This week on RuPaul's All Stars Drag Race the queens played homage to the ladies of girl group fame. And nobody melts a drag queen's heart (or mine!) like Diana Ross! Girl groups for-ev-ah!
Thing start out with a little SheMail and then Ru appears in the workroom to let the girls know it's time to get their cheer on. The mini challenge is all about Cheer-Reading where the queens have to make a rhyme that throws shade at their opponents. Given that the remaining queens is all nicies and Miss Congenialities there was about as much shade as a Phoenix summer – well except for where Yarlexis is concerned.
It seems there is a lingering vendetta that the two girls shouldn't be the shining star of the judges eyes last week and they get hassled over their language skills, but it was all in all pretty tame. It reminded me of that 80's music video "Hey Mickey!" That's how cutsie pie this was.
Last night on RuPaul's All Stars Drag Race a surprise elimination took place as we headed into the final three. Synergy really whips through 'em fast, doesn't it?
For the mini challenge the sometimes ladies had to go back to their roots – manhood. Ru challenged them to a butch guy photoshoot. If you imagined it was sort of a mess, you were right. Manila Luzon shoved a banana in her pants.Chad Michaels looked like "Burt Reynolds and Cher had a baby," according to Jujubee.
Those photos were TERRIBLE! Poor Latrice Royale lamented about how she has difficulty feeling sexy as a man – or a woman.
In the end Yarlexis was able to snag the sexy real men photo win, which isn't saying much.
For the main challenge Ru requested the girls punk the public. Dressed in drag they had to play a little game called "Queens Behaving Badly." Ru carted them all over to Hollywood Blvd where they had to harass tourists and the like into doing ridiculous pranks called upon by their partners through an ear piece. Each prank had a score. It was sort of a street-side variety show and it was kind of interesting but sort of low-brow.
Last night on RuPaul's All Stars Drag Race the queens were still in dynamic duos and working on that suddenly appearing S in C-U-N-T-S. This time they had to stage a celebrity impersonation sketch comedy variety show. It was a laugh riot. Or not.
Before all that they were challenged to a little game called #inDaButtRu where they had to prove how well they knew their partners. Even down to the undies they wear out of drag! Rujubee wins and their prize: two creamy pies in the face.
For the main challenge it was RuPaul's Gaff-in Variety Show! Not only did they have to choose a celebrity to impersonate, they had do a comedy routine that played off their partners. I love this challenge and this is where the show really excels – however I didn't think anyone was that funny. Just me?
I love it when the queens have to really stretch and show off their comedic chops. Vicki Lawrence from Mama's House was the guest judge and she also starred in the comedy routines.
They're baaack with a wigence and a fury of sequins! And these girls work it better than any girl I know. Oh please, Latrice "Mother Effing" Royale, please, please descend upon my house in full paint and do my make-up before unleashing me forth into the world. Mama needs to go to church and she needs her everlasting glory!
Before we go any further let me also profess my undying love for Chad Michaels (and of course Cher). I spread La Mer on my toast too, bitch.
