When Lydia McLaughlin opted not to return to the Real Housewives of Orange County for season 9, most viewers — me included — thought she just didn't want to deal with all the drama. During her season she had to deal with the whole Vicki/Laurie skiing screaming match, if you do recall. But that actually was not the case at all.
The real reason Lydia opted not to return, was in order to focus on having a third baby. After announcing in April that she was pregnant, Lydia is now ready to reveal the baby's gender. In a new interview with OK! magazine, the entrepreneur also talks about some up-coming projects and if she keeps in touch with any of the other housewives.
I'm not going to lie. Sometimes (no, all the time) the amount of over-sharing people do on the Internet makes me slightly uncomfortable. I have certainly been guilty of it, but I try to keep updates about my appointments at the lady doctor, weird rashes, and sexy times (bwhahaha! Like I have them) out of my Twitter and Facebook feeds.
Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Lydia McLaughlin does not seem to follow this philosophy, and that's okay. It just kind of creeps me out a bit. She and husband Doug want to expand their family of four, and I know about it thanks to Twitter.
We all know that most women claw their way into a franchise and will do anything to stay there. Of course, sometimes even ridiculous feuds and story lines don't work, do they Gretchen Rossi? It's refreshing to see a housewife realize that the show isn't a be-all, end-all. Lydia didn't like the negativity and drama, so she peaced out…but she's got a great suggestion of someone to take her place!
As Tamra Barney,Heather Dubrow and Vicki Gunvalson headed off to Hawaii to film season nine of the reality series, Lydia stayed behind by choice. The now-former reality star confirmed her departure. "I compare it to breaking up with a boyfriend you know you're not going to end up with — it's hard, but overall you know you're doing the right thing."
