Patti Stanger

Patti Sanger has emerged from hiding and is back to insulting people giving advice. In a new interview, the Millionaire Matchmaker talks her professional life, matchmaking, and how her reality show isn’t all that real.

“I was always a matchmaker in my personal life and realized there was a lot of money to be made doing it,” Patti tells TheFashionSpot blog of her roots growing up in NYC before moving to Miami and then LA where she became the Director of Marketing at the now defunct on-line dating site, Great Expectations.

Patti decided to branch out and started her own matchmaking service, which as we know is called Millionaire’s Club International, which grew into an international company with over 30 employees – which I guess implies she had some successful matches somewhere. From there Patti sparked the attention of Bravo and a reality television show was born!

“These days, I’m taking on less clients, but making more money,” she reveals on the state of her company. And she also confirms what I’ve always believed to be true! The clients we see her matching up on reality TV are definitely not her clients in real life! “My clients would NEVER go on the show,” Patti emphasizes. “They’re more discreet, living in places like Aspen and Monaco and want to remain private.” Imagine, reality TV setting up scenarios and changing reality! Poor Bravo, nobody is singing them praises these days!

Talking the difference between matching women up coast-to-coast, Patti declares: “New York women are picky, bitter, and don’t even try. Get a blow out, put on some makeup, and wear a dress!” she demands. “New York girls are smart in business, dumb in love; LA girls are smart in love, dumb in business.” Aaahhh… Patti and her generalizations! And she even has one for the Europeans! “Europeans are more comfortable with relationships,” she insists.

Patti also discusses her ever so archaic “rules” for finding love, which include: 1) A two-drink maximum on dates, as she equates getting too drunk as “sabotage” 2) Not giving too much information away on the first date – keep some things “secret” and 3) Don’t talk about your ex – “It doesn’t make a person feel special”. Allegedly Patti follows these rules herself, except for an once where she broke them on “accident.” As for what kind of guy she’s looking for: tall, rich, and romantic – and “no metrosexuals!”

Best of luck to Patti on her quest to find love and on her quest to set other people up successfully. I’ll believe it when I see it!

THOUGHTS ON THE INTERVIEW? DO YOU BELIEVE PATTI IS A SUCCESSFUL MATCHMAKER BEHIND THE SCENES? WOULD YOU FOLLOW HER RULES FOR FINDING LOVE?

So, I was secretly hoping for Millionaire Matchmaker to have another week off, but unlucky me got to sit through another episode. I kept my fingers crossed that Patti Stanger would be in Florida for this episode, and Bravo would hire Kim Richards to take her spot. Now that would be a good show, Kim probably would not make it to the office, recruiting sessions, or mixer, but hey the viewers would finally get to see the Millionaire Matchmaker bathroom as Kim does her make-up!

Now to the important issue at hand, Destin and Rachel are still planning their wedding! Haven’t they been engaged for a full three seasons now? Well, my favorite part of the episode was Destin’s adorable offspring! Destin’s son definitely got all the good genes, but where was his Mohawk?

Patti STanger
Is Patti Stanger having a nervous breakdown? Or maybe she is just totally nuts! Or maybe all the plastic surgery has been effecting her brain…

After making several homophobic comments and accusing gay men of being incapable of monogamy on Watch What Happens Live that resulted in a public apology and a chastising statement from Bravo, Patti did it again on The Joy Behar Show! Seriously!

This time the Millionaire Matchmaker (whose client base is probably invisible at this point!) insists, “Gays don’t have a lot of testosterone.”

“I’m talking about that they use both sides of their brain. Straight men only use one side,” Patti, the bio-geneticist continued, explaining how the gay brain works to Joy Behar. “Gay men are very bright, very handsome … they put themselves better together,” Patti asserts. “They dress good, they decorate, they clean, they cook.” Is that maybe a compliment? I’m not sure – I need someone to analyze how the Stanger brain works! Or, actually… maybe not!

Patti offered no excuse or apology for her behavior, nor has Bravo released a statement about this latest incident, but a friend of Patti’s told The Huffington Post, “She finally understands what she has done and instead of continuing to dig herself deeper [into] trouble, she has decided to flee to her family.”

“She’s going to hide out for a while but has learned her lesson,” according to the friend. “From now on she is going to try and be much more careful about what she says.” Well, it may be too late now, Patti!

Are Patti’s comments totally out of line or was she just trying to be funny? Should Patti’s show be canceled after all her insensitive comments?

Following a stint on Watch What Happens Live that left host Andy Cohen visibly disgusted in response to her homophobic and anti-Semitic remarks, things are getting worse for former reality star Patti Stanger!

Now one of Patti’s former clients (who left the club after being dissatisfied with the service she received) is speaking out about the behind the scenes workings of The Millionaire Matchmaker. And surprise, surprise – Patti is just as abrasive off camera!

Bryce Gruber, who appeared on the show as a Millionairess in season four, shares her experience working with Patti and the club. According to Bryce, Patti (who is Jewish, herself) insulted the Jewish-American founder of The Luxury Spot.com, by telling her she looked “too Jewish.” Um… seriously?

