Uh oh. I hope this isn't a case of biting the hand that feeds you! Gloria Govan of Basketball Wives: LA hasn't exactly been loyal to the network who made her a reality star, and VH1 needs to take note about what the reality star is saying in the media. She's got way more important projects in the works, yall like that web series…!!
On season two of the show, Gloria pretty much alienated all of her cast mates except for sister Laura, and it's no secret that her husband Matt Barnes isn't a fan of his wife's involvement with the reality series. And speaking of her husband, Gloria didn't even inform the network when she eloped with Matt while the season was filming. That certainly couldn't have gone over well!
Can I get a slow clap for Shaunie O'Neal? She said she was going to clean up the violence and drama on Basketball Wives, and by God, she's going to deliver. Oh wait. Nevermind. Instead, Ms. Nostrils O'Neal fired the calm ladies and kept her violent, bullying friends for the fifth season. They say they want to redeem themselves. I think Kenya Bell needs to duck!
That's right, folks! Both wine bottle tossing, table jumping Evelyn Lozada and purse snatching, in-your-face screaming Tami Roman will be back for another round. Apparently, they've "grown" in light of recent circumstances and deserve a fifth second chance. Tami suffered a mild heart attack, so she has a new lease on life, while Evelyn had a short-lived marriage that ended in a head butt from Chad Johnson, so surely she's learned that violence isn't the answer. Right? Hello? Anyone believe that?
Last week, we reported on what a great weekMatt Barnes was having, given his secret wedding and the fact he got off with some minor traffic violations after being charged with felony resisting arrest. Well, Matt didn't necessarily handle that great week with class. Who's shocked?
The officer that arrested Matt had previously stopped the basketballer twice before, so clearly the pair had history. The cop even waited outside the restaurant where Matt was having dinner with Basketball Wives LA'sGloria Govan for hours to arrest NBA player on suspicion of driving with a suspended license (he wasn't). When Matt tried to hand his keys to Gloria, the officer charged him with felony resisting arrest. Hmm…something tells me there is more to the beef between these two that meets the eye!
While we were watching Basketball Wives LA'sJackie Christie plan her seventeenth vow renewal, apparently Gloria Govan and Matt Barnes were applying for a marriage license in Las Vegas after a ceremony on Sunday. What, no hoopla? No over-the-top celebrity filled reception? I'm shocked.
Of course, perhaps the couple had enough of wedding planning the first go-round. After all, Gloria and Matt were engaged two years ago and called off the wedding right before their August nuptials. Maybe a small and spontaneous service at a Vegas chapel is exactly what these two needed.
We won't be seeing Matt Barnes on this season of Basketball Wives: L.A., but it isn't because the he and Gloria Govan are on the outs with one another. On the first season the couple certainly had their share of highs and lows, eventually calling off their engagement when they couldn't work out their differences.
Isn't it amazing what eight short months can do? Gloria and Matt have reunited…although she claims to have learned a lot about herself in their time apart. This time she'll be facing the craziness of the sophomore season without her man.
I know it seems like they’ve been gone for a while, but thankfully the ladies of Basketball Wives: L.A. are back on the radar as the show begins shooting soon! We’re sure to get updates on all the craziness…and first on the list? It’s the tumultuous relationship between Gloria Govan and basketball beau Matt Barnes.
Following their very nasty and public breakup last year, the duo was recently spotted in West Hollywood at Greystone Manor. Also partying with the pair? Rihanna, Tyga and Drake were reportedly also at the club. The couple, who called off their engagement last season, were seen holding hands and getting cozy throughout the night.
It’s interesting to hear the two are apparently back together, seeing as it was just November when rumors that Matt was datingEva Longoria were swirling amid several sightings of the basketballer and the small-screen queen. Both of course denied any hanky panky and gave the age-old “just friends” response.
Apparently, a reconciliation is in the works, as Sister2Sister comments on the pair’s relationship as well. The site notes that Gloria was interviewed by “The Staci Harris” and revealed that filming for the Los Angeles franchise of the show will commence at the end of this month. That wasn’t the only tidbit information garnered from Gloria’s chat – it is reported that Matt had tagged along and was in the building while she was giving her interview.

Just when it appeared the split between Basketball Wives LA stars Matt Barnes and Gloria Govan was amicable, things are quickly turning nasty all thanks to a new statement released by Matt!
In the bombshell statement, released Wednesday, Matt explains the real reason Gloria and he parted ways was due to an “ongoing affair” she continues to have with a friend of his. Even more shocking, Matt claims they actually broke things off in May, but Gloria begged him to put on a facade due to her TV career. Ai ya ya.
Matt’s full statement via his Twitter page is below -
“In May, Gloria and I decided to separate and in the best interest of her career, I foolishly agreed to portray that we were still together for the upcoming season off her show on VH1. As recently as August we decided to revisit a joint statement of our separation, but Gloria asked to delay making our separation public for the interest of her show.
It is ironic now how Gloria is trying to manipulate the professional relationship between Eva Longoria and myself as the sole reason for our separation, when she knows we split up in May. The reason I broke my silence and released the separation statement a month ago, was due to her on going affair with a former friend of mine. Again, I wish her nothing but the best and I will continue to keep our children as my first priority.”
Wowzers. According to the rumor mill, that friend might be none other than rapper The Game. The Game is pictured with Matt in the pic below and even gave the couple a shout out in his song ‘Good Girls Gone Bad.’ The Game rapped, “Drizzy, I’m sittin here watchin’ Basketball Wives, Like ugh, them is basketball wives? Only cute one, Gloria, thats my ni**a Matt Barnes chick, Can’t swim in that pool fool, thats a crucial conflict.”
