Russell Armstrong

Taylor Armstrong and her now deceased husband Russell Armstrong grace the latest cover of UsWeekly magazine under the heading “Reality Suicide Dark Secrets Exposed, Destroyed by Their Pursuit of Fame.”

While the mag touches on a lot of issues with the couple, perhaps the most shocking tidbit is the fact that Taylor, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, might have tried to capitalize on the tragic death of Russell. UsWeekly reports that Taylor’s rep “tried to shop her story to press outlets for $100,000.” Wow. One can only assume the rep was doing this with Taylor’s consent.

An insider also tells UsWeekly that in the days following Russell’s death, Taylor was asking how much money she would get from his estate. Russell’s attorney has however publicly stated Russell was broke and had no assets at the time of his death.

The mag touches on how the Armstrongs lived beyond their means while pursuing fame. In fact, family and friends of the duo paint a portrait of an ambitious, financially overextended couple desperate to be on TV and to live in the most coveted zip code at all costs.

Russell’s sister Laurie Kelsoe spoke to the mag stating that proud trophy wife Taylor was desperate to be on RHOBH: “It was all she wanted.” A show insider adds that the Oklahoma native, who bragged about her frequent cosmetic procedures and threw her daughter a $60,000 birthday party last season, “had a need to prove she was worthy.”

However it wasn’t just Taylor, whose opening credits for season 2 was intended to be “I fought too hard for this zip code to go home now,” who wanted fame. Russell was also on board for the ride. “He thought it was a good way for them to make money,” adds the source. This falls in line with a comment Russell made in one of his last interviews in which he called Bravo “bastards” while stating publicity from the show was good for his businesses.

And in other to get on the show, Taylor and Russell exaggerated their wealth. “Bravo cast them because they claimed they owned their house and had a real estate portfolio and major businesses. None of it was true,” says a source. The Armstrongs apparently pretended to own their modest $9,000-a-month rental house in L.A.’s Bel Air Crest neighborhood.

Once she joined the show, Taylor tried to keep up with the Joneses. “She was jealous of the way the other women on the show were living,” says a Taylor source. Laurie goes on to add that Taylor racked up a $90,000 American Express bill in July alone. “Russell was spending more than he made,” says his lawyer Ronald Richards. “He maxed out his credit cards.”

Russell’s grieving business partner John Indelicato however brings up a good point in the article when he wonders why Russell ever sought the spotlight: “If you have skeletons and don’t want them out there, you don’t go on a reality show.” Very valid point.

While it appears there were no takers for the $100,000 interview Taylor’s rep was shopping around, the NY Post is reporting today that Taylor is in talks with Bravo about doing an hour long sit-down interview.

“Bravo wants to do a sit-down, one-hour special with [Bravo exec VP and host] Andy Cohen,” said a source. Another source added, “They’ve been discussing options for a week, but no programming has been formalized.”

And while a Bravo rep tried to deny the report by stating, “It’s not true, there are no plans like that,” it seems they forgot to send a memo to Taylor’s rep who confirmed there had been talks. “There is dialogue with Bravo, but no decisions have been made. Anything would be conjecture,” said Taylor’s rep.

The Post used the words “negotiating for an interview” so it would appear there is money involved. Taylor’s rep however makes it clear her client is still grieving over her loss. The rep states Taylor is “still devastated” and hasn’t personally engaged in any talks.

And finally, the current issue of the National Enquirer posted some older photos of Taylor and Russell together including photos of Russell’s sons from his previous relationships. Those photos are below. You can read more about the couple in the current issues of UsWeekly and the National Enquirer. Photo credit: WENN.

Russell Armstrong, estranged husband of Beverly Hills Real Housewife Taylor Armstrong, was honored yesterday at a memorial service at Forest Lawn in Burbank, California a week after his apparent suicide. Taylor reportedly gave the eulogy while wearing her wedding ring, telling the crowd, “People didn’t know the Russell, I knew.”

