Marysol Patton

UPDATE – Bravo just confirmed the news via a press release. The press release also stated season one housewives Marysol Patton, Lea Black, and Audriana de Moura will be returning! Meaning Alexia Echevarria, alongside Larsa Pippen and Cristy Rice, will not be on the new season.

No word yet on why Alexia is out – perhaps it has to do with her 13-year-old son Frankie who suffered a very serious car accident last summer that left him hospitalized for months. Alexia had previously stated she did not wish to have Frankie’s recovery and rehabilitation filmed for the series. Bravo also confirmed production on the new season is set to begin this month.

The original story is below -

According to a new report, the Bravo network is gearing up to officially announce that the Real Housewives of Miami has been renewed for a second season!

This news is not much of a surprise as cast member Adriana De Moura pretty much confirmed it last November. The Hollywood Reporter states that Bravo is also cleaning house behind the scenes, as the network has called in the big guns–production company Purveyors of Pop–to produce the new season.

Purveyors of Pop is the same company behind Bravo’s more successful Atlanta, New Jersey, and New York Housewives franchises, as well as Bethenny Ever After.

THR also confirms what Adriana stated, which is that not all of the season 1 cast members will be coming back. While THR doesn’t confirm who will be getting the boot, Adriana has revealed both Larsa Pippen and Cristy Rice will not be returning.

Indeed, a new report by the Miami Herald today states Bravo has already cast replacements for Larsa and Cristy! And one of those new housewives is reportedly model Joanna Krupa!

That name should ring a bell as Joanna, 32, appeared on the 9th season of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars. As for Joanna’s link to Miami, she is engaged to Mynt nightclub owner Romain Zago.

The second addition to the cast is said to be Lisa Hochstein, wife of plastic surgeon Dr. Lenny Hochstein of the short-lived Bravo version of Nip/Tuck called Miami Slice. Photos of Joanna and Lisa are below!

Bravo is said to be currently doing a test shoot with the new cast members. “They’re filming with these new women to see if it makes it more watchable, which compared to the first season, shouldn’t be that hard,” reveals a TV insider. Ouch! As for Bravo, they are not confirming the news simply stating: “No decision has been made on The Real Housewives of Miami.”

The Herald also adds that Mama Elsa Patton played a big role in Bravo’s decision to give Miami another chance. The first season of the series was not only lackluster, but it also tanked in ratings, too. Just how bad did the Miami housewives do, you ask? Let’s just say the now canceled Real Housewives of DC had better ratings!

I do wonder if this franchise can be salvaged – perhaps Bravo might want to consider adding more than two new housewives. Or better yet, I’m still waiting on my dream franchise aka The Real Housewives of Dallas… Sigh.

Like it or not, there will be a second season of the Real Housewives of Miami!

Even better, Adriana De Moura confirms season two is set to begin filming in a few weeks, but not without a big shake up!

In an interview with the Miami Herald, Adriana reveals season 1 cast members Larsa Pippen and Cristy Rice will NOT be returning. “Larsa and Cristy are out,’’ states Adriana. “Producers didn’t want this to go in a Basketball Wives direction. We’ll portray Miami the way it should be portrayed.’’ Ouch!

So who will be the new housewives taking their places? Adriana has no idea though she assures us almost everyone in Miami is vying to be on the show.

“It’s so funny, when we aired, everyone said, ‘Oh that show is so bad. I don’t even watch it,’ she says. “But when they were casting, all of a sudden — I’m not going to mention names — but now half of Miami wants to be in it.’’

MARYSOL PATTON EXPLAINS WHY THE FIRST SEASON FLOPPED!

Adriana once again defends her show and the lackluster first season. She explains the first season didn’t work because Bravo never meant for the series to become a Real Housewives franchise. Indeed, the show was originally intended to be a Miami Social knockoff, but became a Housewives franchise during the editing process.

“That’s why we had shorter episodes and all that foolishness,’’ says the optimistic Adriana. “Now we’re hoping to beat Beverly Hills!’’ Umm let’s not get ahead of ourselves now Adrie!

With filming set to begin in about six weeks, Adriana states she alongside Marysol Patton (Yay for Mama Elsa!), Alexia Echevarria and Lea Black will be returning.

Larsa’s departure is not much of a surprise as she reportedly moved back to Chicago with her husband Scottie Pippen and their family earlier this year.

