Is it just me, or are the “Previously On” clips for Love & Hip Hop Atlanta getting longer and longer with each passing week? Perhaps if there weren’t so many characters stars to keep up with, we wouldn’t need such an extensive reminder of what’s been going on up to this point! Last night’s episode begins as Kalenna douses Rasheeda Frost with her drink. Tony Vick ushers out her wife as Rasheeda complains to Kirk. Kalenna is beyond hurt that Tony would casually mention he thinks she’s suffering from postpartum depression in front of a friend who may spread the news as gossip.
Momma Dee is prepping for her big day with Ernest. She’s flower shopping with the mother of her granddaughter, Erica Dixon. Dee praises Erica and Lil’ Scrappy for being able to co-parent so well together even though they are no longer a couple, and she asks Erica to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. Where is Ashton Kutcher? Is Erica being punked? Dee and Erica have always had a tumultuous relationship, but now that Scrappy and Erica are getting along, Dee would like to repair her friendship with Imani’s mom. Erica is flattered, but she’s going to have to think about the offer.
Last night’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta started with the tail end of a plan so perfect that I can’t imagine anything ever going wrong. As y’all recall, the previous episode ended with Khadiyah being ambushed at a record label party co-hosted by Yung Joc exes (and new allies) Karlie Redd and Sina. It’s always a brilliant idea to try to instigate a fight with your ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend at a party to market for your new your boyfriend, right? Karlie and Sina brag and laugh about riling up KD, but Karlie forgot that her new boyfriend Lyfe Jennings was witnessing the entire debacle. He’s quick to remind her. Lyfe has legal issues, and what if he had to jump in and defend her? He could end up back in hot water! All Karlie took away from that conversation was that Lyfe would defend her honor. Geez.
Margeaux is beyond peeved that she got tricked into a photo shoot by Stevie J. who was trying to get back at Nikko for his antics with Mimi Faust. Having thought she was forging a friendship with Joseline Hernandez, Margeaux goes to the Puerto Rican princess to make sense of the situation. Joseline starts going off on Margeaux and how she fortunate she is to be working with Stevie. She belittles Margeaux for still tending bar and invites her (to put it nicely) to come bleep her bleep if Margeaux has a problem with her. Margeaux finally gets the fuss everyone has been making–this is the crazy lady people warned her about! Margeaux cites Joseline’s anger as being caused by Stevie’s evident love for Mimi before calmly leaving the scene. Smart girl…she clearly watched last season’s reunion.
I know it’s the same manufactured drama as in seasons past, but there’s something about this installment of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta that I find hilariously entertaining! When we left this silly bunch last week, Tammy Riveria was back on the scene to defend her mother-in-law Deb Atney’s honor against the disrespectful (according to her, at least) Kalenna. Fingers are wagging and security is keeping the ladies apart. Kalenna is less than happy that Tammy is yelling about her financial problems and suspects that Rasheeda Frost may have been gossiping about her personal issues. Kalenna’s husband Tony Vick intervenes to see why is wife is causing drama in his club. Tammy pulls Rasheeda aside to share that Kalenna has been speaking smack about her, and Rasheeda is livid. Kalenna wonders why Rasheeda isn’t coming to her aid like she is to Tammy.
Erica Dixon and Lil’ Scrappy are celebrating daughter Imani’sprom tenth birthday with a lavish princess party. The pair is happy to working together to plan a special even for Imani. Bambi tries to keep to herself at the shindig since she was explicitly instructed not to assist with the party. She hates feeling like an outsider, but seeing Scrappy with Imani reminds Bambi of how much she wants a family of her own.
Our favorite reality TV stars cannot get enough of the spotlight during their regularly scheduled time slots, so they take to social media to share even more of their lives with us. And we would not have it any other way. Here’s a roundup of some of our favorite snapshots and selfies from this week. Enjoy.