Taylor told the story of Russell’s proposal, and how he had one of his son’s present her the engagement ring so she knew she was accepted by his children. She also discussed the cross Russell always wore which was engraved with his children’s initials. He added Taylor’s initials to the cross as well, hoping she would help him keep his children close. “I will keep that promise,” Taylor said in her speech.

Neither Russell’s two sons from a previous relationship or Kennedy, his daughter with Taylor, were in attendance. Radaronline reports that Taylor thought her daughter would be too young to understand what was happening.

An insider reveals, “Taylor doesn’t think it’s in Kennedy’s best interests to go to the memorial. It’s very hard to grasp as a 5-year-old, and given the way in which Russell died, well, Taylor doesn’t want Kennedy to accidentally overhear someone talking about Russell’s suicide. Taylor is protecting Kennedy, period. This little girl has been through enough with her parent’s divorce, and now having to deal with her dad’s death.”

Russell’s family was absent from yesterday’s funeral, which was not filmed by Bravo. A second service is planned in his native Texas. Russell’s body was cremated, and his ashes were divided between Taylor and his parents.

While her daughter was absent, Taylor had the support of her fellow Beverly Hills cast mates. UsWeekly reports Lisa Vanderpump, Adrienne Maloof-Nassif and husband Dr. Paul Nassif, Kyle and Kim Richards, as well as New York Housewife Ramona Singer. Even though some of her relationships with the ladies were rocky, she decided to invite all of them to the memorial service.

A source claims, “A lot of thought and consideration went into Taylor’s decision to invite the entire cast. In the end, Taylor didn’t want to exclude anyone, and even though she doesn’t get along with all of them, Taylor wanted them there. The girls have been very supportive to her throughout this entire tragedy. Taylor needs her friends around her more than ever.”

Photos are below of the RHOBH cast attending the funeral.

Meanwhile RadarOnline is now reporting today that Taylor is telling her close friends Bravo is not to blame for Russell’s death and that she wants the network to go ahead with its scheduled Sep. 5 premiere.

A source close to Taylor states that Taylor feels “Russell’s suicide wasn’t caused by the show or Bravo. Russell just simply cracked over ongoing legal and financial issues. The show bears no responsibility for his death, neither does the network.” The source continues, “In fact, Bravo has been extremely supportive of Taylor during this tragedy.”

And despite a report that stated Bravo had decided to postpone the premiere, the source states the network will likely go ahead with the scheduled premiere. “It looks like the show will indeed premiere on September 5. Editing is still being done on the show. Russell is either going to be edited down, or completely out of the show. However, Bravo and the show won’t be ignoring the Russell’s suicide. They simply can’t, to do so, would be disrespectful to the situation and what Taylor is going through. It will be addressed in a manner that is dignified and appropriate,” the source adds.

Days after his tragic passing, one of the last interviews Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Russell Armstrong gave has now been released.

In the interview with TheFix.com, we get a better picture of what Russell’s mindset might have been weeks before he took his own life. According to The Fix, a blog about addiction and recovery, Russell, 47, had longtime interest in addiction and recovery, brought on by his father’s alcoholism and his sister’s crystal meth addiction.

Russell, a venture capitalist, told The Fix he and Taylor Armstrong had recently invested in a number of rehabs, and were seeking to build a “rehab empire.” When talking about Bravo, he seemed conflicted — on one hand calling them “bastards” while also stating the “publicity” from the show has been good for his businesses. Excerpts from Russell’s interview below -

Russell On Bravo -

“The Russell you see on T.V. has nothing to do with my real personality. He’s just a stock character created by Bravo’s evil overlords. That’s not me you see up there. It’s just a character I play on TV.”

• Everything you see on that show is bullshit. Those Bravo bastards take every little argument out of context and magnify it for the cameras. They think that tension drives ratings, and of course they’re right.”

• “At first I was a little annoyed about all the bullshit, but then I realized it’s not so bad to be a celebrity. The thing is, all the publicity has been great for my business.”

