I’m not a doctor, I just play one while I watch TV, so I really must psychoanalyze Vicki Gunvalson. After years of watching Real Housewives, I fully expect ‘The Crazies’ from these ladies (and yes, I am even waiting on Heather Dubrow to have her moment!), but in the case of Vicki there are obviously some deep roots connected to the Brooks Ayers mess.Unlike the other ladies, I am lucky to observe a respectful distance from Vicki’s crazies, which likely makes me a bit more compassionate.
If Vicki would just be honest – ha! – I think it would go a long way in regaining esteem among her castmates. If she would just be open about how she loved Brooks so much and so hard, that she couldn’t force herself to even consider the truth, and just admit that yes – at some point she did have red flags, but so desperately didn’t want to know so she put on blinders. I believe that then she would be able to begin healing with these women – and the audience.
Andy wants to know all about Vicki’s new beau Steve in a speed round of questions. Did Steve watch the show before dating her? “No.” Does he know all about Brooks? “Yes, I told him everything.” Has he met Brooks? “God no.” Have the other ladies met him? “Yes.” She then shares a story of Tamra “frisking” him for a “pistol” and winds up grabbing him in the crotch. Vicki reveals that Briana does like Steve and that she has not taken him to Andeles yet. Which Househusband does he get along with the best? “Michael.” How does he feel about the show? Vicki says he just knows it’s her career and her work and he supports whatever she does. They’ve been dating for two months.
We spent the entire season chasing down Brooks’ diagnosis (which came back “LIARFACE!”). After Brooks announced his decision to eschew chemo, everyone just wanted Brooks and Vicki to prove emphatically that he had cancer – non-Hodgkin Lymphoma to be exact, instead he did some Earthing and drank smoothies.
I have no idea why this is a news story because I feel like I hear this Vicki starts this “rumor” every year, but Vicki Gunvalson has revealed that she almost did not come back to Real Housewives of Orange County. I never believe it because we all know how much pride she takes in being the “OG of the OC,” but she likes to spread this possibility around in between every season it seems.
Aside from this “revelation,” Vicki also shares her thoughts on her break up with Brooks Ayers, trashes the rest of the cast for not getting over the craziness that happened last year, and comes for her frienemy Tamra Judge– hard.
We’re just days away from the new season of The Real Housewives of Orange County! Last night Housewives past and present gathered together to celebrate the premiere and also the 10 year anniversary of the show!
Season 8 was Heather’s second season on the show and one comment production made was that Heather was basically forced into it by her husband Terry Dubrow, and was eager and anxious to get Alexis replaced with one of her friends. On her podcast Heather Dubrow’s World, she insists none of that is true.
“Some of the producers have some revisionist history going on!” scoffs Heather. Heather insists she never conspired to have Alexis replaced by a friend or chased them down with a casting suggestion after Alexis fled the CUT Fitness party. “That never happened,” Heather swears. “I had no one!”