“She mentioned several times that my curly hair was ‘too Jewish,’” Bryce continues. “And asked me why I didn’t get my nose fixed for my Bat Mitzvah.”

In addition to basically calling her unattractive, Patti described Bryce – who if you remember from the show was very reticent on her date – as “uptight” during her most recent appearance on WWHL.

And as for Bryce’s match – guess what?! It wasn’t successful! “She didn’t listen to me when I said what I wanted,” Bryce relays of Patti’s matchmaking skills. “She got upset with me when I said I didn’t like any of the men she picked and, off-camera, she pulled me aside and said, ‘If you want to look like a sweetheart to America, you’ll pick the teacher.’ She coerced me.” Wow! Patti is losing credibility (if she ever had any to begin with) by the minute!

Patti’s former assistant of eight years, Chelsea Autumn, is also giving her opinion about working with Patti! Chelsea, who left what she previously called the “claws of Stanger” in 2010 to start her own matchmaking service, Queen of Hearts, explains of Patti’s attitude and behavior: “I think she has a lot of deeper issues that she’s never really dealt with.”

And This isn’t the first time drama concerning Patti’s treatment of others is making headlines! Shortly after leaving the show, Chelsea’s rep gave a very harsh statement about the “constant abuse” associated with working with Patti, which was corroborated when TMZ featured a recorded conversation of Patti berating a stylist!

“I don’t think she loves herself, and if you don’t love yourself, no one else is going to be able to love you,” Chelsea describes, painting a sad picture of the woman who claims she can help anyone find love.

Are you shocked that Patti’s treatment of her clients is even worse behind the scenes?! Do you think Chelsea’s description of Patti is accurate or does she have an ulterior motive? Do you expect there to be another season of The Millionaire Matchmaker?

I’m not sure how it’s news that Millionaire Matchmaker’s Patti Stanger has offended people, but apparently it is!

While appearing on Sunday night’s season premiere of Watch What Happens Live an unedited Patti spouted off about how gays can’t be monogamous and Jewish men lie as a shocked Andy Cohen (who is both gay and Jewish) seemed visibly appalled! And after that little episode I foresee a “cancelled” notice in her future…

When a caller asked about open relationships Patti, who has long been an advocate for monogamy with the couples she’s matched, informed him that, “In the gay world, there’s always going to be open [relationships].” Then when the caller confirmed that he was gay, she actually advocated he pursue open relationships telling him, “Ok, well then you’re ok. There’s Grindr [the online site that connects gay/bisexual men in the same area] for you. Go on Grindr. You’ll have a great time.” Well, I’m sure Grindr ummmm… appreciated the free press!

When a shocked Andy asked: “So wait, the gays can have open relationships?” Patti retorted with: “There’s no curbing the gay!” She continued, explaining: “I’ve tried to curb you people and you just don’t [change]. I’ve decided to throw in the towel and just say, ‘Do what you want. But when you find the right person, you will know.’”

Andy argued back that as a gay man he wants a monogamous relationship, but Patti bit the hand that feeds her, by laughing in his face and demanding to know “When was the last time you had a [serious] boyfriend?” Maybe Patti is upset that Andy fired her bestie Jill Zarin, or something…

Patti continued her barrage of insults aimed at the gay community when she expressed surprise that a gay viewer who spoke to Andy and Patti via Skype was cute, offering this gem:. “First of all, you’re very handsome. I thought you were straight,” she said. “That’s a compliment!”

A confused Andy, wanted to know how that was a compliment and Patti – who really needs a muzzle big time – answered: “Because he’s not queeny. Like you want a queen.” Oh, poor Andy, he looked so distraught!

Patti also defamed the Jewish community when she declared that “Jewish men lie.” Perhaps she’s had some sort of negative experience in that department, but to slander an entire group – a little harsh.

After facing some serious heat for her comments, Patti took to the Twitterz to set the record straight! “Attention male gays: I support you and my comment on [Watch What Happens Live] was to an L.A. guy who can’t find commitment.”

Patti apologized for her offensive remarks, telling US Weekly, “I am so sorry. I did not mean to offend anyone with my comments last night on Watch What Happens Live.” As for Bravo, the network made it clear they do not share the views expressed by Patti with the following statement: “Her comments are not representative of the network’s beliefs and opinions. We apologize for the offense it caused.”

Patti’s comments were even more surprising given that she’s always been an advocate for the gay community – even appearing in a NoH8 campaign. But don’t worry, Patti’s not just giving the gays bad dating advice! Appearing on New York Live she accused single, Manhattan women of being too smart to find a man! And encouraged them to skip talking about their academic accomplishments or using big words if they want to wear a big white dress!

“They don’t like them before they are married,” Patti explained, referring to men not wanting to date intelligent women! “You’ve got to dumb it down a little because men are not that bright.” Oh, Patti… seriously? 1950 called… Now here’s the real question do think this woman has ever made a successful match?

And on last night’s WWHL, Andy rightfully named Patti the Jackhole of the week!

