I don’t know about you but I consider this season’s Real Housewives Of Atlanta reunion to be basically an extension of last season’s Real Housewives Of Atlanta reunion, albeit without anyone’s clip-in hair pieces being used to mop the stage floor.
Porsha Williams explains there “wasn’t a lot of screaming and yelling” during the reunion because the women just “wanted to be heard” and “clear up whatever the misunderstandings were” – although there also wasn’t a lot of progress made!
“People were definitely upset last year and lashed out with anger. This year I feel like people were very emotional. It was really similar to the therapy session,” Porsha describes. Although Porsha isn’t really in the business of clearing up any of her shade – in fact she stands by accusing Peter Thomas of cheating (why would she? No shade), and her refusal to apologize to Kenya Moore over last season’s fight.
NeNe Leakes has 99 problems… and they’re all her fault! Her problems include: wigs, friendships, successes, rejection of Claudia Jordan, saying what she said because she said it… NeNe’s refrain throughout the Real Housewives Of Atlanta reunion, was “You’re right, I’m wrong.” Probably. No, it’s not NeNe who has a million problems – it’s RHOA… This was supposed to be the SEASON 7 reunion, but almost everything discussed was a SEASON 6 issue. Dejaview!
The only things different are Apollo is incarcerated and Claudia is lapping up everyone’s storyline dregs like she’s been through the dessert on a stallion booty with no name and it’s been good to get into the shade. In Atlanta no one can remember your name unless you try extra hard with the reads and the complaints!
Let’s talk outfits: Porsha Williams‘ was the worst – it looked like a cheap shower curtain. And that train! That girl and her issues with trains. #UndergroundRailroad.
Tonight’s guests on Watch What Happens Live were Kenya Moore and Daisy Lewellyn from Blood, Sweat and Heels. Daisy shared an update on her cancer battle and Kenya shared her thoughts on the reunion nonsense tonight. Kenya also dished on her boyfriend and her Brandi Glanville feud.
Andy mentions his surprise that Phaedra shared tonight on the reunion that she isn’t filing for divorce from Apollo Nida. Kenya says it was it news to her, too. She also says that Porsha Williams’ new accusations that Kordell cheated was something she hadn’t heard before. “I heard the opposite, but…”
Tonight the THREE-Part Real Housewives Of Atlanta reunion begins – meaning the drama between NeNe Leakes and Kandi Burruss will finally explode! Actually it seems like the entire reunion is NeNe-central (sorry NoNeensters!) because as Kandi explains, “She had a break-through.”
“She was bringing up some things in her past that really struck a nerve with her. Like talking about things in her childhood.” says Kandi of NeNe’s sobbing meltdown. “It brought about a different emotion.”
Apparently NeNe’s meltdown was a bonding moment for the group as all the women comforted her. “It was better than last year’s [reunion]. There was no hair pulling, so I guess that was progress,” Kandi laughs. “But, how do you have all this arguing and then skip off?”
Cynthia said she’s dabbled in acting over the years but she obviously focused on modeling, adding, “More recently, over the past couple of years I have been cast for different roles, and I have fallen head over heels in love with acting.”
“So when Kenya told me about her pilot and that she was interested in Noelle’s dad, Leon, for one of the roles,” explained Cynthia, “I immediately let her know that I wanted to audition for it. Up until that point, Kenya knew nothing of my acting ambitions, and seemed a bit reluctant to let me try out. I knew that if she gave me the opportunity to audition, I would only have one chance to impress her. I showed up at the audition on time, in character, totally prepared, dressed to impress, and showed out!! I landed the role!!”
When asked if she saw NeNe in Cinderella, Phaedra said, “I most certainly did see NeNe on Broadway, and she was absolutely fantastic, as you would expect. Her performance was dazzling and I was particularly impressed with how she made the role her own. It can be difficult to portray such a well-known character, let alone add your own style and flair to such an established role.”
Claudia gave Kenya Moore‘s pilot, Life Twirls On, a rave review. “I thought it was cute and very fun to watch. The thing about Kenya I really like is that she is comfortable laughing at herself and not taking herself too seriously. She is entertaining. I thought Cynthia [Bailey] was really funny and totally committed to the part. It was fun to watch it with the girls, especially the part when Kenya played her own hair care commercial during the pilot! That was hilarious.”