Despite being publicly fired by Bravo, UsWeekly is reporting that Alex ‘Aint Too Proud To Beg‘ McCord will be replacing Jill Zarin on the Bravo housewives tour!

If you recall, the Bravo network announced the first ever Housewives tour back in August and Jill was scheduled to headline the October 15 date in Atlanta alongside Nene Leakes, Melissa Gorga and Marysol Patton.

When Bravo announced the tour back then, many assumed it meant Jill would be a sure thing for the Real Housewives of New York City season 5! But as we all learned, that was not the case. Days after Bravo finally confirmed the firings, Jill, 48, made it clear she would no longer be a part of the tour. Not a fan of Jill’s but I must say I actually see her point of view in this. Really, who wants to do PR for the company that just publicly fired them?

So it’s a surprise today that Alex, who was also fired by Bravo, is more than happy to take Jill’s spot! In a statement to UsWeekly, Alex, 37, cites her “close relationship” with Bravo as her reason for having no pride doing the tour!

“I have a close relationship with Bravo and when they asked me to step in I was happy to accept,” Alex states. “The audience coming to see The Real Housewives Live Tour want to know about the past and our experience of filming and being a ‘Real Housewife’ on Bravo TV. With four seasons under my belt, I have plenty to say about that subject! The live show format is similar to a tour I did with the New Jersey ladies a few years ago, and we had a lot of fun doing it.”

E! reported a week ago that Alex and hubby Simon van Kempen were still begging Bravo to have them back on the show.

In other RHONY news, non-fired housewife who really should have been fired Countess LuAnn de Lesseps reportedly fell off a table while dancing.

According to the NY Post, Countess Lulu took a Snooki-style tumble during a birthday party over the weekend at the uptown restaurant Desmond’s. Apparently, Lulu heard her song come on – Katy Perry’s Last Friday Night – during which she decided to do some table dancing. Unfortunately for the Countess, she ended taking a fall and cutting her knee.

The Post doesn’t state whether or not the Countess was inebriated. This isn’t however the first time there has been a report of the Countess acting wild in public. Here’s to hoping the Bravo cameras will be around to capture it all next time!

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON ALEX AGREEING TO DO THE TOUR AFTER BEING FIRED? DESPERATE OR OKAY?

In today’s reality news, Bravo Housewives continue their attempt at world domination!

The Bravo network announced earlier this week that for the first time in history of the series, Housewives from various cities will gather together on one stage for what is being called “The Real Housewives Live Tour.

According to the press release, “Fans will have the chance to get up-close and personal with their favorite cast members as the ladies discuss the most talked about moments, reveal cast secrets and answer questions straight from the audience.”

The three-city tour begins in Atlantic City, NJ on October 1 with Caroline Manzo (RHONJ), LuAnn de Lesseps (RHONY), Kyle Richards (RHOBH) and Vicki Gunvalson (RHOC).

On October 8, Sonja Morgan (RHONY), Gretchen Rossi (RHOC), Lisa Vanderpump (RHOBH) and Phaedra Parks (RHOA) will meet fans in Hammond, Indiana.

The tour will then conclude October 15 with NeNe Leakes (RHOA), Jill Zarin (RHONY), Melissa Gorga (RHONJ) and Marysol Patton (RHOM) in Atlanta.

For the fans looking to get up close and personal with the cra cra housewives, it’s gonna cost you! The ticket prices will range from $49.50 to $170.00. They go on sale Friday, August 19.

In other housewives news, a new report is once again dispelling those silly Jill Zarin is considering leaving the Real Housewives of New York City rumors. According to the NY Post, that is far from the truth as the Jillousy has practically been begging Bravo to keep her on the show.

“Jill would re-sign tomorrow if she could. She has been pitching herself very aggressively to keep her on next season, because she’s terrified she’ll be phased out,” reveals a source. “She would love to have her own show like [former "Housewives" star] Bethenny Frankel, but she’s not getting it.” Ouch!

This makes you wonder if Jill was indeed one of the reported two NYC Housewives who told Bravo they would be willing to take a pay cut to remain on the show. In the meantime, some are speculating that Jill alongside Countess LuAnn and Sonja Morgan will indeed be returning next season due to the fact that Bravo is including them in the tour.