And over the weekend, Russell’s sister Laurie Kelsoe, a 45-year-old mother of two, broke her silence to defend her brother against mounting accusations of violence and a secret gay past. In the shocking interview, Laurie completely slams Taylor, calling her a “sticky-fingered social climber,” as well as “a liar and a thief.” Excerpts from Laurie’s interview below -

Laurie On Her Sister-in-law Taylor -

• Taylor, an Oklahoma cheerleader whose original name was Shana Hughes, later changed her name to Taylor Ford, and claimed to be a member of the Ford family. “But we had a friend who knew all the Fords and they didn’t know anything about her,” said Laurie. “We knew she was a phony from the beginning, but Russell wouldn’t hear of it.”

• “Taylor is a liar and a thief,” Laurie continued, “Her lifetime ambition was to become a Housewife, and she got what she wanted. You know, she was pregnant when they got married, and I don’t think that was an accident. She wanted a man, she wanted tons of money and she wanted to be in the limelight. She’s just a gold-digger who reinvented herself and dragged my brother down in the process.”

• Laurie claims that Russell had reluctantly agreed to appear on the show to satisfy his wife’s social ambitions. “He spent all his savings to maintain Taylor’s illusion that they were wealthier than they were,” she said, “He did anything to make sure she was happy, but nothing was ever enough.”

• Horrified by the media’s allegations about him, she’s eager to set the record straight. “My brother is not gay. He’s not into S &M. His biggest mistake was falling in love with Taylor, which is a form of masochism I guess.”

• On the $65,000 party that Taylor threw for her five-year old Kennedy: “It was a complete embarrassment to everyone in the family. It was a revolting use of money that could have gone to pay for the college of Russell’s two other children.”

Laurie On Bravo -

• Laurie also alleges that Bravo execs, unhappy with early footage of the new season, told Taylor she would be fired if she didn’t amp up the drama. “Well, they got what they wanted,” said Laurie. “Russell only did this to please his wife. Bravo never told him, ‘We are going to torment you, destroy your marriage, empty your life and rip you apart, now will you please sign on the dotted line?’”

• The Armstrong family is now reportedly planning to sue Bravo for more than $50 million for its alleged culpability in Russell’s death. “I hold Bravo absolutely responsible for Russell’s death,” says Laurie. “When the show first started, he thought these people were his friends, but they ended up stabbing him in the back.”

Laurie went on to deny the rumors that came out last week alleging Russell feared a tell-all book would reveal his secrets. “He is not a homosexual. He’s not a wife beater. He’s not a crook. He was a decent and loving guy,” she said. “All these news stories mention that he went into bankruptcy but they don’t mention that he paid back every dime he ever owed. They’re just slandering my brother.” Laurie also admits that Russell suffered from depression.

And finally, following allegations by Taylor that Russell was physically abusive to her, Entertainment Tonight stated Monday night that it had viewed “graphic” images of Taylor following one of the alleged abuse incidents.

“I’ve seen shocking photos of Taylor with a deeply bruised right eye and a terrible trauma that stretched from here (the mouth) to here (the eye socket),” host Chris Jacobs said. “We are not ready to show them to you just yet, but I can tell you that it looks as though she was hit in the eye with tremendous force.” As of the moment, it is unclear whether or not ET plans to show the images.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON RUSSELL’S COMMENTS ABOUT BRAVO AND LAURIE’S COMMENTS ABOUT TAYLOR? SHOULD ET RELEASE TAYLOR’S IMAGES?

After TMZ reported that Taylor Armstrong was once beaten so badly by her late husband Russell Armstrong, to the point that she needed surgery, many wondered why neither Taylor nor the doctor(s) who performed the surgery on her failed to alert the police.

Fast forward to today and TMZ is now touching on that issue. According to TMZ, sources state the doctor who performed surgery on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star failed to report the incident to police even though medical professionals who suspect domestic abuse are required to report it by law.

The alleged incident is said to have occurred in June. Russell allegedly beat Taylor so badly to the point that he broke her cheek bones. And when Taylor informed her costars Camille Grammer and Kyle Richards of the incident, Russell reportedly sent Camille a threatening email.

