Ryan Seacrest

On Wednesday night’s episode of American Idol, the theme was “Now and Then,” giving each Idol hopeful the opportunity to perform a song that was popular back in the 60’s and 70’s and one that has been a recent chart topper.

Idol fave, Scotty McCreery managed fantastic performances in both categories, choosing Montgomery Gentry’s “Gone” and Elvis Presley’s “Always on My Mind” which caused an excited Steven Tyler to exclaim that Scotty – the sweetest of country boys – had “danced with the devil!” Good job Scotty – and of course, as long as teenage girls in America have access to phones, Scotty isn’t going anywhere! Despite Scotty’s successes, it was underdog Haley Reinhart who stole the show with a performance of The Animals’ “Houses of the Rising Sun” that resulted in a standing ovation from the judges and Randy Jackson declaring it the best performance of the night.

Thursday night’s results show began with J. Lo debuting an ill-advised gold lame pouf skirt she wore to her prom in 1985 as she walked out on stage and Steven debuting his new autobiography: Walk This Way to Sweet Misery: How Bad Plastic Surgery Ruined My Life. Just kidding! It’s actually called Does the Noise in my Head Bother You?: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Memoir.

With 60 million votes cast determining who would move forward to the final four, Idol decided to drag out the suspense by not revealing which side of the stage featured the safe contestants; Ryan Seacrest asked Haley and James Durbin to stand on one side and Lauren Alaina and Jacob Lusk to stand on the other, with Scotty receiving the last critique from mentor Jimmy Lovine. Since, of course, Scotty was moving forward – even if his performance consisted of yodeling – Ryan unfairly asked him to choose the side of the stage he felt featured the safe contestants. Scotty chose wisely, opting to stand with Haley and James, who as it turned out turned were the other members of the top three, leaving Lauren and Jacob as the bottom two.

In the middle of all this drama of who’s safe, who’s not, we were treated to a performance of Jennifer Lopez’s new song: “On The Floor” featuring Pittbull. I couldn’t even pay attention to the song because I was so distracted by J. Lo’s second unfortunate outfit of the night which featured silver sequined harem pants (oh so terrible) and a fringedyes FRINGED! – sequined, crop-top with Dynasty pouffed sleeves. Oh the nightmare… Isn’t J. Lo supposed to be a fashion icon?

After a rocky performance of Jordin Sparks’ and Chris Brown’s “No Air”, Jacob was eliminated. Jacob has an amazing voice and I am excited to see where his talent will take him. The man who Randy thought had one of the best performances ever on Idol and who Steven Tyler decided had been brought to Idol by “divine intervention” went home with a beautiful and fun performance of “A House Is Not A Home.” Good Luck Jacob!

Next week – the final four! Who do you think will go home next?

Guess that first elimination wasn’t a fluke after all.

A month after being saved by the judges, Casey Abrams was yet again eliminated on American Idol… For good this time. Following his energetic performance of “Hi De Ho” on Wednesday night, the 20-year-old Wilmette, IL native received the fewest number of votes landing him in the bottom three with Scotty McCreery and Jacob Lusk.

“A lot of fans are going to be disappointed with tonight’s result,” said Ryan Seacrest at the beginning of the show and he was right. While this wasn’t a shocking Pia Toscano type elimination, Casey’s ousting was still a bit of a surprise.

“This is what talent looks like,” said Ryan while the judges gave Casey a standing ovation. Casey went on to give an excellent farewell performance, singing “I Cast a Spell on You.”

With Casey’s elimination, five contestants - Jacob, Scotty, Haley Reinhart, James Durbin and Lauren Alaina – live to perform again next Wednesday on Fox at 8/7c. This season’s American Idol winner will be crowned on May 25.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON CASEY’S ELIMINATION? WHO DO YOU PREDICT WILL WIN THIS SEASON OF AMERICAN IDOL?

Let the competition begin!

Just like that, we are now one step closer to finding the ultimate American Idol for season 10. Last night, the show narrowed down the 24 finalists to the top 13. The full list - Jacob Lusk, Haley Reinhart, Thia Megia, (back row) Lauren Alaina, Stefano Langone, Naima Adedapo, Karen Rodriguez, Ashthon Jones, James Durbin, Scotty McCreery, Pia Toscano, (front) Paul McDonald and Casey Abrams.

The show began last night with Ryan Seacrest introducing the Top 24 while also announcing that after the cuts are made, the judges will ask some of the eliminated contestants to sing for a wild-card spot. “It’s going to be a tough night for us,” said judge Jennifer Lopez.

Entertainment Tonight also reports that the judges, who were only supposed to pick 2 wildcards, simply couldn’t narrow it down. “They didn’t make a final decision to make it 13 until the end,” said Ryan.