It has been rumored for weeks now that Gloria has been having a fling with The Game. Perhaps the rumors are true or perhaps Matt is just believing what others are whispering.
Gloria responded to Matt’s claims via Twitter… of course. Below is what she had to say:
“So Matt’s at it again I see… Whatever he feels like he needs to say to justify our separation is on him. Obviously his relationship with Eva is important enough to bash me. So I wish him and her nothing but the best. Ad will continue to focus Me and out kids. Happy thanksgiving everyone xoxo.”
As for Matt, multiple media outlets continue to report that he is now seeing actressEva Longoria. Despite their denials, the two continue to be photographed together with Star magazine reporting they are indeed having a “fling.” An insider told the mag: “Eva and Matt are sleeping together. It’s a full-blown fling!”

Basketball Wives: L.A.’s Jackie Christie has been all over the internet discussing the past first season of VH1′s hit show. She’s been granting interviews with different blogs to get her side of the story to fans. Recently, she spoke with The Urban Daily to talk about her co-stars, what it’s like to be a true basketball wife, and of course, that crazy Hawaiian vacation.
The Hawaiian trip proved to be the breaking point for the ladies and Jackie. Jackie recalls, “They were like you have to leave the island. I said, ‘How can you vote the island off the island? I am the island. You guys dont have any pull. I am the island you guys are playing in my territory.’” She continues, “As for what the girls are doing in Hawaii, that wasn’t real. They really weren’t being upfront or honest about what they were doing and saying. I think the girls know what they’ve done and that all the dishonestly will come back and bite them and I explained over and over again it doesn’t matter what you do and say on TV, you have to address it.”
As for what really went down, Jackie continues to maintain, in a very roundabout way, that everything she told Imani Showalter that Laura Govan said (and vice versa) is true. “I really don’t want to knock the other cast members. People are always trying to make each other people look bad and that’s not what I’m here to do. I will just say I am being honest, I was very honest on the show. I don’t have any motives or any reason to make these girls go against each other.” A very different perception from what was shown, eh?
She explains, “My truth is what was said, was said to me! Like I told Laura ‘you said all these things about me that I’m overweight but second of all you said my hair was ugly’ and I thought we were friends. What I told those girls in Hawaii is what I said in their face. They know their truths and on the reunion it is going to be really really surprising.”
What about that much anticipated reunion? Jackie teases that a few juicy tidbits will be revealed, saying, “There will be some explosive information shared at the reunion, VERY BIG. It’s going to be very interesting. I think a lot of people will be shocked. I think a lot of people who swayed one way will probably take a second look at the way they feel or are thinking. I think it’s going to say a whole lot about who we are as people.”
Jackie has some things to say about a couple of her fellow castmates. As for Draya Michele, Jackie disputes any conjecture that she was ever mean to the new girl. As she remembers, “When I met Draya I adored her, I took her out for ice cream. I told her right off the bat that you seem to be combative. I took her under my wing off the bat, I didn’t judge her. When I found out about her and whatever happened with her son it was from one of the other cast members at the pamper party. I tried to tell the girls we’re all here, let’s all talk about it. I’ve always liked Draya.” Seems like her recollection as an instigator and mine as a viewer are maybe a little skewed.
Jackie also discusses the only other lady who, like Jackie, can actually call herself a basketball wife. Of Malaysia Pargo, she says, “I tell Malaysia ‘you’re the last person I want to have beef with. You’ve called me a million of times, you told me you don’t trust any of them’ so for you to sit there now like you are apart of this group all happy – you were the first one to get in a fight with all of them. You need to sit down and fall back!” Yikes!
While Malaysia and Jackie share the common bond of holy matrimony, only Jackie knows how hard it is to be Jackie. She won’t say the other women are jealous of her… however, she will not say it either. She muses, “I would hate to use the word jealous,but I don’t know what else it could be. I think I’m strong willed and determined, I have a path in life and you know maybe that’s what it is. Maybe they’re all still figuring it out. And they’re like who are you to tell me…” She continues, “Starting out they sung my praises, once it started going and things started coming out, colors started being shown. I can be your best friend or your worst enemy, and I said that. ‘Don’t cross me!’ I don’t know if its jealousy, I hope not.”
Finally, Jackie dishes on the break-up between Gloria Govan and fiancé Matt Barnes, “I think, even on the show it shows that we are good friends. We went out and Matt shared a lot of stuff, Gloria was even touched as well.” She says, “I’ve known him for about seven years. They are really respectful of one another. I was really shocked with that whole thing. I honestly don’t believe this break-up is permanent. What I think may be wrong is that sometimes you lose that communication and there isn’t that much intimacy where you sit down and really open up to your mate. I would love to advise them on that. Gloria seems like she has everything under control.”
Does Gloria? Those sneaky Matt Barnes and Eva Longoriarumors won’t seem to go away. TMZ is reporting that on Tuesday, Eva did something that screams “relationship,” well at least according to When Harry Met Sally. She picked up Matt from the airport. While sources continue to claim the pair’s relationship is nothing but platonic (and I tend to agree with them… they seem like an odd pairing), tongues continue to wag. And why not? Eva is a well-known TV star reportedly dating Penelope Cruz’s younger brother, and Matt is in a relatively high profile break-up. Sources say that the friendship is one based in both “celebrities” love of charity work. There’s certainly nothing wrong with that!
Not to jump back to Jackie’s interview, but I think she sums up this blog post so eloquently when discussing the cast of Basketball Wives: L.A. Jackie matter of factly states, “I feel like all of them are cooky.”
