Michael “The Situation” Sorrentino

While the popularity of MTV’s mega hit show Jersey Shore continues to soar, there is one clothing company that would like nothing to do with the show.

Evidently Abercrombie and Fitch is NOT a fan of The Situation, 29, and is now in fact offering him alongside his castmates a “substantial” amount of cash to never sport their gear again.

“We are deeply concerned that Mr. Sorrentino’s association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image,” the company said in a press release on Tuesday. “We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans.”

The statement continued, “We have therefore offered a substantial payment to Michael ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and the producers of MTV’s The Jersey Shore to have the character wear an alternate brand. We have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently waiting a response.”

Ouch! What is a bit odd is that the company reportedly capitlized on The Situation’s popularity last year by releasing a “Fitchuation” t-shirt.

And it turns out The Sitch is not the only reality star to turn off a clothing company. The Starcasm blog reports Teen Mom star Gary Shirley also received a request from another clothing company –Aeropostale — days ago asking him to stop wearing their gear as well.

Gary tweeted, “I’m no longer allowed to wear Aero although I did stop wearing it a while ago. They called and banned it. Was a very sad day for me :( RIP..” He later added, “Aero reached out and asked to either blur or not wear at all…” Surely that has to hurt.

They’re baaack! The crazy kids of Jersey Shore are set to return to MTV on January 6 for their 3rd and most likely final season.

And for the first time on Monday night, MTV aired a 30 second trailer to promote the third season. In the preview clip, posted below, Vinny is shown engaging in a four-way kiss, the new cast member Deena Nicole Cortese is shown getting down and dirty, and it seems Jwoww and Sammi get into yet another physical fight.

Also shown is Snooki‘s now infamous drunken fiasco that ended in her being arrested. Based on the preview clip, the formula of drinking, fighting and fist pumping remains in full effect. Should be a hit! The last season of the show brought MTV it’s best ratings in a very long while. The show averaged over 5 million viewers per episode.

Season 3 premieres on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 10/9c on MTV.

In other Shore news, TMZ is reporting that cast member Jenni Farley aka JWoww is being sued by her ex-boyfriend Thomas Lippolis, who has been featured on both seasons of the show.

Tom is alleging he served as JWoww’s business manager, helping her sign deals with MTV, nightclubs, a tanning lotion company and even a plastic surgeon. In court documents, Tom claims he was the one who negotiated her Jersey Shore deal of $17,500 per episode plus a $75k bonus “dependant on ratings at the end of the season.”

According to Tom, JWoww stiffed him and he now wants $350,000 to make things right. Sources close to JWoww however deny Tom’s claims, stating he did not negotiate her tanning or MTV contract and he was paid for the appearances he booked.

JWoww also fired off a letter to her ex a few weeks ago requesting he return the nude photos of her in his possession. The letter read, “It has come to [Jwoww's] attention that you may be in possession of certain photos of her that may be derogatory to her image and in violation of her contract with MTV.”

And the photo above is of the Jersey Shore cast with Barbara Walters as they earned a spot on Barbara Walters’ annual list of the “10 Most Fascinating People.” The cast members gave Barbara a lesson in GTL — gym-tan-laundry — grenades,” and smooshing.”