In addition to the latest fiasco, the ratings for Patti’s show have continued to decline. In fact, the episode that aired last Thursday only garnered 809,000 viewers. In comparison, Flipping Out averaged 1.3 million viewers for its most recent season. We have to wonder whether Patti’s days on Bravo are now numbered…

Do you think Patti was serious or joking with her comments? Were you offended by Patti’s remarks? Do you think this incident may result in Bravo canceling Millionaire Matchmaker?

An all new episode of Millionaire Matchmaker aired Sunday on a special night with the single 50-year-old Patti Stanger once again setting up rich singles to no avail!

The theme this week seems to be helping those who typically help others find their loves! Why is Patti not setting herself up? The first bachelor is Steve G. Jones, described as a “famous hypnotherapist” who sometimes helps Patti with her single millionaires. Steve is 42 and divorced. Patti is excited to help Steve find love while Dustin just wonders why he can’t help himself find love by, you know, “hypnotherapizing” himself!

The next bachelor is Creepy McCreepington Gary Coxe, described as a “big time motivational speaker” who has a very long laundry list of what he looks for in a partner. Gary is 46-years-old and looking for a Jessica Simpson type aka a 110-pound blonde (Err has he seen JS lately???), age 29 – 33, is not a career woman and can spend all day cooking for him. Gary would also like his blonde bimbo to be Christian and spiritual. Jesus Barbie anyone? Paging Alexis Bellino! I repeat paging Alexis Bellino!

It’s official. The Bravo network has finally confirmed that Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon, and Cindy Barshop have indeed been fired from the Real Housewives of New York City.

Huffington Post’s Rob Shuter was the first to break the news of the firings last Thursday. Back then, both the network and the ladies denied the news. A report on Friday explained Bravo did not want the news to be made public in the case they decided to bring back one of the fired ladies, if things fell through with any of the new housewives they have cast.

Below is Bravo’s official statement on the issue -

Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan and LuAnn DeLesseps will be returning for season five of The Real Housewives of New York City. We’ve had a fabulous run with all the ladies and appreciate them sharing their lives with our viewers. It is a friendly departure among the other ladies and we continue to have ongoing discussions with them.”

Nice to see the network soften the blow by calling it a “friendly departure.” The fired housewives are also responding to the news. Below are statements released by the ladies to the Hollywood Reporter -

Jill Zarin“Jill is out of town with her husband Bobby and they are visiting her daughter Ally at college for family weekend so she is not speaking with the press. I can tell you that she is very happy and extremely busy with the national launch of her shapewear line Skweez Couture by Jill Zarin which will debut at Lord and Taylor stores across the country this month and then roll out at other national retailers in the coming months. Jill is humbled by the extraordinary amount of media interest in her response and looks forward to personally opening up about all of this very soon and announcing some exciting new projects,” Jill’s rep stated.

Alex McCord“Alex and I are sad that it’s come to this. We had a great four years. We don’t intend for this to be the final time you’ll see us on television. Everything happens for a reason. We are not happy, we’re not sad. It is what it is. We thank our fans. We have tremendous, tremendous outpouring of support. I think even Bravo is surprised by how much support Alex has had. It didn’t change their opinion or didn’t change their decision. And it might not be the end of seeing us on Housewives. It might not be the end of seeing us on Bravo. We don’t know that yet either. There’s a lot to be discussed in the upcoming weeks. We wish the next season well. We’re not going away. We remain happy and long may that continue,” said codependent couple Simon van Kempen and wife Alex.

Cindy Barshop – “Bravo and I parted amicably and I will not be returning for the show. And I’m absolutely thrilled with the opportunity, really am thrilled. And for me, it’s a great decision personally and for my business. It’s going to be an amazing year next year. I’m a hundred percent good with this decision. Everyone knows the Completely Bare spas nationally now…

Nice to see Simon admit that Bravo let Alex go and not the other way around. Kelly has yet to release a statement or comment on the firing. Perhaps she’s too busy sorting out her jelly beans.

When a fan asked Simon on twitter if the reason for their departure had to do with money or the other housewives, Simon responded: “Neither it was 100% @BravoTV’s decision on where they want #RHoNY to go in S5.” Alex on the other hand tweeted that the firing departure was “amicable.” Allrighty Alex! She also stated she is in talks with Bravo for other possible projects.

It appears Alex and Simon are still hoping to change Bravo’s mind as they both re-tweeted campaigns started by their fans to keep them on the show.

A report by E! News on Friday stated Alex and Simon were very shocked by the firing and were also worried about the financial impact of being let go from the show. Bravo paid the RHONY housewives a reported $275,000 per season. E! also reported Jill would try to turn this around to convince the public it was her decision to leave.

In fact, Jill’s BFF Patti Stanger stated on Friday that Jill was the one who decided to quit the show to pursue other opportunities. Uh Uh. “Jill left the show on her own,” said Patti to the Rumor Fix adding that the two are now working together on a yet to be named project. Jill’s rep also confirmed the two are indeed working together.

Bravo has reportedly cast 3 – 4 new housewives to replace the fired ladies.