“We saw so many talented kids we didn’t know what we were going to quite do,” Randy Jackson explained. “I’m still thinking about it,” said Jlo. “I’m like, ‘Did we do the right thing? Did we put the right people in?'”

Meanwhile, Jlo, who would have never made it to the Hollywood round had she tried out for the show, is making certain to use the show to restart her stale music career. Her new music video, “On The Floor”, premiered last night while the judges were mulling over the wild card performances. That video is below -

Ready or not, Kim Kardashian‘s debut music single is here for listen!

Kim and sister Kourtney Kardashian hit up Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this morning, during which Kim’s song made its debut.

The song, titled “Jam” was produced by mega hit producer The Dream, who has worked with the likes of Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Rihanna. The song appears to be about going out to the clubs and picking up guys. And umm, we’ll let you be the judge and jury. The song is below.

The E! network will premiere the song’s music video on March 6.

In other Kim news, according to reports by various media outlets, she is now “in talks” to snag herself a movie role in the upcoming movie about infamous New York mafia don John Gotti.

Kim is apparently in the running to star as Kim Gotti, daughter-in-law of the late John Gotti. Famed actor John Travolta has already been cast as the real-life godfather in the upcoming biopic, which will reportedly be produced by Gotti’s son, John Gotti Jr. “Kim is in talks to do the movie,” reveals a source close to Kim to UsWeekly.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON KIM’S FIRST SINGLE? HOT OR NOT?

UPDATE – According to Kim’s blog, Jam will be available for purchase on iTunes at 12 p.m. today. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the song will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

UPDATE #2 – It seems the servers from the audio are crashing. We will try to find another audio source.

UPDATE #3 – The audio should be okay now!

According to a new report, you now have 65 million more reasons to hate the Kardashians.

The Hollywood Reporter via UsWeekly is reporting today that the Kardashian family made over $65 million combined in 2010! It gets even worse better as that amount is more than talented celebrities Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock and Tom Cruise made combined.

And just how did Kim, Khloe and Kourtney make $65 mil? The report states that amount was made from their reality shows, endorsements, product lines, public appearance fees and more. In fact, momager/pimp Kris Jenner is being credited for the girls’ staggering fame and financial success.

“My job was trying to take my kids’ 15 minutes and turn it into 30,” said Kris to THR. Khloe Kardashian, 26, tells the mag: “My mother has just always been this ‘Let’s make water into wine’ person…She knows how to take one small talent or ability and grow it into something huge.”

Yes indeed, in 2007, Kris, 55, shopped around a new reality series when daughter Kim Kardashian, now 30, became the star of a sex tape with then-boyfriend Ray J. E! programming executive Lisa Berger admits the network almost passed on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, but was convinced otherwise by Ryan Seacrest. “It has changed the face of E!” she told THR.

So does Mama Kardashian ever turn down any endorsement for the girls? Kris reveals she said “hell to the no” when a sex toy company that wanted to sign Khloe and husband Lamar Odom with a line of “vibrating panties, nipple rings and vibrators.”

These days, Kim can charge up to $100,000 to $250,000 to appear at an event — and even $1 million abroad. She also commands as much as $25,000 to mention a brand in a tweet… All because of a sex tape.

In other Kardashian news, UsWeekly & E! News report that Kim and former BFF Paris Hilton finally buried the hatchet this weekend after years of feuding. It all went down during a Grammys after party on Sunday, when “Paris came up to her and apologized, and said she didn’t want to fight,” a source explains. “Paris said she was happy for Kim’s success despite what reports have said — Kim was sweet and accepted her apology.”

As for what caused the feud, it has been reported that Paris became jealous of Kim once her fame started to surpass hers. Things got really ugly back in 2008 when Paris did a radio interview and referred to Kim’s famous butt as being “gross” and “disgusting.” Paris then added, “It reminds me of cottage cheese inside a big trash bag.” Paris later apologized for her comments.

Meanwhile, sources close to Kim reveal the reunion only lasted about 30 seconds. “There was no reunion at all,” said a source very close to Kim told E!. “And there never was a feud, Kim was like, ‘Who cares about her?'” Ouch.

And for those unfamiliar with the woman pictured above with Paris, it is indeed Kim Kardashian, you know, before not having all the plastic surgery procedures she claims to have never gotten.

TELL US – IS THE WORLD UNFAIR? OR IS IT REALLY UNFAIR?

Kim Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest, Alicia Keys and a number of other celebrities have been brought back to digital life thanks to the very generous donation of a billionaire.