Perhaps Jill has now received word from Bravo that she will be returning because she has changed her tune since last week. Jill recently told UsWeekly that she is NOT leaving the show.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE BRAVO HOUSEWIVES TOUR? WILL BE BE ATTENDING? PLUS ARE YOU SURPRISED JILL IS DESPERATE TO REMAIN ON RHONY?

Following months of speculation, it has now been confirmed that the Real Housewives of Miami will be returning for a second season!

Housewife Alexia Echevarria confirmed the news via her twitter page! “Dear Followers, Yes, #RHOM2 is coming back but there is going to be some BIG changes and that’s all I can say…… so Stay tuned!” tweeted Alexia.

As of the moment, there is no word yet on the casting changes we can expect though the general consensus seems to be that Larsa Pippen will not be returning. The reason? Well for starters, she is no longer residing in Miami since moving to Chicago with her husband and family.

At the end of the day, it’s safe to assume most fans of the show will be okay with any of the housewives getting the axe as long as Mama Elsa Patton returns! Let’s face it, Elsa was THE star of the show.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE RHOM SEASON 2? EXCITED? DO YOU THINK THE SHOW CAN BE SAVED?

Real Housewives of Miami fans can breathe a sigh of relief today as it does not appear the show will suffer the same fate as the DC Housewives.

According to a new report by the Miami Herald, the show will likely return for a sophomore season. However it appears the Bravo network is looking to replace some of the cast members… rightfully so if I might add.

An insider reveals that Bravo has axed the show’s original producers and casting agents and is now using its own staff. In addition to that, Bravo producers are also reported to be in town this weekend to re-interview the original cast.

“Not everyone from the original cast will be back,” says the inside source. As for Bravo, they refuse to confirm or deny the story with a rep for the network stating, “We haven’t made any announcements regarding a second season.”

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE MIAMI HOUSEWIVES’ LIKELY RETURN? WHO SHOULD BRAVO KEEP OR AXE?

In a new interview, Real Housewives of Miami star Marysol Patton displays some refreshing honesty when she candidly discusses the first season of the Bravo show and why it failed to impress some fans.

For starters, the show seemed to have all the makings of its successful Bravo counterparts, such as the catfights, dramatic dinners from hell, and even a party crashing incident, but for some reason, it just didn’t gel well together. The RHOM brought in pretty low ratings for Bravo, even lower than the Real Housewives of DC which was recently canceled.

“The ratings? I knew why that was happening,” said Marysol to the Daily Beast. “They literally told us 10 days before it aired that the show was going to air.” The Daily Beast however notes it was actually 19 days; with Bravo making the officially announcement to postpone the NYC Housewives in favor of the RHOM on Feb. 3. The Miami Housewives made its debut on Feb. 22.

“We got one week’s promotion,” Marysol continued. “All the other shows get two months of, ‘It’s coming, it’s coming, it’s coming!’ What kind of following can you get when there’s only one of advertising?”

And Marysol, who owns a PR company, wasn’t happy with the very short time they had to promote the show. “When we were told, all of a sudden everyone in [my] office froze. We looked at each in awe, like, What are we going to do? We looked at each other like, Why do we all feel so paralyzed? I didn’t know what to do. We had to let Bravo do their thing, I couldn’t go gang-busters doing my own PR. So I had to sit back and watch… We were all frozen and frustrated.”

Marysol also points out what has been widely reported which is that the show was not intended to be a housewives series. In fact, she reveals when she was first approached by Bravo to do the show, it was sold to her as an untitled project “about women in business and philanthropy.”

“It wasn’t supposed to be a Housewives show,” said Marysol adding that Bravo considered different titles such as Miami Caliente and Miami Chicas. “So they did a lot of work scenes, which got cut out.” And when the show finally aired, her storyline “was turned into romance and my mom.”

Marysol reveals she and her costars were told their show would become a Real Housewives series after filming wrapped. She adds that she wasn’t happy most of her work scenes were cut out, echoing the same sentiments of her costar Cristy Rice who stated she was disappointed Bravo failed to make mention of her boutique, which she has had for 12 years.

Despite everything, Marysol makes it clear she enjoyed the Housewives experience and most importantly her mom, Elsa Patton, who has become a fan favorite and now has her own twitter account, loves the attention that comes with the show.
