Hot on the heels of Kim Kardashian filing for divorce after a mere 72 days of marriage, the Kardashian family is desperately trying to save face after fans and media outlets expressed outrage following Kim’s multi-million dollar televised wedding and quickie marriage to Kris Humphries! Good thing nobody changed their name!
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star made her first public appearance since the divorce filing (above) with sister Khloe Kardashian promoting their new handbag collection in Sydney, Australia today. Below, more photos of Kim and her well perfected, definitely not practiced at all, sad pouty face!
Meanwhile, she posted a special and heartfelt (ha!) “A Message To My Fans” all three of you: Kourtney, Khloe, and Kris J on her personal webpage describing why she chose to file for divorce without ever even residing in the same home as her husband. Apparently Kim, 31, got caught up in the excitement of a wedding and the idea of love without, you know, caring about who she married or the actual marriage.
”I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I rushed in to something too soon,” she confesses. “I believed in love and the dream of what I wanted so badly. I felt like I was on a fast roller coaster and couldn’t get off when now I know I probably should have.” When diamonds, custom made designer dresses and dollar signs are dangled in front of you, perhaps it is hard to take a step back and re-evaluate.
“I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn’t know how to and didn’t want to disappoint a lot of people,” Kim admits. “I never had the intention of hurting anybody and I accept full responsibility for my actions and decisions, and for taking everyone on this journey with me. It just didn’t turn out to be the fairy tale I had so badly hoped for.” I would kinda feel bad for her, except I don’t!
Kim is also furious that people would accuse her of marrying for all the wrong reasons! “First and foremost, I married for love,” she insists. “I can’t believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show!” Right…
“I share so much of my life on a reality show, that contemplating whether to even film my wedding was a tough decision to make, and maybe it turned out to not be the smartest decision. But it’s who I am!”
“We filmed Kourtney giving birth, Khloe getting married, break ups, make ups, our best moments and our worst moments. These were all real moments. That’s what makes us who we are. We share, we give, we love and we are open!” Kim declares, claiming that part of being a Kardashian is famewhoring having a camera on you 24/7!
As for those pesky rumors that she banked upwards of $17M from the nuptials, Kim is adamantly disputing those claims! “These reports are simply not true and it makes me so sad to have to even clarify this,” Kim states.
Since she can’t keep the gifts when the marriage didn’t even last six months, Kim is now claiming that she will be donating all “the money for all the gifts” to the Dream Foundation, a charity that helps dreams come true for those living with life threatening illness. A report by TMZ states she is planning to donate $200,000 (the estimated sum of all the gifts she received) to the charity.
Pimpmomma Kris Jenner is also speaking out defending Kim’s actions and insisting nary a cent was earned on the made for TV wedding. Appearing on the radio show Johnjay and Rich, Kris claims Kimmie Kakes had to make the “very difficult decision” to end her marriage “on her own.” Clearly, since Kris H found out through the tabloids!
“[Kim's] not the first person in the world to get a divorce or have something like this happen to, and she won’t be the last,” Kris argued. “She just happens to be a very public person with a couple of television shows on the air so it makes it bigger than life.”
“She didn’t make a dime off of this wedding,” Kris claimed. “She actually spent millions of dollars on this wedding, so it’s not something that she thought would ever not be happily ever after.” Funny… I don’t believe either of you!
“People just have to stop judging,” Kris admonished. “Take a step back. Let Kim do what she needs to do and just be supportive. It’s not easy.” I think the best way to avoid judgment is to get out of the public eye!
While Kris is home trying to pick up the pieces of his broken life — Kim jetted off to Australia, following a massage, to do more promotion for whatever krap she is hawking now. More photos below of Kim, sister Khloe and her brother-in-law Lamar Odom!
According to a poll by TMZ, over 95% of the public do NOT believe Kris’ claims that Kim did not make a dime off her wedding. And can you blame them? After all they got paid for the following according to a report by the NY POST -
- $15 million plus profit for four-hour, two-part wedding special on E!
- $2.5 million for exclusive photos with People magazine
- $300,000 for exclusive engagement announcement with People
- $100,000 for exclusive rights to bridal shower with Britain’s OK! mag
- $50,000 to have Bachelorette party at Tao in Las Vegas
Kris went on The Today Show this morning and further expanded on the claims that Kim did not make a dime off the wedding. According to Kris, while Kimmie received over a million from the sale of the wedding pics and from E!, all the money went into her wedding and she apparently had to use some of her own money to finish paying for the lavish wedding. Not.Buying.It.
Another fun tidbit, Kathie Lee Gifford, who has been a close family friend of the Kardashians for decades, revealed on The Today Show yesterday that she suspected something was off with the couple as they barely interacted during their August wedding rehearsal dinner. “I never saw them together the entire night,” said Kathie.
Even more interesting? At the wedding reception Khloe whispered to Kathie Lee: “I give it six f ***ing months.”

Kim Kardashian “Numb” and “Surprised” Over Divorce Backlash, Cancels Appearances, Kris Jenner Says She’ll Keep $2 Mil Ring
Days after she filed for divorce following two months of marriage, a new report now states Kim Kardashian is truly in shock over the public and very well deserved backlash she is receiving!
And why wouldn’t there be a public backlash? After all, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star pocketed a reported $17 million from her extravagant sham wedding!
A source close to Kimmie tells RadarOnline, “Kim is absolutely numb and was truly surprised and shocked at the backlash she has gotten since she decided to file for divorce.”
In fact, Kim, who has spent the week in Australia snapping pics with fans and promoting her new Kardashian Handbag line with sister Khloe Kardashian, has now decided to cancel the remainder of her public appearances in order to pretend she is mourning the demise of her marriage!
“I am very disappointed that I am unable to attend the Swisse marquee, but I hope to come back and work with the Swisse team at another point in time,” Kim said. She continued, “I love our fan base out here. Of course I do really want some time to myself and it has been tough. But I didn’t wanna bail on everyone and, you know, skip out on this commitment.” Kim was reportedly set to receive $150,000 for that appearance.
According to TMZ, Kim is telling friends she is so “distraught” over the divorce and wave of publicity that followed that she decided to bail on her Australian appearances and return to the U.S. Apparently this is the first time she’s ever missed “work” and is saying she just couldn’t handle it. Poor poor Kimmie Kakes.
Kim is quoted as saying: “I need to take care of me now, and I can’t work for awhile.” TMZ adds that it’s unclear if Kim will also be putting the brakes on her reality show, or whether she’ll simply be more selective as to what she does and doesn’t do in the near future.
And when it comes to Kim’s $2 million engagement ring, pimpmomager Kris Jenner is making it crystal clear Kim will NOT be returning it! You know, despite being only married for 72 days.
During her appearance on Good Morning America today to promote her new book All Things Kardashian, Kris was asked if Kim is planning to give back the 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond engagement ring (estimated at $2 million) Kris Humphries gave to her back in June. Her response? “I hate an Indian giver. It’s a gift. Keep your gift,” said Kris. Wowzers. In fact Kris is now receiving some backlash from Native American organizations for her “Indian giver” comment.
As for the jilted husband Kris, remember him? Kim has stopped following him on Twitter while he continues to follow her. In fact, Kris was photographed smiling and wearing his wedding ring on Monday morning in Minnesota while Kim was in L.A. filing for divorce. As we have reported, Kris found out about the divorce through TMZ.
Kris has also been lying low since the divorce filing and even canceled a scheduled Las Vegas appearance for this weekend. If only Kimmie had the same tact…
