Fast forward a few months to this past April, and Mendeecees entered a guilty plea to charges that could land him in prison for close to a decade. Just last month, a US District judge handed down the maximum sentence to the reality star, and Mendeecees’ wife Yandy was chastised for throwing him a lavish going away (to the clink) party (twas a tad gauche). Accepting culpability for his actions, Mendeecees has been very vocal about changing the cycle of children who grew up as he did. While I clearly don’t condone any of Mendeecees’ horrific dealings, I did get the vibe (on the show) that he is a truly genuine person who wants the best for his children…although now he won’t be around to deliver.
The original Love & Hip Hop franchise may be returning in two weeks with a brand new season, but one cast member may not get to watch the episodes as they air. Mendeecees Harris was sentenced today in Rochester, New York on a very serious drug trafficking charge.
The reality star (and groom of co-star Yandy Smith, thanks to VH1 sponsored live wedding ceremony) pleaded guilty to crime back in April in US District Court, and his sentence today could have had him facing years of prison time and a very hefty fine. As I was typing up this post, the Democrat & Chronicle updated its site with the judge’s ruling. Mendeecees was sentenced to serve 97 months in jail, or just over eight years to those (like myself) who aren’t mathletes.
Three quick lessons that y’all already know: 1) People are stupid; 2) It’s disgusting what people think they can get away with when it comes to deplorable behavior; and 3) If there’s a Love & HipHop franchise that isn’t airing at the moment, its stars will still make headlines. No new information.
With Love & Hip Hop Atlanta ending just this week (I miss you already, Dee!), and Love & Hip Hop Hollywood premiering it’s latest season on Monday, who is even thinking about the original series? It’s filming now so we won’t have to go a week without VH1’s guiltiest pleasure. Thank goodness! However, one half of New York’s most ridiculous couple has landed in the news. Tahiry Jose was allegedly attacked at New York Fashion Week.
Mona Scott-Young certainly knows what we like–reality drama so scripted it becomes hilarious entertainment! Of course, it’s even better if that drama is created by two certain members of the Love & Hip Hop family. Y’all know to whom I’m referring! Prayers have been answered.
The Puerto Rican Princess and Stebbie are getting a spin-off! Because what better way to reward bad behavior than by giving the couple their very own television show? I mean, if we’re being totally honest, they are the runaway stars of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. It’s basically the Stevie J. and Joseline Hernandez show anyway…with a multitude of supporting cast! VH1 has just announced the spin-off, as well as the renewal of K. Michelle: My Life. It’s a good day to be a LHH veteran!
As you all know Memorial Day is a time of remembrance and gratitude for those who lost their lives serving our country. It is also the day that VH1 upped the stakes by hosting not just a reality wedding, but a live one at that! That’s right, folks! Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris of Love & Hip Hop fame tied the know last night in a live two-hour special.
Nina Parker and Stevie J. are hosting the festivities for the live wedding extravaganza. The guest list runs the gamut from legitimate reality star powerhouses and music moguls (Kandi Burruss being both) to the cast of Mob Wives. Karen Gravano is mildly flirting with Big Tigger who is emceeing the cocktail hour before the ceremony. The venue is complete with a red carpet for Joseline Hernandez and Rasheeda Frost, a coiffed and made-up Yandy joins Nina in an oversize robe to share the exasperating dress debacle and wrong shoe size shenanigans that have been plaguing the bridesmaids for the past twenty-four hours. So much for Yandy getting some R&R the night before her big day!
Oh, Married to Medicine, I mean Medicine (thanks so much to the commenter who always makes me laugh by giving him that moniker!), I guess you’ve learned that it’s always best to tell the truth…even if the truth could cost you millions of dollars and potentially years away from the free world. And we all agreed that this past season of Love & Hip Hop was boring–what were we thinking?
Mendeecees Harris, one of the stars of VH1’s original L&HH franchise, has finally faced the music…and not of the hip hop variety. On Tuesday, Yandy Smith’s fiance pleaded guilty to the drug charges that have plagued him of late and sent him to prison for a good portion of the past season.
