Lauren Conrad, former star of The Hillshas a lot to celebrate nowadays. The first being her smart decision to leave the fake reality show, with the second being her book making it to the New York best seller list.
People is reporting that her debut novel, L.A. Candy, has now topped the New York Times Best Seller list two weeks in a row.
“If someone said to me five years ago when this all started that I would one day make the New York Times Best Seller list I wouldn’t have believed it,” says Lauren. “I am so honored that it is now a reality.”
L.A. Candy is loosely based on Conrad’s own life. The main character of the book, Jane Roberts, is a 19-year-old girl who moves to Hollywood and ends up as the star of her own reality show. Congrats to Lauren on her new found success.
TELL US – WILL YOU CONTINUE TO WATCH THE HILLS WITHOUT LAUREN?
MTV continues it’s trend of taking young, attractive 20 something year olds, supplying them with loads of alcohol, all while taping it and calling it the “Real World.” I promised myself I was done with this show, but I caught myself watching both episodes last night and I must say, it was pretty interesting.
We’ll start of with Ayiiia (the viewers choice) who for some reason just comes of as very unlikeable. Within seconds of seeing this girl on TV, I just knew she would be the token “annoying” cast mate. Something tells me the viewers who voted for her might be feeling bamboozled as she came off as being sweet, fun and exciting during the audition process. A different story however on the show, where she is coming off as annoying, cold, unlikeable, and an all around Debbie Downer.
Yes, Joey acted like a jerk towards her by spitting on her tacos, but she was way out of line for making fun of Joey’s “herpes” lip in my opinion. Moving on to Jonna and CJ aka the “heartthrob.” So in Jonna world, it’s completely okay to sleep in the same bed with another man, dry hump him, kiss him everywhere but his lips, hold hands with him every chance you get, then act shocked and appalled when he finally attempts to kiss you? Pretty much felt bad for Jonna’s boyfriend during the entire show. She seems sweet but very misguided. She might have CJ confused with Derek who is gay and probably my favorite roommate at the moment. Here’s my summary of each of the housemates -
Emilee = Total drama queen. Bears a striking resemblance to Mallory of Real World Paris.
Jonna – Seems like a nice girl but her “hotness” is extremely very overrated. The way she is alienating herself from the other female cast mates will be sure to backfire.
CJ - Insanely gorgeous but a jerk, and was definitely looking for a reason to break up with his girlfriend from back home.
Jasmine - So so for the moment, don’t like the way she seems to follow what the other girls (Emilee and Aiiiya) are doing.
Derek - Very likeable, love the way he tries to keep the peace.
Bronne - The one I keep wanting to forget, waiting for his purpose on the show to be revealed. Seems nice though.
Joey – Likeable jerk. His music was great.
Aiiiya – Something about her just rubs you the wrong way, or maybe it’s just me.
All in all, this should be an interesting season. I am somewhat hooked now, and can’t wait to see the next episode. Wonder what causes the big fight between Emilee and Aiiiya. Below are some photos of the cast members.
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOU THOUGHTS ON REAL WORLD CANCUN?
Audrina Patridge is one step closer to having her reality show air on MTV. According to Entertainment Weekly, the Hills star’s new series is currently in development at MTV.
The new reality show is titled The Audrina Showand is being produced by Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Apprentice). The Audrina Show will focus on her personal and professional life. Umm what professional life?
Audrina’s final episodes of The Hills will begin airing in the fall and will also feature former Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari.
First it was Kristin Cavallari all but confirming that MTV’s The Hills is fake. Now it’s Lauren Conrad’s turn. Lauren appeared on the View yesterday, and surprisingly admitted that the infamous apology phone call she received from Spencer Pratt was fake. She said she was not on the other line for that phone call.
Lauren was asked by Elisabeth Hasselbeck, “Did you feel like it was a sincere apology when it came from him?” Lauren smiled, paused and rolled her eyes before answering – “To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t on the other end of that call,” Conrad replied. “That was filmed, and I wasn’t on the other end. So I didn’t even know about it until [it was on TV]. So, no, I didn’t get an apology. He lied.”
So why did she agree to go to their wedding if she never got an apology?
“It’s hard to understand now, but a long time ago — years ago — we moved here together, and we were best friends, and we used to say, ‘Some day at our wedding….,'” Conrad said. “I just felt like it was a few hours of my time, and as much as I didn’t agree with it, I might some day regret not doing it.”
So basically Spencernever apologized for spreading those sex tape rumors. MTV should just go ahead and call this show a soap opera instead of a reality show. Are people still watching this show? I pretty much stopped watching a few seasons back.
The Hills star, Stephanie Pratt, talks to Us Weekly magazine this week about hating her body and her terrifying secret struggle with bulimia.
Stephanie opens up about her eating disorder for the first time, saying it was sparked by the pressure of appearing alongside her super-thin friends on the hit MTV reality show. I’m guessing the “super thin” friends would have to include Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Pratt, and pretty much every female that ever appeared on The Hills.
Stephanie, who is described as being 5-foot-7 also reveals to US that she began bingeing and purging after watching a scene she shot with Lauren Conrad in 2007 after first joining the cast: “I was horrified. I remember saying, ‘I can’t believe how huge I look walking over to Lauren.'”
The cover story also teases about how Stephanie once attempted suicide. Hmm, will be reserving my personal comments on this one.
As we reported earlier, Laguna Hill alumni and nemesis of Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari is set to replace her on The Hills. Well it has now been officially confirmed. The 22-year old’s first appearance will be the May 31st season finale (she catches the bouquet at Heidi and Spencer’s wedding, natch), she is then set to appear in 10 episodes this fall.
Kristin says she is fully prepared to stir things up. “It’s a TV show,” she explains. “I’m not going into it like, ‘I’m going to make great friendships with these people.’ It’s work! And drama sells. I think that’s why they’re bringing me in, because I know what works.” Cavallari had plenty more to reveal in her exclusive interview with EW.
On why she’s coming back to reality TV:
“The goal for me is to get my fans excited about me again. When I first started out, I had a celebrity name but I didn’t have the acting skills I have now. If I have some buzz with my name again, I feel like it will only help.”
On rumors that producers are plotting a romance between her and Justin Bobby (which The Hills producers deny):
“I have no idea! [laughs] I don’t think MTV would be like, ‘Oh you’re dating him now. This is your boyfriend.’ But they might try and set up situations. I’m totally cool with that. Again, it’s a TV show and they need to make it entertaining.”
On how her version of TheHills will differ from Lauren’s:
“I’m a completely different person than Lauren. I have a lot more energy. I’m more outgoing. I’m a little more spontaneous. And she has a boyfriend so she’s not dating on the show. I’m very open to dating and finding a guy.”
On introducing Heidi and Spencer:
“It’s so funny. I guess it was 4 years ago. I was dating Brody [Jenner] and Spencer was Brody’s best friend. I had known Heidi when she was friends with Lauren when we were still filming Laguna Beach. Heidi was like, ‘Hook me up with someone. I wanna meet a guy.’ And Brody and I were kinda like, ‘Well, maybe Spencer?’ We’ll see what happens.’ So we all went on a double date and they just hit it off right away and now they’re married.”
So it’s safe to draw from this interview that the Hills is now completely fake, and the producers pretty much write all the story lines.