TMZ adds that the cops never interviewed Taylor because no one reported the incident. TMZ also makes it clear that the surgeon who performed the surgery was NOT Adrienne Maloof‘s hubby, Dr. Paul Nassif. In addition to the doctor, the hospital staff also failed to report the incident.

RadarOnline adds to the TMZ report by stating Taylor did not get the cops involved because she wanted to protect her 5-year-old daughter Kennedy. “She told me she was trying to protect Kennedy,” a source said of Taylor’s decision not to file a police report. “She said that she didn’t want Kennedy to know and she knew that Russell would never harm their daughter… Kennedy would hear them yelling behind closed doors but she didn’t witness any violence.”

Meanwhile, a week after Russell took his own life, the Huffington Post is now reporting he was never paid by Bravo to appear on the RHOBH.

“The only people that get paid to be on the show [are] the Housewives,” a member of Bravo’s Housewives franchise reveals. “Some of the husbands signed the same contracts as their wives without the financial compensation and others like Jill Zarin’s husband, Bobby, sign a day release every time they appear in front of the camera. Most of the husbands are happy to be on the show to support their wives’ dreams.”

“No one has become extremely wealthy from the money they get from the show,” adds an insider. “Last season, the ladies on the New York franchise earned $265,000 for the entire season, while the men earned nothing — except Alex’s husband [Simon] who was paid separately for a web-based show he did.”

While Russell’s attorney has publicly stated Russell suicide was likely a result of his mounting financial problems and impending divorce, his family, his mother specifically, has blamed Bravo saying Russell couldn’t handle the pressure of being a reality TV villain.

For the time being, Bravo has confirmed it will indeed edit the upcoming RHOBH season. While it was reported last week that the Sep. 5 season premiere will be pushed back at least a week, the network reiterated again over the weekend that no decision has been made regarding the season 2 premiere.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE LATEST TMZ REPORT? SHOULD THE HUSBANDS BE PAID BY BRAVO?

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong made her first public appearance days after her estranged husband Russell Armstrong took his own life.

Taylor, 40, was pictured above Friday as she attended Russell’s memorial service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in L.A. Taylor tried not to be photographed as she hid under a shawl, sunglasses and a fur blanket.

A source who was present told Us Weekly that Taylor “was clearly distraught.” An onlooker added, “The people traveling with her were comforting her and wanted to get her inside the building as quickly as possible.” Taylor reportedly spent almost two hours inside the chapel, before quietly exiting from a side door into a black SUV.

Meanwhile, there seems to be trouble brewing between Taylor and Russell’s family. Despite the fact that Taylor recently filed for divorce, she was still legally married to Russell at the time of his death and therefore has authority over his funeral arrangements.

Russell’s attorney Ronald Richards tells RadarOnline that Russell’s parents and sister have been left in the dark about his funeral plans. “I am deeply disgusted that Taylor would use her family law attorney to create cover, by lying to me over a period of days, on her behalf in writing that she would share the funeral location and time with my client’s mother, father, sister and other family members,” said Ronald.

“Instead, no one has contacted them and it is apparent now that Taylor is using this death to further injure the Armstrongs. As if filing for divorce was not enough, this act of cutting out his mom, dad, and sister is frankly, despicable… Laws need to be changed that a spouse who files for divorce should be removed at the time of filing from control over someone’s remains to prevent the grotesque second tragedy that is occurring here,” Ronald added.

After RadarOnline posted that story, Taylor’s family law attorney, Troy Christiansen, denied Ronald’s claims to TMZ, stating Taylor is “outraged” at his statements.

While Troy admits there was a conflict over whether Russell’s body would stay in L.A. or be taken to Texas, he adds that it’s all been resolved and everyone is in agreement. Troy states that both Taylor and Russell’s family are all in agreement over the arrangements including Russell’s wish to be cremated in the case of his death.

After TMZ posted their story, Ronald told RadarOnline: “They [Taylor's reps] have now provided one relative in the family the information [about the funeral plans]. They still have not called the mother, father, or sister. An hour and a half after after this story ran, they provided the information.”

TELL US: THOUGHTS ON THE LATEST?

The Bravo network is now officially confirming it will in fact edit the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 2 in light of Russell Armstrong’s death.

