The Real Housewives of New Jersey has been super dramatic, but there is definitely some dead weight if I’m keeping it real. You can fill in the blanks on this one, but in my opinion Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, and Jacqueline Laurita, all make great TV, and then there are the other ladies…. I mean, people actually attacked Melissa’s 21-year-old store manager Derek Zagami, who was not even present, to get a story line. And now he is not working there anymore, is that a coincidence?
Really though. As much as I love this show (and I’m obsessed) the casting is just not 100%. Sure, I like the other cast members as people, but that doesn’t mean that they have what it takes to be entertaining on reality television. So I would actually love it if Danielle Staub returned. And believe it or not, Teresa actually agrees that Danielle should make a comeback. Wait. What?
To Vermont we go! To Vermont we go… You can take the girls out of Jersey but you can’t take the Real Housewives Of New Jersey out of the girls! Even if you put them in big giant snow boots and plain old terry cloth bathrobes. Last night also signified the return of Kim D (for Desperate!), which in my book is always a good thing! Run on with the big boys, Kim, run on!
Melissa Gorga has lofty ideas to turn the trip to Vermont into one last relaxing weekend for Teresa Giudice before Joe goes to prison and Teresa becomes a single mom. Melissa even invited Teresa’s close friends Robyn and Christina. Unfortunately, Teresa’s girls weekend is beset by problems from the get-go. Two of those problems are named Kathy Wakile and Rosie Pieri.
Ever since Jacqueline Laurita shared her family’s financial difficulties during the premiere of Real Housewives of New Jersey this season, I can’t help feeling like she’s determined to stay on this show. Don’t get me wrong, I would feel the same way, but I feel like she’s just such a shit stirrer, especially when it comes to Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga’s family drama. She seems like more of an instigator than a peacemaker since she has no qualms interfering and criticizing Teresa and Melissa for how they handle familial issues.
Now, Jacqueline has taken it upon herself to be the crusader for Kathy Wakile and Rosie Pierri. I know she is legitimately friends with them and cares about their well-being, but I feel like she is always riling them up to talk shit about Teresa and adding fuel to the fire. Sure, a big part of being on reality TV is talking about your feelings to create story line, but Kathy and Rosie are not even Housewives, so it’s a little much for me.
A new week means a new gallery of the reality TV stars showing off, throwing shade, or sharing snapshots on Twitter and Instagram. Then there’s Bethenny Frankel, in a category all of her own, Skinnygirl! Everything! Forever!, showing off her bikini body while promoting her watermelon line.
Season 7 of Real Housewives Of New Jersey continues to center around the transformation of Teresa Giudice. Flashbacks to the season 4 reunion feature an enraged Teresa, morphed into TreHulk – bright green dress and all! – screaming into Kathy Wakile‘s face, contrasted with a post-prison Teresa, calmly explaining that she’s just “not ready” to deal with the emotional weight of rebuilding her relationships with her cousins. Instead, it is Rosie screaming in frustration.
It exemplifies a point that no one on Real Housewives of New Jersey seems to understand until it is way too late: no matter how much you want it so, no matter how much you regret your actions – from the person you married, to the words you said, to all the money you shouldn’t have spent – you can’t erase the past. In the immortal words of Cher, “If I could turn back time/If I could find a way/ I’d take back those words that hurt you…”
The first viewer question asks why Melissa loved Rosie and Kathy last season when they stood up for her, but this season she’s dropping them. “I’m not dropping them. I feel like we have grown apart, I’m not gonna lie about that. They actually stopped calling me to start that off. Sometimes people just grow apart and we didn’t have a big fight. I love them very much – they’re like family – they ARE family to us. I feel like what goes on between them and Teresa runs deep down the line. Like before I was even around, generations.
