With season nine of The Real Housewives of Atlanta coming to our TV screens this Sunday, we are looking forward to new drama from the familiar faces we’ve grown to love (and scream at) for years. Although there won’t be any new women, there will be new alliances, new divorces, and some fresh shade. Based on the previews alone, this looks like a season not to be missed.
Despite Peternot wanting the divorce, Cynthia says things are moving along without issue. “It’s going to be a pretty simple divorce. We’re doing a settlement agreement,” she explained. “We don’t have children together. We’re not fighting over custody.” Or money apparently? Peter currently lives in Charlotte to focus on his burgeoning bar empire there, and Cynthia is still in Atlanta. They’re selling the home they lived in as a couple.
Chateau Sheree is finally finished and “amazing,” according to Kandi. “It took her a minute, but she got it together,” laughed Kandi. The entire cast attended Sheree Whitfield‘s housewarming party which also included “a couple of extra Housewives.”
The Real Housewives Of Atlanta star filed for divorce in 2014 when Apollo began serving an eight-year prison sentence for about three zillion counts of fraud. Since then, Phaedra has been focusing on her children and trying to disentangle herself from her marriage.
Now that she’s finally a single lady again, Phaedra is not entertaining the idea of reconciling with Apollo once he’s released, even if he IS a changed man!
When asked what’s going on in her love life, Kenya “confesses” that Matt is 16 years younger than her. She says he’s “6’7″, chocolate, and full of muscles.” Adding, “He’s about 16 years younger than me. So there is quite an age difference, but he’s wonderful. He’s kind, he’s sweet, he’s intelligent. And he loves me.”
Phaedra shared that Mr. President, who is now 3 years old, had some issues last Halloween and decided that this year he wanted a totally unique costume so nobody else can copy it! “Last year Mr. President, my baby, had a Halloween meltdown so this year he said he’s going as a plant. He said ‘no one will have my costume if I’m just a plant’.”
On helping out with the renovation of her Atlanta home: “I found this shell of a house. Dilapidated, it was about to fall over, but the bones were good and it was a modern home, which is less than 1% in Atlanta, so I bought it right away. I began this extensive renovation. I mean, I had no plumbing, no lighting, nothing in there. So I basically built it from the ground up. I even did things with my own hands, like my fireplaces. There’s a lot of love that went into the home and a lot of work.”
Will we see the demise of her marriage to Peter play out on this season of RHOA? “Yes, you will see it play out. Peter and I have always been very transparent in our relationship and it’s worked for us and against us at the same time. But, just being on the show, I think it’s important for us to keep it real, like you guys do [laughs]. So, yes you will see it play out and um, it’s kind of hard because we got married on the show. We’re the only couple that actually got married on The Real Housewives of Atlanta and to have to go to through, you know, a divorce on the show, it’s not easy, but I think the only thing more tragic than divorce is being in something that’s not working anymore.”