In an attempt to raise money in honor of World AIDS Day, the stupid/narcissistic celebrities agreed to a digital death until $1,000,000 was raised, meaning no tweeting or facebooking. Kim K and others even took coffin glamour shots to show the public just how serious they are about the cause.

Things however took a quick turn for disastrous when the donations didn’t come pouring in as expected. While many thought the amount would be raised within 2 days, less than $300,000 had been raised 6 days into the charity stunt.

The campaign started to get a ton of negative press and the celebs were starting to feel the side effects as they couldn’t make their promotional/sponsored tweets. Kim K reportedly earns up to $10,000 a tweet. “It’s the worst mismanagement of star power I’ve ever seen in my life,” a source close to the program told the NYPost.

As of Monday morning (Dec. 6), the donations were still under $300,000. And then something mysterious happened as a few hours later, the donations totaled over $1,000,000, raising a couple of eyebrows.

E! news is now reporting the celebs were able to reach their goal all thanks to billionaire pharmaceutical executive Stewart Rahr, who agreed to give $500,000. We’re guessing the other $200,000 came from the back accounts of the celebs.

Despite the major fail and negative press that followed the charity stunt, Alicia Keys, who organized the event, and the other celebs involved consider it to be a major success. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all of the fans, friends and artists who stood together for this cause and saved real lives,” said Keys. “I am humbled by the outpour of support from everyone.”

“I am back from the dead! Thank you all so much for your donations and contributions! I have missed u all so much!!!” tweeted Kim K Monday afternoon. While most of the celebs followed the rules and kept their promise, R&B singer Usher did go back on his word as he resumed his tweeting two days ago.

Another source tells the post most of the celebrities are embarrassed. “Some stars thought the money would be raised in 24 hours, and were embarrassed that critics said it proves nobody cares about their Twitter presence.”

In other Kim K news, she is denying a report by MediaTakeOut that alleged she was pregnant by rapper Kanye West. “The rumors are absolutely not true,” Kardashian tells PEOPLE. “I’m not pregnant.” Good to know Kimmy.

TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE LATEST? ARE YOU AS DISAPPOINTED AS WE ARE THAT THESE CELEBS CAN NOW TWEET AGAIN?

A few days ago, Kim Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys and a slew of other celebrities announced they would be dying digitally starting Dec. 1 all in the name of charity.

To get things going for the stupid/narcissistic charity stunt, some of the celebs even decided to play dead by posing in a coffin. See above. The goal was the celebrities would stop tweeting and facebooking until $1,000,000 was raised in honor of World AIDS Day. The organizers promised “everyone will be back online and tweeting in no time” once they reached their $1 million goal.

Sounds like a great plan right? Because surely with stars like Kim Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest and Lady Gaga, the $1 million would be raised within a day. Well, we thought wrong as the stunt seems to have backfired.

It is now 3 days into the charity event and as of Friday morning, the latest donation tally on the official buylife.org website shows that only $183,268 has been raised, meaning it might be a very long while before we see any new tweets from the likes of Kim K. The charity is still over $800,000 shy of their goal.

A new report by TheWrap tries to examine what went wrong with this charity stunt. A key factor might be the fact that the organizers put a $10 minimum on donations. The economy has yet to fully recover and most people might be more inclined to give with a lower minimum.

Another critical error is the fact that the digitally dead celebrities are not able to promote the cause for which they lay dead for, you know, because they are dead and cannot tweet. A look at Kim Kardashian’s twitter page shows her last tweet, to promote the charity event, was made two days ago.

The biggest shocker of it all is that this charity stunt is failing in spite of Kim K’s 5 million followers on twitter in addition to Lady Gaga’s 7 million followers. Guess these celebrities overestimated their clout. This latest stunt might end up costing Kim K financially as she gets paid to promote a number of products and events via tweeter, and most of her endorsement deals require her to tweet about the products.

MTV The City

Following two painful seasons of The City, the show will not be returning for a third.

MTV officially confirmed the cancellation news on Monday just hours after Whitney Port appeared on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show. “As of right now it doesn’t really look like we’re doing it anymore,” stated Whitney.

“‘The City’ will not be returning to MTV for season three,” an MTV spokesperson said. “Whitney has been a part of our family for many years and we wish her and the cast the best, and hope to collaborate with them again.”

Whitney, who currently has her own fashion line, seems to be taking things in stride and already has plans to move on. “I’m working on some other things,” she told Ryan. “It’s OK — one door closes and another opens.”

The City began as a spin-off from “The Hills,” which was one of MTV’s highest-rated reality shows of all time. This news doesn’t come as a major surprise though as The Hills was also canceled this year, and the ratings for The City just never matched the success of The Hills.