In a statement given to Variety, Bravo’s president Frances Berwick states: “Contrary to what is being reported, we have not made a decision to change our original premiere date but we are in the process of re-editing the show.”

A report by the Hollywood Reporter however states Bravo is indeed planning to push back the Sept. 5 premiere at least one week and possibly longer. The cast and crew of the show were reportedly informed by Bravo of the delay earlier this week. Insiders reveal that some close to the production of the show are actually encouraging Bravo to scrap the season altogether. “People are concerned about being associated with the show and his passing,” a source states.

As of the moment, Bravo however has no plans to cancel the season. And while the crumbling marriage of Russell and Taylor Armstrong was set to play a key storyline this season, it appears Russell might not have had many appearances on the show. THR reports Russell does not appear in the premiere episode sent to television critics, though Taylor is seen agonizing over attending marriage counseling with him and is shown shopping for lingerie to help heat up their sex life.

One person who is making it crystal clear that she wants Bravo to cancel the new season is Russell’s mother. John Anne Hotchkiss sent a stern warning to the TV network on Thursday during an interview on HLN. “Better not air one frame of my son — or else!” said Anne. Russell’s family reportedly feels Bravo is to blame for his death and are said to be considering suing the network.

In other news, just two weeks after the National Enquirer first reported that the alleged beatings of Taylor in the hands of Russell were much more brutal than what she told PEOPLE magazine, TMZ is now confirming the same story, citing Taylor had to be hospitalized following one of those beatings.

According to TMZ, Taylor secretly revealed to cast members that she was beaten so badly by Russell to the point that she had to undergo surgery. Even worse, when he found out she she told her castmates, he sent Camille Grammer a threatening email.

This described incident reportedly occurred right before filming for season 2 of RHOBH was set to began. Sources say Taylor was severely beaten when Russell hit her in the face so hard he cracked the bones in her cheeks. Sources add that there are pictures of the injuries and they are “horrific.” Wow.

Taylor, who was hospitalized as a result of the beating, tried to keep it a secret, except she couldn’t show her face for weeks, and feared Bravo would fire her for being uncooperative and flaky. She eventually decided to confide in Kyle Richards and Camille, who both urged her to tell Bravo the truth.

Taylor eventually went back home and told Russell about her conversation with her costars. Russell reacted by sending Camille a “very threatening” email with one source who read it saying it read like “the rantings of a lunatic.” Taylor’s injuries were reportedly so bad that shooting was delayed for several weeks.

As we reported a while back, Taylor attended two events on June 4 and June 5 with Russell. On both days, she had on giant sunglasses. If these reports are true, and in light of this recent tragedy, Taylor should be thankful she and her daughter Kennedy still have their lives.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON BRAVO EDITING THE SHOW & DELAYING THE PREMIERE? AND THOUGHTS ON THE TMZ STORY? DO YOU BELIEVE TAYLOR WAS PHYSICALLY ABUSED?

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 2 Cast

Following this week’s tragedy involving Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Russell Amstrong, new reports are now stating the Bravo network remains in limbo over what to do about the season two premiere.

The second season, which is set to premiere less than 3 weeks away on Sep. 5, was set to feature the failing marriage of Taylor Armstrong and Russell as a major storyline. In fact reports even stated Bravo was going to touch on the physical abuse claims made by Taylor.

But in light of the recent tragedy, the network is now considering postponing the premiere or editing it. A show insider tells UsWeekly they plan to “review” the footage and “probably re-edit it. They’re going to go back and probably take stuff out, to make sure they’re being sensitive to the situation.”

Andy Cohen also acknowledged the situation in a recent blog posting, “We’re all still trying to process yesterday’s very sad news, and looking at how to proceed with the series, which has finished primary production and was set to premiere on Labor Day. We’ll let you know what we decide when we do. In the meantime, we’re sending our thoughts and prayers to Taylor and the rest of Russell’s family.”