Well, I certainly didn’t see that coming! Not only did VH1 mess with my head with a Sunday premiere of this week’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta (that I wasn’t able to watch until it’s regularly scheduled time!), but then they go and give Ashley Nicole a girlfriend, totally throwing Rasheeda for a loop. When we last left the crew, Rasheeda had enlisted Erica Dixon to accompany her to a hotel where she thought she’s catch husband Kirk Frost in the act with his new artist. Once they force their way into the hotel room, Rasheeda is searching closets and looking under beds (newsflash, Kirk’s forehead alone isn’t going to fit in any of those places!) as Ashley loudly protests. Next, Erica assesses the situation, and Rasheeda isn’t a good enough actress to feign shock at Ashley’s bed mate. Raheeda admits that she may have been wrong about Ashley’s sexual preference, but she’s not incorrect about Ashley’s disrespectful behavior.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Bambi, but Lil’ Scrappy has been moved by Momma Dee’s romance with Ernest. Bambi has been patient with sporting her own promissory ring. He hands her a tiny box, and Bambi may faint if this is the proposal she’s been hoping for…but alas, Scrappy isn’t ready for that shiznighee called marriagenighzee. He gifts her with a key to his house, but Bambi wants to make sure he gets things squared away with Erica before she calls a moving truck. Erica has been against the couple since day one, and with all the messy child support claims Erica is lodging against Scrappy, Bambi doesn’t want to find herself caught up in the drama.
So Love & Hip Hot Atlanta, right? I hope y’all didn’t crash Fandango’s site trying to get tickets to the movie that surely proves the apocalypse is near. What in the world? Are Stevie J. and Joseline Hernandez the next Brangelina? I digress…let’s backtrack a bit, shall we? Last night’s episode begins with the Jessica Dime/Joseline showdown, except it’s not an actual showdown. Both women want to remind the other of their memories of the past. Jessica wants Shanellequa Bennecourt to recall their friendship and their nights out on the town…and the evening they stayed in together, but all Joseline can recollect is that they once shared a locker at the strip club. For some reason, Joseline has a handful of singles she starts throwing at Jessica, who retaliates by throwing the dollar bill back in Joseline’s face. Before anyone can get bent out of shape over the dollar shower that’s happening, Jessica is escorted out by production assistants. Really, ladies? I had higher hopes for you both.
Kirk Frost is working with new artist Ashley Nicole who is rightfully nervous about how his wife Rasheeda will feel about her upcoming performance given the recent back and forth between the two. Ashley is hoping to prove herself to Rasheeda so that her contract doesn’t get shredded due to her disrespectful behavior. Rasheeda prides herself on being a businesswoman, so she’s happy to oblige, and she vows to Erica Dixon that she know there is no funny business between Ashley and her husband. If this girl is going to make her money, that’s fine by Rasheeda. Of course, Ashley’s auto tune lip sync and barely there outfit leave Rasheeda with a bad taste in her mouth…that and the fact that Kirk introduced her as his “sexy new artist.” Not able to read her audience, Ashley approaches Rasheeda immediately after her song who is happy to give her constructive criticism. Ashley teases that Kirk picked out her outfit (it was classier than what she’d first chosen), but she needs Rasheeda’s input on her future career. Ashley is humble, and she wants Rasheeda and Kirk to be one happy family on her upcoming promotional tour. Erica can’t believe her ears, and Ashley has the somewhat good sense to exit before she further sticks her foot in her mouth.
The reality star, who can be seen every Monday night embroiled in fake drama with his wife and various younger third parties from the music industry and random sports bars, was arrested on Sunday for blatantly violating traffic laws laws while joy riding on an unregistered three-wheeler…and Kirk wasn’t the only one!
So, there definitely wasn’t a lot of love being shown on last week’sLove & Hip Hop Atlanta. Margeaux expressed her desire to separate from husband and sex tape star extraordinaire Nikko, and Khadiyah sent Yung Joc packing after he couldn’t commit. After all, he’s got all the members of his baby mama club wanting to dry his tears in the wake of their break-up. Best friends Mimi Faust and Ariane had it out over Mimi’s participation in said tape’s leak, and Kalenna and Tony faced tension in light of his new investment…and his decision to no longer manage his wife’s career.
It seems the only couple that is doing halfway decently is Rasheeda and Kirk Frost. Funny how quickly the tides change! The episode begins with Joc and Rasheeda discussing the statuses of their respective relationships. Rasheeda chides Joc that he can’t keep hopping from one ex to the next, and Joc changes the subject to share how much Kirk claims to love his wife these days. Joc requests that Rasheeda intervene on behalf of he and KD, and she agrees. Anything to get him off her and Kirk’s sofa! Across town, Jessica Dime is meeting with Dawn. She’s tired of letting Mimi barely manage her career. The women are getting massages and complaining about Mimi’s lack of professionalism. Jessica wonders when she’ll get to work with Stevie J., but Dawn reminds her that Stevie isn’t going to be doing anything anytime soon. Jessica needs to come on board with Dawn’s management, and Dawn promises a big payout for appearances.
