disturbing” in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine. But oh well, who cares! Evidently, crazy sells!
First up is Danielle of the Real Housewives of New Jersey. “Don’t hate on each other so much,” advises Danielle. “It gets ugly, and it doesn’t make anybody look bad but yourself. And if you’re going to attack one person, believe me, you’re going to make them rise to the top. [points to herself] Hello.”
Keeping bankrupt cast-mate Teresa Giudice in mind, Danielle doesn’t miss a chance to to take a shot at her rival, advising the DC ladies to live within their means. “If you have it, don’t flaunt it, because it will come back to bite you,” she says. “Be humble. Be grateful for the opportunities you have. Try to teach your children that hard work is definitely something that will become lucrative to you in the end, and you do have to always remember where you came from.”
Next up is Kelly of the Real Housewives of NYC who begins by stating she won’t tune into the D.C. show, because it’s “not my game.”
Kelly however believes being on the Bravo hit show is a good thing regardless of the many downsides, you know such as the world questioning your mental health. “So what if someone calls you a name?” Kelly says. “Haters are part of the ecosystem. Have fun with it. I’m having so much fun with it, and I’m able to be charitable on top of it. And my kids love it. It’s a win-win. I don’t see anything wrong with it.”
She continues her crazy rambling, “Now I get to put my money where my mouth is, and actually go out there and be in the trenches and be part of what’s going on and be charitable, which is important. A lot of people are skinny cats and they’re like ‘yah, I’m so cool for school, I can’t go to a party because somebody’s going to recognize me.’ I’m like ‘how about taking the hat off, smiling, putting your name out there, giving the stamp of approval on whatever charity it is, and helping them so we can make people better.”
“I’m not dating yet. I’m still just taking time for me,” the former Bachelor star told PEOPLE at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in Chicago. “I’m definitely doing some ‘me time’ right now.”
And when asked about the current season of the Bachelorette featuring his ex Ali Fedotowsky, Jake had the following to say: “I feel like I know Ali [Fedotowsky] pretty well,” he said. “I think any decision she makes is going to be the right one for her. She could go either way.”
And despite has nasty split with Vienna, Jake has no regrets with doing the show. You grow up so much during that show,” he added. “You’re not the same person when you start that you are when you finish. It’s an incredible experience.”