As of the moment, it’s unclear whether the late Russell will be edited out completely, or whether his death will even be addressed on the show. Other reports also state Bravo execs held a “crisis” meeting with the cast last night at Adrienne Maloof’s mansion. The network once again reportedly told the housewives not to talk to the media.

As for Taylor, PEOPLE magazine is reporting on how she’s coping following Russell’s sudden death. “She’s not talking to anyone, she’s not leaving the house at this point,” a source tells PEOPLE. “Taylor is behind closed doors, surrounded by her family… She’s with Kennedy.”

Meanwhile Russell’s attorney Ronald Richards continues his media press tour. In a new interivew with RadarOnline, Ronald once again makes it clear the Armstrongs have zero assets revealing even their home was being rented. “This was most likely going to be a no asset divorce because neither one of them have any. There just isn’t any money, period,” said Ronald. Should he be telling the media this? Isn’t this confidential?

“Taylor has to go back to work, period. She has a kid to feed, and Taylor has very expensive taste. Taylor has family in Orange County so she might move in with them. It’s just to soon to make those decisions,” he adds.

When asked if Russell had a life insurance policy, Ronald revealed he wasn’t aware of one. “I asked that question and no one I know is aware of one,” Russell’s attorney says. Wow. Russell and Taylor have a 5-year-old daughter together, while Russell has 2 sons from previous relationships.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE LATEST? SHOULD BRAVO GO AHEAD WITH THE PREMIERE? SHOULD RUSSELL’S LAWYER STOP TALKING TO THE MEDIA? SURPRISED THEY HAVE NO ASSETS?

Just days after he committed suicide, there are now many reports as to why Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Russell Armstrong might have taken his own life.

According to a shocking new report by RadarOnline, Russell was not only bisexual, but might have taken his own life because a third party had informed him they would be making that revelation in a tell-all book about him.

In fact, Radar claims Russell’s alleged bisexuality was the real reason Taylor Armstrong finally decided to file for divorce last month, and not because of mounting financial problems or alleged physical abuse.

“When Taylor found out about Russell’s gay explorations, that was the final straw for her and it prompted the divorce,” an insider close to the situation states. “She could put up with the fights about money and being sued, but the fact that Russell might have been cheating on her with a man was just too much for her.”

“About six months ago Taylor confided in a close friend that she’d found history for a gay website called Adam4Adam.com on Russell’s laptop,” the insider continued. “He was also spending a lot of time at the gym, but his body wasn’t changing, which she claims led her to believe he was meeting with men he’d met off the website and not spending time working out as he claimed.”

Another insider adds that Russell was approached for comment about the impending tell-all book, which included great detail about what he liked in the bedroom. “Not only was it going to come out that Russell was bisexual, but there were people on the record that were going to talk about the kind of sex he liked,” the source said. “He was into S&M type stuff; choking, rough-housing and slapping.”

Russell’s attorney Ronald Richards however ademantly defends his client citing the report is a total fabrication. Ronald states he was not aware of any tell-all book or adultery when it came to Russell. And unfortunately Russell is no longer here to defend himself.

Meanwhile, Russell’s mother John Ann Hotchkiss revealed yesterday that she blames the Bravo network for her son’s death. During an interview on HLN on Wednesday evening, Ann stated Russell suffered from being criticized on the show by other cast members, and was anxious about the new season.

“’Mom they’re just going to crucify me this season,’” he told his mother recently, Ann said. “I don’t know what to do. I’ll never survive it.’” She added: “I thought he meant business-wise.”

In fact Radar is reporting Russell’s family is seriously considering suing Bravo. “Bravo is at fault and somebody needs to pay,” Russell’s step brother Wade Jackson revealed. “Russell’s whole family was very close and they’re considering suing Bravo.” “I’m sure somebody will sue them,” Jackson added about the Armstrong family plans to litigate against the network.

I believe blaming Bravo might be a bit of a reach as the network did not force Russell to appear on the show. He could have easily walked away after the 1st season did not go so well for him. While the Housewives are typically under contract with Bravo, the husbands are not. Plus blaming reality tv or any network just seems unfair considering he had many other problems in his personal life, including financial issues and an impending divorce. So we have to ask -
